Tiring Wednesday

crossover_chickMostly because of shitty commutes and bad times at work. . .see below, as per usual:
Work – Soooo, day started out reasonably quiet, with me just working on obits and whatnot. . .but then shortly before lunch, I realized that I hadn’t seen the credit card company do any reversals (aka removing payments that were rejected or refunded) for a while, so I decided to check up on that. . .and then, AFTER lunch, I came across a rather more worrying situation involving extra payments that has been going on for longer than any of us expected. *sigh* So I spent the last couple of hours stressed out about that. And I had lovely asshole drivers on both my morning and evening commutes scaring the crap out of me. . . Also my dentist office called and had to reschedule my appointment this Saturday because the hygienist won’t be there. Which, actually, I should note as a positive, because now I don’t have to worry about that this Saturday, and the reschedule allows me to take a couple of personal hours out of work. Hmph. Looking very much forward to my long Thanksgiving weekend. . .and my now-free Saturday this week.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, and another night with The Spiffing Brit, as I seem to be on a roll with him these days! Today was him breaking Monopoly Plus, an online version of Monopoly, by showing how you can manipulate the trading system in the game by using AIs, mortgages, and unfair deals that the AI can’t figure out, and gain a ton of money (enough to win via one of the optional rule sets) ON TURN ONE. All you have to do is load the game up with bots, wait for them to acquire property (preferably by rolling so they go ahead of you), buy those properties from them, mortgage the properties to get some money back, then offer them to an AI – who will pay you close to full price, despite the fact that mortgaged properties are worth half. And then promptly use more of their money to immediately pay off the mortgages. Meaning you can then get the properties BACK from the AI (who will want the extra cash), REMORTGAGE them, offer them AGAIN to an AI for more than they’re actually worth – and so on, and so forth. It will get to the point where the AIs don’t have enough money to pay off the mortgages on their shit properties very very fast. XD Spiff declined to actually reduce everyone to bankruptcy as this method DOES take a fair chunk of time and he figured it wouldn’t be great content, but he clearly had a lot of fun mocking the developers for not checking the AIs quite enough. (And these fake people were set to be hard opponents! One dreads to think what might happen if you set them all to “very easy. . .”). Good fun!
2. Edit some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check – Alice has gotten a couple of cryptic hints about the upcoming boss fight against Gimble from Rosa and taken her leave from the Thin-Bloods, wishing them all the best in the process. She’s now at Mercurio’s, checking up on him and asking if he knows anything about his missing neighbor. Time for some detecting together – though not for a little bit. Mostly because, in order to have a somewhat less stressful time getting up Chapter 2 in time for Thursday of next week, I’m starting the final edit pass of Chapter 2 on Friday and going straight through next Wednesday. Gimble will just have to wait until THAT’S done!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – we had a late supper, so this was harder to finagle, but I did get the usual two-in-two-out-one-bonus –
A) First up was Call Me Kevin and another episode of BitLife, where he once again was aggressively Irish royalty in a foreign country! Specifically, he was CallMe Emperor, Emperor of Japan! Because no matter how many crimes he did, they couldn’t actually arrest him for any of them. XD Hiring hitmen to murder his parents and allow him to take the throne early? Flinging the girlfriend who wanted to marry him in a casino (illegal in Japan) away in a catapult? Closing down soup kitchens to turn into his personal arcades? Randomly robbing banks? All fine and dandy so long as he exerted his royal rights! . . .though he still couldn’t buy a plane without a pilot’s license. Live and learn. XD He did get himself a pet chimp, though! And a few children (one adopted, a couple from flings), though one he abandoned and the others he had killed. In the end, though, this life of hedonism and royal privilege ended up boring him, and he abdicated the throne (after making sure he had no heirs to pick up any of his cash) and started traveling the world, going from Cuba, to Canada, to Ireland as a famous former royal! Who – then chose to join the Yakuza! And then, after a few burglary jobs that proved too hard, he turned informant on them! Only to not get enough evidence on them and end up in jail! And then he escaped and emigrated to Panama! And then tried to go back to Japan, only to be arrested and have to escape jail again! And so it was back to Panama, where he ended up school board director, then Mayor of Panama City (denying all rumors he was a murderer of course)! And then, just for fun, he agreed to be a drug mule but got caught, tried to bribe his way out of trouble, got arrested – and got found not guilty. XD And on top of that he had a few successful books and a very successful YouTube channel! He finally died right after emigrating back to Cuba in his 80s, ending probably the absolute WEIRDEST life Kevin’s ever played in this game. At least until the next one. XD
B) And then we had GrayStillPlays and more Happy Wheels! Today was definitely a day of Gray Torture – we had a bottle flip where not only could you flip to kill various hobos, you could also become 99% Satan (Gray struggled to get that one, only to finally flip TWO bottles into it); a rope swing bathed in blood where you had to thumbnail hole yourself into a cannon, survive a trip through the longbow, then get down a ball-and-spike fall to the win (Gray lost his arms SOOO many times. . .); an adventure where the only secret area was a horrible horrible dead end (and getting past all the crossbows and down the tube ended in a spike fall where Gray won as half a man); the world’s most complicated “steal the diamonds” board (with harpoon lasers, a wrecking ball laser, the forbidden land mine boosts, chains that will crush you if you don’t tap them just right, a glass wall that tries to both crush AND stab you, homing mines. . .and a secret zippy tunnel up the top that you can access if you stumble across the hidden invisible stairs at the end of the level, allowing you to cheat. We don’t want to know how long it took Gray to find that); and a pogo fight against Poppy and his minions (you know, the new indie horror sensation) – which you had to complete in 70 seconds to reach the stairs before being dropped into a giant Poppy mouth (with Gray saw LOTS and LOTS of times, before finally pogoing his way past all the trapped factory workers to VICTORY). So much struggle on poor Gray’s part tonight. . .it was great. XD
C) And then, for a short-and-sweet finish, a short from B. Dylan Hollis (who does a lot of vintage recipes on Tik-Tok; I’ve seen them on tumblr and they’re generally pretty funny) about a whipped cream cake from 1936. According to him at the end, it’s an angel food cake variation and is actually pretty good! Nice. :D
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: N/A, and I’m kind of glad of it, considering how tiring the end of work was and then the various delays in the evening. I’ll try to make up ground on my drafts over the long weekend next week!
And that's about it, really. Ugh, I was hoping for a better midweek. . .but at least we're past the hump and heading down to the weekend. And I DON'T have to get up anywhere near early for a dentist appointment on Saturday, yay. :p Night all!
