crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)

I mean, it was never going to be the best Friday, not with me on my period, but it could have been better than it was! You shall see in the work section below. . .

Work – UGH. I expected a day where I was the only one in the office to be a BIT harder than normal, but I didn’t expect an electrical surge knocking out our servers for the morning, meaning a lot of what I would USUALLY do in the morning (such as the GL) got delayed; then a credit card call that, of course, went wrong; then scrambling to catch up as more tasks of every sort poured in; then – well you get the picture. I got in my lunch and whatnot, but I was there until basically the last minute making sure everything that had to get done that day was, you know, DONE. *deep, heavy sigh* So glad it’s the weekend – and so, SO glad that my damn dentist appointment got rescheduled and I don’t have to worry about THAT on top of everything else!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – did indeed get on the bike today, and watched two videos with my ride:

A) A quick update from Carl regarding the state of his new “difficulty mod” for The Sims 4 – doing things like making socializing harder (though giving stronger bonuses to hanging out with friends and family), halving income and increasing bills, dropping how much work performance you get a day, removing the friendship bonus from photography so you can’t spam pictures to become best friends (in fact, he added a tiny HIT to it instead), etc. Interesting stuff for people who genuinely want the game to be harder. . .but honestly, the way I play and how often I play? I’m fine, thanks. (Seriously, I find it hard to juggle Chill Save’s Victor and Alice just having a life as well as attending college – I don’t NEED more difficulty on top of that!)

B) Another, surprisingly recent Spiffing Brit video about playing hide-and-seek with his stream community in various video games! First person to find him each time won $1,000! His first hiding place, in an online game that I don’t remember the name of (and I’d never heard of before now), where he was on some lonely island in a far-off corner of the game map, took the community over an hour to find – but then he switched to VR Chat, and suddenly EVERYONE could figure out where he was. XD He tried to make his first world look like something from Skyrim, but got caught out in twenty minutes by someone who recognized the candle models and went world-hopping with friends. And then the second world was a featureless “looks like you fell outside the map” abyss – and someone triangulated his position and found him in THREE MINUTES. Spiff was furiously amused. XD Good community fun, and he admitted he’d like to do more of it – perhaps even with proper sponsorship to hand out better prizes! We’ll see what happens, I suppose. . .

2. Work on final edits for Chapter 2 of “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! I have separated out Chapter 2 from its fellows and am reading it over, clearing up typos and making little adjustments here and there. Managed to get all the way up to meeting Mercurio and learning about the Astrolite and ghouls tonight, which is a decent start! Hopefully getting this one up on AO3 will end up being less stressful than the first chapter (and not contain so many spacing issues).

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – simple three-in, three-out today –

A) Started with this week’s Fun With Shorts – though this one was actually the framing device for other shorts! In honor of Thanksgiving, Josh found the bumper sections for a cartoon variety show hosted by one “Linus the Lion-Hearted” (a lion who was apparently the mascot for “Crispy Critters,” aka “frosted animal crackers sold as breakfast cereal” for Post back in the day), revolving around Linus forcing his bird lackey to try and inflate the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon of him (with predictably pathetic results). Featuring a cameo from an actually-still-recognizable mascot, Sugar Bear! And Josh was even nice enough to throw in some footage he found of the actual Linus balloon in the parade at the end. Our Josh, going above and beyond for his comedy! XD (Or maybe he just figured that, after all the to-do, we’d kind of like to SEE the damn thing.)

B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin and more Two Chunk Challenge Minecraft! Today was all about prepping to go to The End and take on the Ender Dragon! Kevin got a lucky treasure from his pond that allowed him to make a crossbow – he also made a diamond sword and an iron/wooden shield (couldn’t quite tell from the icon), and stored up about five million eggs to throw at the dragon’s healing crystals to break them. Of course, he also needed ammo, in the form of arrows, so it was down into his dungeons he went. . .where he found like ALL THE CREEPERS, JUST ALL OF THEM, SO MANY CREEPERS WITH SO MANY OTHER MONSTERS. Yeah, Kevin died a few times this episode, sadly – and when he wasn’t dying he was blocking himself off from death so that it turned into the “One Square Challenge” for a while. XD He did end up with 25 arrows in the end, though, and he managed to kill most of the monsters and escape, so it wasn’t too big of a loss. And he even found a water bottle fishing in his lake, that allowed him to FINALLY fill up his cauldron and get a bucket of water from it! Sure, he no longer NEEDED it, but it was the principle of the thing, darn it. XD He also made himself a waterfall leading to the subterranean lake so he could float up and down with ease (after nearly breaking his knees with a jump down there – acrobatic genius, our Kevin). And a jukebox with his last diamond, to finally play his record – and have a creeper nearly explode the side of his house. Figures his one source of entertainment was cursed music. . . But yeah. After many misadventures (many of them this very day), Kevin has everything he feels he needs for The End, including his trusty steed. Our next episode may be our last, folks! Ahhh. . .it’s been a good ride. On a pig. :p

C) And then it was over to GrayStillPlays for Become A Celebrity! Which is, of course, another terrible mobile game, this one about becoming a “Toktik” celebrity after quitting your terrible fry cook job, and then inheriting a house from your grandpa to film in. Gray was deeply amused by the Google Translate dialogue and the strange, unknowable trends of the TikTok crowd. . .but his one true love in this game? Working through all the challenges to unlock the Lady Gaga meat dress. Not that he had any idea it was a reference to Lady Gaga – he just saw a dress made of either flank steak or the flesh of his enemies and went WANT. XD He even dropped some real-life money on the game to jazz up his house and improve his chances of unlocking it sooner! He powered through various outfit changes, makeover challenges, and ridiculous poses until finally he could wander around his grounds in the stench of rotting beef. XD Whatever makes you happy, Gray!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – another thread reply and a couple of asks on Valice Multiverse. Nothing too major!

So yeah -- bad day at work, okay day when it comes to the to-do list. But I am expected over at the Friday Night Writing document, so let's get tomorrow's items sorted so I can get over there. . .

1. Work on final edits for Chapter 2 of “Londerland Bloodlines”

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs and get at least the Plumbella video out of my Watch Later

3. Play Sims 4 and finish up the house build

4. Get in a workout

And I think I'll leave it there, as befits a Saturday after a stressful week. Night all!
