Tense Morning Friday
Jul. 16th, 2021 11:18 pmAgain, didn't have a lot of luck actually getting to sleep last night, and then it was a bit of a rough morning, work-wise. . . I'm feeling better now that I'm at home and been able to unwind a bit, though. Wish the weather this weekend wasn't going to be so unsettled. . .but eh, we lucked out on not getting any thunderstorms today, so maybe that luck will hold.
Anyway, the updated-for-a-short-Friday Standard Update Form:
Work – UGH. Spent almost the ENTIRE DAY doing the GL because of having to add up credit card stuff and answer questions from our fiscal people about money being in this place or that place and all that fun stuff. I mean, at least the day went by, but I was hoping to do things OTHER than that. *grumbles* And as usual I didn’t enjoy the drive in or the drive home, so. . .any wonder I don’t want to go out anywhere this weekend?
Beanbags – Another hot and humid one, so no way, Jose. And this weekend is supposed to be either hot and humid and/or have a chance of rain, so. . .I mean, we’ll see. MAYBE Sunday, depending on the weather.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: No check today – I got wrapped up in watching Plumbella (below) and thinking about stuff I want to do with Cottage Living when it comes out, and I decided I could take today as my skip day. Besides, it’s fricking hot. I’ll try to make up for it tomorrow!
2. Edit some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Having been alerted to the security camera in Controlled Substances, Alice has been skulking around the upper level looking for a way to turn it off. Fortunately the guard dropped his keys in his laughing fit, meaning she has a much easier way to open doors now. She’s gotten into CIS and opened the cabinet itself; I’ve currently left her in the security room, cracking the password with Cheshire’s help so she can shut off that damn camera, get the blood, and – well. One more task before she gets out, of course. But at least she’ll be able to get off that floor!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions and get some stuff out of the Watch Later: Check! Nine videos today, five from the WL alone! Making a good dent in this thing. . .
A) Started with the first part of a Plumbella Marathon – she’s been uploading pretty damn regularly about Cottage Living too, and I haven’t had a chance to watch her stuff! So today I got through:
I. “COTTAGE LIVING IS MY FAVOURITE PACK FULL STOP” – Plumbella decided, in lieu of a formal review, to just show her playing through the pack and talking about what she likes and dislikes as she goes. In this episode, she liked just about everything – she actually started crying over how much she loved the CAS stuff as she made her self-Sim for this series, Jesse McCowtipping. XD She has a lovely little cottage with lots of farming space, a llama, and a whole coop full of chickens, and she is on the hunt for the closest equivalent to Mr. Darcy she can find! Unfortunately, she has not yet realized that you can’t actually PICNIC in the game, you have to use a picnic table – and one of her new chicks escaped because the game deleted some of her fences, so now she has to feed that one separately. XD Whoops! Still, she had fun, and it really makes me happy to see her enjoying herself with this pack so much. :)
II. “i have potentially romanticised the Cottage Living lifestyle lol” – Despite that title, Plumbella continued to have fun with the pack – just that it was rather more work than expected to do everything she wanted to do! Took her a while to find wild birds in The Bramblewood, for starters – and then when she did, she couldn’t resist giving them a fright. XD She also visited the Gnome’s Arms in Finchwick, squeed over the chance to have bangers and mash, then double-squeed at the appearance of one Michael Bell, the Creature Keeper. Apparently HE suits the bill as her “Mr. Darcy,” which I find endlessly amusing as I already know from other videos part of the “storyline” of this world is him being one of the points of a sort of love triangle (he’s pining after someone he had a bad date with, while the local grocery store owner is pining after him). Oooh, this is going to get interesting fast. . . She also had her Sim befriend a fox to make sure it didn’t harm her chickens, then stay up all night to plant a ton of crops (over-sized and average) in her garden plots before taking a risk on some homemade cheese (because she used both new traits on said self-Sim, and one of those is Lactose-Intolerant). XD Oh dear, I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes!
