Happy Lunar New Year Tuesday
Feb. 1st, 2022 11:29 pmYear of the Tiger, if you believe the Google Doodle. . .and hilariously, since Mom was finally able to get the ingredients for the first time in forever, we had Chinese food tonight. XD So that was nice and appropriate (and tasty -- nice change from the usual!). As for the rest of my day --
Work – Eh – still had an annoying commute (no icy spots to scare me, but I got blocked at an intersection because every bus in the world was trying to go through it), and it was another yap-yap day for my coworkers. Plus some fun stuff with the credit card people, as per usual. *sigh* But I suppose it was a little better than yesterday, anyway. Possibly only because it was one day closer to the weekend, but still.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – and I’m glad I checked the Oxventure Playlist, because I nearly skipped two episodes! Yeah, there’s two more live shows before the music video and its archived livestream introduction, and I have started on the first – Mind Your Manors! Set directly after the adventure with the Stag Lads (lads lads lads), the gang has landed at Necropolis-On-Sea, and discovered that – well, place lives up to the name. There are gravestones EVERYWHERE, many with multiple names and dates on them, some very old, some very new! There was also a crone, Bismuth, who asked if they were there to try the “challenge” (apparently the Lads have already fucked off, possibly to find a way to resurrect their god). Egbert and Dob were all for taking the challenge, but Corazon insisted on figuring out what the hell it was, first – turns out that there’s a big old heavily-haunted and cursed manor over on the big old hill that dominates the place, and whoever survives staying a night in it gets to keep it.
This is when Egbert revealed he doesn’t believe in ghosts. XD Specifically ghosts – the reanimated skeletons from the hammer and whatnot are fine, but ghosts? Nah. The others figured a night in the mansion would make him a believer, and Prudence was all for having a spooky horror mansion, so Corazon decided that yes, they’d try the challenge, as her birthday and Christmas present. XD Dob promptly tried to adopt Bismuth, but didn’t succeed on the charisma roll – she did, however, take a piggyback ride from Egbert to go up the hill to the mansion (POSSIBLY losing a couple of toes or teeth along the way). She also asked if she could have their stuff if they died – Corazon insisted all of his stuff would be buried with him, while Dob said she was welcome to what he had, including the map to the lake where he’d put the map to the lake he threw most of their money in. XD
Anyway – they got to the manor, which was grand, old, full to the brim with “ghost juice” (as per Prudence) and had a “cat flap” that was clearly meant for some sort of horrible giant millipede monster or something. Corazon somehow managed to contort himself into the proper shape to get through, and was immediately confronted with Henry Charles Fauntleroy Stripworth Colquhuon The Third At Your Service (aka, Johnny getting revenge on the guild for always making them make up ridiculous character names). As the ghostly (I assume – he's at least as ancient as our crone) butler of sorts is not here to correct me, for ease of use we’re going to call him Corazon’s attempted nickname for him, “Hank.” XD Hank welcomed Corazon to the mansion and spookily opened the door for the others, asking if they were there for the challenge and detailing his duties – namely, collecting the bodies when morning comes around and rolling them off the roof down to where Bismuth collects them for burial. XD He assured the group that rooms were prepared for them and even consented to get Corazon some grog.
Dob INSTANTLY went on a rampage looking for secret passages – and indeed found one! Or possibly just ripped out a weak section of wall via its sconce. XD He and a very eager Prudence went exploring, pushing through (or, in Prudence’s case, eating) the cobwebs and checking out the sights. Prudence peeped through some peepholes and found a frigid room with a cold-burning fire and ghostly ladies having tea! :D That’s where I left it off – looking forward to continuing on tomorrow! :D
2. Continue editing Chapter 5 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check – after some off-screen laptop-stealing, informing Mercurio of a dead Kuei-Jin to dispose of, and changing, Alice has made it back to The Asylum, and even managed to check in with Knox and let him know what’s been going on! Poor guy was not expecting the question about his past with Arthur, that’s for sure. Or the skinny on what happened to Carson. . . However, with that side quest turned in, Alice now has to face Therese and the music for what happened at the Gallery Noir. And she is prepared for things to turn ugly indeed. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – three-in, three-out today!
