Lazy Friday Evening

crossover_chickI begged off my usual chats to have a quiet night off because I just wasn't really feeling it between the second day of my period, the fact that this week has had some really annoying days, and just -- not feeling particularly social. I need a night to reset with TV Tropes and looking at Sims mods and all that. Should be more back to myself tomorrow, I'm hoping. In the meantime, here's the round up for today:
Work – Well, one coworker was out, but fortunately the remaining Chatty Coworker was actually relatively quiet for most of the day working on her own stuff. Which is good, as it was a busy day – lots of little jobs that I had to do, like call someone for credit card stuff, get through the GL, fix these things for the capital campaign, put these gifts on, blah blah blah. . .I ended up leaving slightly late because of it (though that was more because I wanted to wash my lunch container and didn’t get to it until the end of the day). Most everything got done, it was just – meeh. Add in that they had to shut off the water to the bathrooms on our side AGAIN because the women’s bathroom on our floor keeps making a weird noise whenever you flush either toilet. . . Just happy it wasn’t more stressful. And that it’s the weekend.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another half-hour on the bike, to finish off the OxSong Covers Livestream! We had a cool synthy 80’s style cover; someone taking it back down again with an acoustic guitar version; and a rock instrumental version specifically designed to be a karaoke-style sing-along, which Luke, Andy, and Jane promptly sung along to. Not completely in time, but as Luke said, if you aren’t at least just a little bit off, it’s not karaoke. XD They also showed a short trailer for the next actual Oxventure to come out – “Peak Performance,” which involves the gang climbing a mountain at the request of the wizard Binbag! XD So that’s something to look forward to! And their final donation total at the end of the stream was $50,844, nice. :) Smashing that previous 10K target!
Still had roughly twelve minutes after that, so I ended up watching Simmer Erin’s video on the survey that recently came out for people who didn’t buy My Wedding Stories, talking about the various questions and her answers. I participated in a similar survey recently, though that one had an extra question about what game packs you’re familiar with. . .anyway, my answers were roughly the same as hers – I don’t play with scenarios, the only thing that would influence me to buy it would be fixing the bugs, how dare you release a pack THIS BROKEN. Meeeh – like I said, I’m starting to think it’s a longshot for me to buy ANY packs going forward. If this is what quality control looks like in the Sims offices nowadays, no thanks.
2. Keep editing Chapter 6 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check – Alice and Tung have pretty much wrapped up their conversation on the remaining clans – Nosferatu, Ventrue, and Malkavian – and have started to move into the more political side of Kindred existence. Starting with Tung’s relationship with one Jeannette. XD Dude, you’re the one who decided that whatever benefits you could gain from her were worth the risks! At least Alice won’t judge. Much. XD
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – and look at me, I got both Subs videos AND a pair of bonus videos –
A) Started with the OX lists waiting for me in the Watch Later:
I. “7 Huge PlayStation Games You’re LEAST Likely to Platinum” – OXtra taking us through a bunch of Playstation games that have very low “hey, look at you, getting all the trophies” rates! (Yes, the name refers to XBOX, but OXtra is specifically FOR other consoles and whatnot.) Would you believe that Tetris Effect has a lower Platinum rate than Bloodborne? Or that to get Platinum in The Last of Us, you must not only play the game at least twice (once in the hardest difficulty mode), but you must also listen to all of Ellie’s puns? Let’s not even talk about trying to get your giant AI pet Trico to cooperate with you to get all the trophies in The Last Guardian. . .I like to try and find secrets in games, but I think I’ll stick to 100%-ing easier stuff, like Unpacking.
II. “7 Ways Games Tricked You Into Thinking You’re Awesome | Part 2” – OXBox does a sequel to a video they did in 2017 about ways games give you a little nudge to help you feel more awesome! Like enemies on ledges in multiple games having special mechanics to make sure they ragdoll satisfyingly over the edge when you shoot them. Or Portal 2 knowing that a player going through the ending is PROBABLY going to forget what color portal to shoot at the moon and makes sure it’s always blue. Or Resident Evil 4 having adaptive difficulty that makes the enemies more aggressive or more passive depending on how much you, personally, are flailing about. It’s neat stuff, and honestly, I don’t mind games giving me a hand with making me feel better at them. Getting off a good shot or getting the AI to cooperate sometimes is hard enough as it is!
B) And then it was over to the Subs for Call Me Kevin and Together BnB, the weirdest dating sim (plus a whole bunch of other sims) he has seen on Steam! It’s SUPPOSEDLY about running an AirBnB with a bunch of cute women with horrible voice acting, with the added mystery of finding out what happened to your brother Max, who has disappeared, but in practice. . .well, “glitchy mess” is a good start. Your character will be randomly teleported at the game’s whim; prices for items are hilariously inflated; you have to walk down the highway until you somehow get a car from the guns guy? And then you can do some serious offroading in it and kill deer for their pelts to make money. And there’s a random handgun in what I think is your brother’s room, and yes, you CAN kill the other characters, either by mistake (as Kevin did midway through) or deliberately (as Kevin did at the end). Honestly, Kevin was just very cranky that, while we had car-driving Sim, relationship sim, and basketball sim, he could never actually get to the cooking sim part of it! He was so excited to cook up his chicken legs, which cost him the equivalent of three deer skins. . . I think you’ll have to head back to the Cooking Simulator series for that, Kevin!
C) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and another organ harvesting job in GTA V! Today it was getting an Among Us impostor crewmate liver! Gray was originally sent out to a construction site with Meaty Bits the deer and a stun gun to collect Red, fighting his way past the various Yellow bodyguards with Up-And-Atomizers (sends you flying) and flare guns – but when he got him back to the organ harvesting area, he learned that the Pink crewmate sponsoring the mission was the real impostor! And they weren’t afraid to exploit Gray’s greatest weakness – FIGURING OUT HIS WAY ACROSS A LEVEL WITHOUT ARROWS! XD He DID make it over to Pink, though it took some awkward parkour and discovering a ladder he missed on his second attempt. And some terrible fighting against the guardian Yellows. XD But he got Pink, loaded him onto Meaty Bits, and fought his way past the cops, picking up a flamethrower from one (the guy threatened to cook Meaty Bits! Not on!) before hopping on a Sprunk motorcycle and overshooting the checkpoint with his cool trick, meaning he had to go back to go through after crashing. XD The organ guys insisted he bring Meaty Bits and some actual guns to the meet-up to exchange the organ this time, which FINALLY allowed Gray to subvert the usual formula, crush the buyers under a crate, grab the money, and make an epic escape on Meaty Bits through the maze of shipping containers! Culminating with them all sailing away on a tugboat driven by Red, with Gray using a rocket launcher on those who would stop him. XD Delightful as always, Gray!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – a couple of ask replies on Valice Multiverse, and I was set.
Not too shabby -- good writing, very good videos. :) And now, for tomorrow:
1. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again"
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs and watch at least the Plumbella video in the Watch Later
3. Play Sims 4 and see if Victor's up for a Love Day date with Smiler
4. Work on tumblr drafts
