Got A Rude Period Today
Mar. 3rd, 2022 11:19 pmA "rude period" being one that shows up while I'm doing something else, like getting through my morning tasks at work, meaning I might not catch it until I've already stained my underwear. *grumbles* Not too badly this time, at least, but still. Never pleasant when that happens. Getting a period is bad enough. At least we have chocolate chip cookies. . .and all the chocolate granola too.
Anyway -- how about the round-up?
Work – Well, no tractor trailers hitting four cars and jacknifing on the highway today (yikes), so the commute in was better for everyone. And despite discovering I got my period early on, the day itself wasn’t TOO bad – busy, but in a way where I got things done instead of feeling like I had tons of shit piled on me. Had some complications with a pledge I put on, but I believe that everything should be good with that now, and I fixed up a bunch of little mistakes, so. . .not great, but not awful either.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check, even with the start of the red curse – back on the bike for some virtual rolling hills and more of the OxSong Covers Livestream! Had some more amazing covers today, including a cool guitar-focused instrumental version, a lovely “a cappella” version, a synthy metal cover done by a band who apparently works with Final Fantasy music (someone called it the music for an Oxventure boss fight), and a cute one that sounded kinda retro-Hawaiian in nature. Everyone is loving how talented all the cover artists are! Still got fifteen minutes left to go as well, and Luke wants to cram in as many as he can before they must adjourn – looking forward to seeing how awesome the last few are!
2. Keep editing Chapter 6 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check – mustered my brainpower and got through Alice and Tung discussing the Brujah, Gangrel, Tremere, and Toreador clans. Tung has some strong opinions, as you’ll find out if you ask him about each clan in the game. XD But at least Alice is getting some more information. . .next up, Nosferatu and Malkavian, and then it’s onto the sects! Hopefully I will have more brain as I start to edit those. Damn period. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – two in, two out today –
A) First up, another episode of James Turner’s “Every Lot Challenge Challenge!” As usual, the house was chaotic and keeping everyone’s moods up was a hell of a chore – especially with poor Jasmin having died of too much rocket woohoo at the end of the last episode. But James was determined to bring her back, and set about trying to get it done via leaving sugar skull offerings at her grave while trying to keep the kids in halfway-good moods. It took Grim showing up again to claim one of the stray cats hanging around to get her to show up again, though – fortunately, she and Semaj were still very much in love, and some flirting and another round of much-less-deadly rocket woohoo allowed her to be moved back into the family. Unfortunately, James found that she was no longer in university, and it looked to him like her progress had been reset when he tried to re-enroll her, so it seems like she might not be getting her degree after all. (Though the comments have said that that’s because he tried to enroll her in University of Britechester when she was previously at Foxbury, so there may still be a chance!) James instead decided to focus on getting Semaj’s cooking level up so he could make Ambrosia and resurrect his beloved, and decided to count THAT as something worthy of removing a challenge!
So Semaj became the chef of the family, cooking day and night! Along the way, the family actually tried to celebrate Harvestfest (to varying degrees of success – poor Micah kept getting shocked by a gnome he offended, and the teenagers weren’t so interested in the grand meal or being thankful, so most of them ended up with just an “okay” holiday), and Semaj got a raise! This allowed James to spin the wheel – and naturally, when the ability to just make meals for money would have been super useful, the wheel picked “Quake Zone” as the lot challenge to remove. James was appropriately grouchy. XD On the positive side, though, the elder twins also grew up into young adults during this time – Chi added “Bro” to his list of traits (after initially getting “Child of the Islands” from the randomizer, but James thought that made no sense), while Donnell picked up “Materialistic.” And they both got “Responsible” from their character values, which – who expected that? XD James moved them out and gave them ten grand – and then, upon finding that didn’t allow them to get a house, just banished them to the “not-in-world” bin. XD Slightly less chaos now!
Anyway, the focus was still very much on bringing back Jasmin after that – Semaj maxed out both Cooking and Gourmet Cooking, then set about trying to get the ingredients. A Potion of Youth – easy (once he’d disabled Carl’s Mod that makes it cost a lot more). An angelfish – surprisingly easy; turns out it was available at the potions ingredients stall in the Magic Realm! A death flower?
Much harder, as that was NOT available at the stall right away (the whole reason Semaj visited!), so James was forced to set up a roof top garden and start powering up Semaj’s gardening skill. He worked pretty hard on that for a while, but then – as luck would have it – death flowers finally appeared at the potions stall! Semaj bought two, sold off most of his rooftop produce, planted one, then used the other and his other ingredients to put together the hoped-for Ambrosia. That went straight into Jasmin’s inventory, and once she ate it – back to the land of the living! With her elder years reset, no less. James spun the wheel again, and – while it was VERY close – FINALLY “Simple Living” was removed as a challenge. Whew! That just leaves the “Cat Hangout” lot trait, and James ended the episode asking for people to leave suggestions as to something special they could do to remove that one.
. . .there’s a small contingent in the comments telling him to use My Wedding Stories to get Jasmin and Semaj married again, which, rude. XD I suggested a temple run in Selvadorada – why not, huh?
B) And then second up, Call Me Kevin playing Hitman – in VR! Specifically, he was doing the “Whittlestone Creek” level from Hitman 2, killing Janus and Nolan Cassidy and searching out clues on Providence. This was accomplished – glitchily. XD The game is NOT optimized for VR, and it shows – Kevin kept flinging things around without meaning to, getting into weird little slap-fights with his overstretched hands, and generally glitching everything out. His attempt at strangling the mailman actually led to said mailman ASCENDING INTO HEAVEN. Like, he literally just flew off into the sky. Kevin needed a moment after that one. XD He also found that he could not knock out someone with a car battery for the life of him, but could (sometimes) one-punch people with his bare fists, sooo. . . His attempts to commit murder involved such shenanigans as trying to disguise himself as the real estate agent (and failing); trying to steal all the muffin guy’s muffins (and dumping them all over the ground); trying to poison everyone in Nolan's house (emetic poison, which did not have the effect he was hoping); killing two people and trying to make it look like they were lounging by the river; invading the neighborhood block party and upsetting everyone by hitting a bottle with a golf club; trying to shoot one target from the balcony roof, only to toss his gun away by accident; and basically constantly getting himself into trouble with any and all witnesses. In the end, he DID manage to kill both his targets, via “grabbing an automatic weapon and just pumping them full of lead,” but he wasn’t able to pick up all the clues he needed before dying. He did not consider it worth it to restart. XD Oh man – that was a laugh I needed today. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – with Victor Luvs Alice good, I just needed to sort out Valice Multiverse – four whole ask replies there, yay~ So that’s all good for another night!
Well, at least I still managed a productive evening, even with the period grouchiness/tiredness really starting to hit. And I've still got to make it through another workday before the weekend. . .I am eating all the granola and cereal this weekend for breakfast, I don't even care. And sleeping in and chilling. *nods* But until then, I must rest up for the final battle of the workweek. *waves* Night all!