III. “i put my entire heart and soul into this Cottage Living build” – a quick jump backwards in time as Plumbella shared her speed build of the house where Jesse McCowtipping is living (an adorable cottage on a big old pond, with room for animal sheds and chicken coops), talking about how she’s working to improve her confidence so she can go back to doing stuff like “Entire History Of” video essays and whatnot. And also how much she loves the pack and how it’s ranking in her top three expansions (Generations from Sims 3 and Makin’ Magic from Sims 1 take the top spot – I never played Generations, but on nostalgia alone, fair play on Makin’ Magic). I’m so thrilled that so many of the Game Changers and reviewers seem to GENUINELY love this pack. It’s really making me excited for it! Still just a tad unsure if I’ll get it on release, but I’m definitely getting it in time to get the special objects, that’s for sure. :p
IV. “i am creating an army of Hens in The Sims 4” – Back to the actual LP! And, as the title suggests, this episode was chicken-themed – as in, Plumbella wanted to do well at the chicken fair on Saturday, so she bought like TEN more chicken coops and filled them up with chickens so she could have plenty of variety to pick from. Chaos resulted with her scrambling to keep everyone fed and clean (including her llama, Tiny Tim, who suffered a bit from neglect this episode), and eventually she fled to the Bramblewood to try and avoid it. There she had a bite to eat and befriended a wild bunny, replacing one of the coops on her lot with a bunny home so she could make more friends and give them all the eggs she had in her inventory. A lot of the chickens complained about their treatment, and it got to the point where Plumbella not only told them they could head off, but was ordering chicken from the Zoomers food app to show dominance. XD She also spared a thought for her garden, though she’s not holding out any hope of getting the perfect-quality over-sized crops she needs just yet. She left it with one content chicken and a bunch of eggs in her inventory – time for the fair!
V. “AGNES CRUMPLEBOTTOM IS BACK AND I'M SCARED” – The LP continued with a trip to the chicken fair! Which did not go too well for Sim!Jesse – not only did her rooster get cranky in her inventory and get her nothing better than a participation trophy, she also made enemies with the one, the only Agnes Crumplebottom! Mostly because Plumbella decided she wanted to flirt with her, which is the thing guaranteed to set this woman off. And then decided might as well go all-out and have a proper fight. XD After that, she downgraded her chicken farm severely, trading the hens and roosters for simoleons – and MEAT, which is NOT an option I’ve seen anyone else touch yet! And Plumbella’s a freaking VEGAN, people! XD (She admitted shortly thereafter she felt a bit sick about doing that.) She kept the baby chicks, though, and got a few new animal sheds to make up for the lack – a white llama and a brown cow. She also got herself a gardener to take care of her veggies (after accidentally harvesting her pumpkins), then spent the rest of the episode taking care of her Sim and sending her off to find mushrooms and berries in the Bramblewood. And not getting anywhere with Michael, but this is only about halfway through the LP so far. . .
B) Then, this evening, it was onto Fun With Shorts for another Lone Ranger cartoon – “Fire Rain!” This one actually FEATURED the Lone Ranger, working with Tonto to stop somebody with a firebomb machine from destroying Washington, D.C., which is now in the middle of the desert for some reason. Tonto got to lob a rock onto someone with a Gatling gun before being sent away to get the army before he completely overshadowed the Lone Ranger XD And the episode ended with the villain dying in one of his own explosions and a volcano erupting. Another day saved! Sort of! XD
C) After that was James Turner with another Cottage Living building video – this time a tiny hut on a lake! He wanted to do something cool with the pond tool, so he made a pond, put a tiny island on it, then built a little hut with a little tower atop that island! It’s very nice too – it has a small wraparound porch, some VERY cramped living/dining/kitchen (with a nice bay window behind the stove), a little bathroom with tub, a working bedroom, and a tiny office with the new typewriter/computer, a bookcase, and an easel in the tower! And it’s all functional, as demonstrated with Chaz Ricks! Really amazing what people can cram into tiny builds. . .and it looks so cute too! :) I am continually impressed by his building skills, seriously.
