Happy Twosday!
Feb. 22nd, 2022 11:23 pmThe day of ultimate twos -- 2/22/22! It will only be more two when it 2/22/2222, and only then if that ALSO falls on a Tuesday. XD Everyone's been doing silly little celebrations on tumblr, it's great.
Anyway -- time to do the daily wrap-up:
Work – . . .the fire alarm went off AGAIN today. Not long after we all started, in fact! Had to wait out in the misty, rather chilly morning while the firefighters came AGAIN to see what was going on. Apparently it’s a faulty sensor or something, and they’re having the electrician poke at it tonight, so – we can only hope this is the end of it!
As for the actual work, Chatty Coworker is still in a mood, which at least keeps her quiet, and I’m just permanently annoyed at our credit card service. Other than that, reasonably quiet day – finished up some obits, took care of some questions, stuff like that. Worse ways to spend a Tuesday!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, with more of the OxSong Livestream! After poor Ellen being unable to convey the idea of a quest market (where they got the quest for Darkfall for “Out of Order,” btw), Oxventure Pictionary went a little better as they got easier clues. Especially Luke, who got things like Corazon’s boat, the Joyful Damnation, which he portrayed as a little sailboat. XD Johnny was the clear winner, though, getting another twelve points for guessing and drawing and being named the champion. After some more shoutouts to those donating, it was decided to hold a final round for second place, with Johnny drawing while Luke and Jane guessed (just because Andy had spent SO much time making up all those clues). Poor Luke was blown out of the water by Jane’s rapid-fire guessing, and so she became the second-place champ. Yay Prudence! XD And while that was going on, the gang successfully doubled their $10K goal, so they shared some more behind-the-scenes footage, featuring everyone getting ready for the drive into the woods (and showing that Mike’s basically got the easiest costume, as he has no make-up or anything – it’s just the suit and his dragon head hat), a peek into Prudence’s “Bag of Holding” on the drive up (featuring snacks and hand warmers), then the arrival at the shoot site and everyone blocking out various shots (Mike learning to mime the drums, etc) while Jane finished Luke’s Dob make-up and another cute dog visited the shoot. XD Next up should be another replay of the music video itself, and then more Ask Me Anything times, this time specifically for Johnny! We’ll see how that goes!
2. Edit Chapter 4 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check – Alice and Mercurio have freed Carson; Alice has gone to Arthur, told him what happened, and gotten her payment and her second job; and finally raced off to the Gallery Noir and gotten past Chunk by distracting him with a thrown sardine tin before lifting his keys. All that remains is to slash the paintings – and deal with the aftermath of doing so. :) Page 43 of 46, everyone! Just gotta do the second boss fight for this chapter, and we’ll be good to go!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – another two-in, two-out day over there, so I also grabbed some bonus videos –
A) Started with a pair of Plumbella videos from the Watch Later:
I. “Trying to turn an empty lot into the best Wedding Venue (The Sims 4)” – Plumbella brings us up to speed on her life (she’s got corona, poor thing! Though fortunately it’s not a very severe case) and talks about how My Wedding Stories has such good build/buy stuff, it’s a real shame that the gameplay portion of the pack doesn’t work, all over a speed build of her making her new beach wedding venue. It’s very pretty, and I think it would be lovely for any beach wedding – you know, if you can get them to work. *sigh*
II. “The Hidden Lore of The Sims 4: My Wedding Stories” – Plumbella takes us through some of the lore of the new pack, including some references to Princess Cordelia (one of the families, the Laurents, has a grandmother Sim with the same last name as her, and their house is pretty much totally furnished with Princess Cordelia items) and reading through all the various messages in a bottle you can get (though she had to pull them out of debug). There’s notes from Sims from other packs, and even other GAMES – though the most bone-shaking revelation? From Paranormal Stuff – Bonehilda the skeleton maid and Temperance the spooky evil spirit are SISTERS! And the reason Temperance hates Guidry the friendly investigator ghost is because HE DUMPED HER FOR BONEHILDA! That is a hell of a thing, and I’m surprised Plumbella didn’t make a bigger deal of it in the video. XD I blame the COVID-19.
B) Then it was over to the Subs for Call Me Kevin and Turmoil – a game all about becoming an oil tycoon in the Old West! Complete with hiring men with dowsing sticks to find oil (or employing moles to do it for you – or eventually getting a proper scanner), bidding on the best parcels of land, and desperately sending wagons out to prevent the rigs from spewing oil and gas for miles. Kevin actually managed to softlock the game early on by buying dozens of dowsers and then taking out bank loans so he ended with a very hefty early deficit (I guess the game was like “this is the first level, THAT SHOULDN’T BE POSSIBLE”), but eventually it let him play, and he proceeded to trade the dowsers for moles (before eventually letting them team up), make shady deals with certain companies, sell oil at ridiculously low prices (and get an achievement for it!), try to swipe away the plots of land his much-more successful competitors were bidding on, spill a lot of oil all over the ground, take out a number of ever-increasing bank loans, and play card guessing games for “profit.” He ended the game with a deficit of over $100K – roughly the equivalent of THREE MILLION in today’s money. Man – if oil was that unprofitable in the real world, we wouldn’t be having a climate change crisis at all!
C) And finally, it was time for GrayStillPlays and more GTA V madness – time for another round of organ theft! Only with a FNAF twist, this time – apparently, Freddy Fazbear (the original) has a heart, and someone wanted it, still beating and cursed. Though to find Freddy, Gray first had to go to an amusement park and climb all over a roller coaster tracking down the teens with Freddy’s location. And roasting them to a crisp with his flamethrower. All while dodging the blades of wind turbines. XD And then breaking his van so badly while trying to load the teens in with an earth mover, he had to use the earth mover to shove the van to the checkpoint. XD From there, he got the location of Freddy, and he and Meaty Bits proceeded to the construction site where the animatronic and his friends were hiding out. Meaty led Gray to a shotgun to help take on the suddenly-spawning jumpscare NPCs in silly masks, then basically just got in the way as Gray took out the mooks before managing to get past Freddy’s teleport rings and beat him into unconsciousness with his baseball bat. He and Meaty took Freddy back to the organ donor place, and Gray went to deliver the heart. . .only to have an exact repeat of the last time he did his organ delivery, where the buyers tried to kill him by dropping a crate on him and shunting him into the ocean. Gray, naturally, did not die and instead climbed onto their boat to blow them up with the sticky explosives he was carrying. XD Just another day for Florida Man!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – the gift fic and Smiler’s three-part update from in-game Monday and Tuesday up for tomorrow on Victor Luvs Alice, and three ask replies for Valice Multiverse. Not bad.
*nods* A satisfying night, especially with Chapter 4 of "LB: Santa Monica's Vale of Tears" -- very glad I will indeed have that ready tomorrow evening, and without having to rush too much to get through the end! :) And tomorrow should be an interesting day, as it'll be in the 60s at one point, and then the temperature is going to crash so hard we have a winter storm to watch on Friday. *sigh* February has just been all OVER the place, man. . . Anyway, g'night!