A) Started with James Turner and the next part of the Cottage Living LP! We have confirmed that the water tower works now and Trenton can access the dew collectors to repair them, yay. :p More importantly, though, today was Hazel’s birthday! James celebrated by having her paint a few new paintings to get another milestone checked off on her aspiration (and to show off the mod he got that allows you to put new filters on the “paint from reference” paintings so they don’t look quite so awful), play with her children (which backfired horribly when she scared them as a pretend monster), actually interact with Trenton and play some chess with him, get a makeover (some new, more “cottagecore” outfits, plus a new colored hairstyle), and have a little surprise birthday party over at the shop! Granted, the latter was a completely spontaneous thing born of James trying to get a blue egg for a blue confetti cake from Kim, and then realizing he didn’t need one because the shop doesn’t have the “Simple Living” lot trait and thus he could just pay money for it. XD But yeah, she’s officially an adult now, and looking good while doing it.
After that, James stayed with Chaz at the store for a while, making cowberry jam and selling a few things (like golden eggs, dragonfruit, and one of Hazel’s masterpieces), before coming home and finding HOLY HELL NINA IS BASICALLY IN THE RED ON EVERYTHING. Fortunately he was able to feed the toddler before she got taken away, and got Hazel to read her to sleep. A couple of times, in fact, as first Nina had to use the potty, then James accidentally somehow deleted her bed while making a new secret basement for a vault! Because a) people suggested it, and b) it was Rebate Day, so why not? :p All the money tree money is now going in there, as James doesn’t want to use that. And so the episode ended with everyone in actually decent moods, the farm animals being taken care of (with Trenton trying to make friends with Llamanade for the upcoming Finchwick Fair), and Chaz’s birthday imminent! Ah, they’re all growing up so fast now. . . XD
B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin for Needy Streamer Overload, a game that LOOKS like it’s about become an awesome streamer as a cute anime girl. . .but as a very confused Kevin found out, the player is actually playing as the character-on-screen’s significant other, and if you don’t give her enough attention in the texts and help her manage her stress and all that, she will break up with you, and that will be a game over. It actually gets rather dark, as the girl seems a little – unbalanced, and it’s really easy to ignore her too much, or get her to take too many of her pills, or – look, while things never got TOO bad during Kevin’s short video (basically he just made her stream her way to tons of followers with sexy streams and ads, then made her sleep for days to lower her stress), I suspect this is a horror game in disguise and am thus giving it the appropriate amounts of side-eye. (Especially since Kevin warned it can get rather weird and dark.) Shame the girl couldn’t just run away with her true love – a Harambe look-alike on “Dinder.” XD Ah well. . .
C) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and more GTA V! Today’s offering was a “high IQ” puzzle parkour board, where Gray had to figure out how to use the vehicles at his disposal to solve certain challenges. First was “get the right car through the right hole” – after failing to get the motorcycle through either the small flat box or the tall thin box, he made a ramp with another car and managed to jump the smart car through the triangle. Second was “figure out how to get yourself over the pink wall and flatten the person mocking you from up there” – this involved making a ramp for a motorcycle from both a crate pushed into a hole and the car that did the pushing – and it still took a few tries. Third was “find your way to the red wall using the tools and the Old Gray provided” – this one required getting Old Gray to drive a motorcycle over a gap and using the jumpy car to pop him up high enough to get onto the next platform, thus allowing regular Gray to take the cycle and get it through the thin gap in the wall blocking the red wall (which he did via popping a miracle wheelie, basically – even he wasn’t sure what happened). Fourth was “complete this tricky motorcycle tightrope, but you have to get the motorcycle ON the tightrope first” – again, using crates and car ramps to jump up to the starting point, then VERY careful inchy-squinchy to make it across the tightrope. And finally, fifth was “just drive this car really fast and remember how to mix colors so you can make these jumps without being sent back to the beginning!” Which – well, Gray couldn’t resist picking the wrong color once, then he forgot what order the colors were in, then he seemed genuinely confused what both red and white and black and white made for a moment before remembering “oh, right, Florida Man pink and my name” XD And then the creator told him to go jump off a bridge, and offered a teleport right to a bridge. So Gray jumped off the bridge. XD Perfect GTA nonsense!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – got the VictorLuvsAlice stuff sorted right after writing. Four-part Chill Save update in the jungle for tomorrow, and my reblogged ship meme for Thursday, yay. :) And for Valice Multiverse, couple of ask replies, nice and easy.
Evening definitely made better by the return to Oxventure -- that'll be a nice way to complete my workouts this week. :) Looking forward to their adventures in the ghost-mansion! And I'm happy with how Chapter 5 is going so far in "Londerland Bloodlines" -- I'll probably break from it after Valentine's Day to post Chapter 4 (oh, that is going to take a SOLID week's worth of final editing thanks to the length), and then hopefully I can get Chapter 5 up in April! If we can get the first portion of this whole thing done by May. . .
Well, that's something to worry about later. I have to head to bed now after finishing off tumblr tags. Night all!