D) Then it was time for Call Me Kevin and a special episode of Bitlife – where his Twitch stream chat got to vote on everything that happened with their character! They made Failed Democracy, the world’s ugliest baby, who grew up into a guy who did crimes and occasionally found love. XD Specifically, he murdered his stepfather, then got caught when he tried to join the military; escaped, changed his name to Working Democracy, then joined up with the Irish Mob via the medium of baked goods; murdered a nun in an extortion scheme with an iron maiden; successfully robbed a bank with a toy gun in a Minecraft helmet on an electric scooter; found love briefly with non-binary Olivia – before losing zir after giving zir syphilis from an ages-old hookup; went to jail repeatedly as he attempted to murder zir, only succeeding when he pushed zir off a cliff; underwent gender reassignment surgery and become a woman, taking on the name A Democracy; found love with a bisexual 90-year-old woman and eloped; unsuccessfully robbed a bank and had to escape from prison again; turned informant on the mob; managed to lead them off her trail briefly by exposing ANOTHER rat – then, finally, panicked upon being hailed by one of the mob captains, headbutted him in the feet, and was fed to pigs at 40 years old. I think it says a lot about Kevin’s Bitlife lives to admit that that was one of the more productive ones. XD
E) And then it was time for GrayStillPlays and Happy Wheels! Featuring such boards as the Watermelon Speed Run (where your lady is piloting what is essentially a giant hamster ball through mounds of multiplying watermelons – and occasionally people)! The Yeet Bottle Flip (where Gray had to unlock the “Yeet Win” before being blown up by the homing mine at his feet, and get the MLYeet for a shoutout)! The Yeeter 1.5.2 (where choosing the incorrect code to start the yeeters means death! And starting the yeeters is also death because holy hell all the rockets)! Gray Kills The Gods (where Gray had to survive all the obstacles like deadly harpoons, balls, and meteors in order to defeat the gods and win)! An impossible jet run (unless you go backwards, because trying to get through the jet walls is – well, there’s more jets than you think)! A bargain land Disney coaster (complete with mines and spikes for the full experience)! And a bargain version of Frozen (featuring Richard Nixon riding a Segway through the film and losing his legs to the palace staircases)! All fine, fine examples of total mayhem. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Victor Luvs Alice is of course set for another day, and there was only the one ask in Valice Multiverse – added a fun FO4 reblog and sent it on its way! And I did get a bit of a jump on next week’s Chill Save update by getting all the pictures ready for it – I have gone from “usually just one post in an update” to “holy crap I have THIRTY GOOD PICTURES HERE.” Then again, three days, one holiday, the whole Sim Sessions thing. . .perhaps it was only to be expected! At least I’m slightly ahead of the curve. . .
5. Play another round of Untitled Goose Game: Check! I wanted to give it another run-through after watching Helloween’s stream archive of it a little while ago, and I figured, having finished Portal Reloaded LAST weekend, this was the ideal time to do it. As usual, the pub level was the hardest – took me FOUR tries to get that darn pint glass in the canal! And then baiting the burly man to bring a tomato to the back area so I could drop the bucket on his head was a bit of a ballache as well. . .still, managed to get through the entire game main game in about an hour and a half, hour and forty-five, so not too shabby.
So yeah, even without the workout, productive afternoon! Well, for my definition of "productive," anyway. :P And now I'm answering comments and preparing for Friday Night Writing Thing (however much of it I can stay awake for, anyway), so let me wrap up here with my non-cleaning Saturday to-do list:
1. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again"
2. Watch the rest of the Plumbella in my Watch Later and keep up with YouTube Subs
3. Play Sims 4 and work some more on that house shell I made in my building save
4. Get in a workout
And as I'm tired, that'll do. :p Really hoping I get to sleep easier tonight. . .if nothing else, I can sleep in tomorrow! Night all!
Anyway, the updated-for-a-short-Friday Standard Update Form:
