I Am Tired And Grouchy
Mar. 2nd, 2022 11:25 pmAnd you will see why below:
Work – Well, my day started with me being trapped in some form of traffic for roughly an HOUR because a tractor trailer jacknifed on the highway and I didn’t realize until I’d just about gotten there that my exit was completely blocked off because of it. Between the slow crawl up to the detour and then working my way to my job from the other exit (I wasn’t lost, really, just unfamiliar with where I could turn), it was a nightmare commute in – and THEN I arrived and it was ALREADY balls-to-the-wall with stuff I had to do. People calling in with credit card issues, or tax letter issues, or missing check issues; other credit card stuff I had to check on (and discovering new issues along the way); dealing with my coworkers’ requests for help. . . And then my evening commute, while not involving a truck blocking the entire damn highway, was still a hell of a slog. Add in the fact that I’m PMSing, and. . .yeah. I suppose I’ve had worse days at work, but not by much.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another thirty-odd on the bike, and more of the OxSong Covers Livestream! The gang surpassed 50K with the help of a very generous donor giving two thousand pounds, nice! :) And we had some very nice covers, including a remix of the original song to include some more orchestral elements; a version where the singer was aping Bob Dylan; one where the singer made it into a grand sort of – according to Luke, Andy, and Jane, Viking-esque – ballad; and another who made it into a smooth jazzy lounge song (including the jokey “jingle jingle jingle/everybody else in the world” snippet that became a running joke throughout the original livestream). There was even one that had an island/reggae twist to it, which Andy seemed to particularly enjoy. XD Everyone’s so talented! It’s truly awesome. :)
2. Start editing Chapter 6 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check – Alice and Tung have descended into the sewer, and Tung has decided to take the opportunity to give this still-rather-green fledgling some more information on the clans and sects and whatnot. AKA, I like his various snarky answers to the fledgling’s questions about various clans and sects in the actual game, and wanted to use them – and since it’s implied the warehouse is a bit of a hike from Santa Monica proper. . .there are worse ways to spend a trek through the sewers! As Alice will eventually discover. XD
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check, and no longer in the technical sense! Just two today –
A) Since it was a one-video-upload Wednesday, I promptly went back a couple of days into my Subs to listen to the latest Wyrd Sisters Podcast on Making Money! The general consensus on this one seemed to be “enjoyable enough, but not my favorite,” which is fair. As per usual, times marching on means some of the book’s more problematical elements – namely some of the reliance on appearance-based jokes and the inherent “capitalism good” background radiation – can really detract from the enjoyment. Also they found the pacing to be a bit off, with a lot of the book being set-up, meaning most of the action is crammed into the last third or so. But it still has a lot of fun moments, especially with Moist being, well, Moist. XD A lot of jokes were made about how he’s the bottom in his relationship with Adora Belle. XD I remember liking the book when I first read it, but I don’t think it’s quite as good as Moist’s first outing. Going Postal is probably just my favorite Discworld book period now, so the “sequels” have a high bar to clear. XD
B) And then we watched that one-video-upload – GrayStillPlays taking on more Happy Wheels! Started with the usual bottle flip (including such things as a cup of water, a tapeworm and an unlockable ball throw – which Gray won by managing to toss NIXON into the winning area after missing with his last two balls); then moved onto such boards as a couple of ball falls (one with normal sized balls, one with large balls and a secret path to money); a Pogo Jump Of Doom board that he got second try; a variety of “don’t move” boards (sliding down a giant snake and getting buffeted about by fans until landing in a driveable car); a motorcycle trip over the ocean (the wife died leaping over the waves, but the husband survived to see the poorly-drawn dolphin and the thumb-man in his boat); a “drawn” rope swing (which looked like doodles on a piece of lined paper – and had a thumbnail hole with a mine in it that Nixon had to get through; poor Gray NEARLY got it first try, but no banana); the “purple haze” ball and jet fall (with secret floaty win, and a very psychedelic main board – which, to Gray’s disappointment, he could not beat with Chaddicus the baby, only with the mom); and a trip back to elementary school that involved fighting the ghost of Tom Hardy (which Gray had to do twice because all his limbs exploded the first time). The usual ridiculous fun of the game, you know. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check, to my own surprise. I didn’t have the brainpower tonight to work on any of my drafts or start a new one, so I had to go looking for reblogs to fill out Victor Luvs Alice’s week. Fortunately I had one waiting in my drafts I could use for Thursday, then found some fic to reblog for Friday, and put up the tumblr version of the Wyrd Sisters Podcast for Saturday. So that’ll do. I’ll have to see if I can spend some time this weekend getting some more stuff ready to go, though.
Productive night, at least, I guess, but even with some of the fun stuff, my mood hasn't fully recovered. Hoping tomorrow's gonna be better. At least we're past the halfway point of the week now. . .anyway, I really need my sleep. Night all.
