Still Don't Have The Hang Of Thursdays
Apr. 21st, 2022 11:35 pmAs will become apparent shortly:
Work – Well, you know any day that starts with your boss texting everyone to tell them that he and his fiancee both tested positive for Covid is gonna be fun. *sigh* (I did a home test – so far, so negative, yay. This is why I insist on masking in public!) Spent most of the day stressing over that, and stressing over credit card nonsense – reviewing what was STILL waiting to be fixed and e-mailing them about the worst of it. Got on a few gifts and made some adjustments to things as well. Not a particularly busy day, but – stressful. Here’s hoping Friday’s better.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike to finish off the Oxventure Stream “Hunter Pressure!” Rodrigo and Neve ended up taking 18 damage each from the carbonated acid piss bucket. XD Dob made a off-hand joke about this all being a prank Orbo played that Johnny forced him to roll for – his performance was underwhelming, and so combat began anew! Johnny let them keep the old initiative order, just adding Rodrigo and Neve to the list, and let Dob open. Dob presented both of them with a shrug that suggested “I didn’t want the morning to go like this either” –
And hit them with his crossest, grumbliest Thunderwave. You know, the electric cube of death? Johnny asked everyone where they were hiding – Corazon smartly went for the en-suite bathroom, and Merilwen was tucked in a corner just out of range. . .but Egbert, in the middle of the room, and Prudence, perched atop the wardrobe, both had to make saving throws. Prudence (and Rodrigo) both passed and only took 9 points of damage; Egbert (and Neve) both failed and took the full 18. Meaning Dob took off a good half of Egbert’s health in one go. XD He was admittedly full of apologies, but – it’s been THAT kind of night. Rodrigo attempted to retaliate by hitting Egbert with some sort of ice beam spell, but missed (he’s having a night too) and hit the wall instead. After a brief “camera pan” back to Robin, still waiting to pull down that harp, the turn-based combat moved to Merilwen!
Merilwen, deciding stealth was no longer needed, turned into a bear and mauled the hell out of Neve. XD How Neve was not dead at THAT point amazes me, but she was NOT doing good. Corazon looked at all this chaos from the safety of his en-suite –
And decided to try talking to them, because shouldn’t they be seeking non-violent solutions? XD He told Rodrigo and Neve that it was probably best for them to give up now, the Oxventurers are clearly too awesome and cool to be hunted, yadda yadda yadda – Rodrigo was pretty much ready to give up the ghost, but upon hearing that the Oxventurers had ALSO ruined the cake, Neve attempted to invoke a fiery Hellish Rebuke upon Bearilwen!
. . .One bad roll later, and all Neve managed to do was lightly singe Bearilwen’s snout. With things obviously turning in their favor, Prudence decided to “unmercy kill” Neve with an Agonizing Blast, while inflicting some damage on Rodrigo at the same time. Neve got blasted into the wall (though she managed to get up a certain finger before she expired), and Rodrigo continued to have a bad time. Leaving only Egbert left!
Egbert devoured both his Scotch Eggs in one fell swoop, recovering 7 points of health, and then just straight-up suplexed Rodrigo – into the bottles he broke, though that wasn’t his actual intention. Rodrigo was only too happy to let them go then. Especially after Robin, worried and tired of waiting, yanked down his harp and came running up to help. And then his remaining two hunters showed up, saw the mess, and began fighting over Corazon (namely, Furio wanting to kill him, Ashlin wanting VERY MUCH to keep him alive), causing them to fall down the stairs and Robin to run over and hit them with a chunk of harp. XD The gang got Rodrigo to agree to let them go, stop trapping and hunting people (with Merilwen just straight up Moonbeaming the courtyard trap to destroy it, incinerating Orbo’s corpse in the process), and to let his niece go to follow her passions. Rodrigo did this by firing her, leaving her to find her own way off the plinth she was now stuck on. Fortunately Dob, always the hero, was able to use his mad acrobatic skills to leap over there and be heroic enough the ropes basically untied themselves. XD
And so the story ended with everyone (including the niece, because Dob wanted to try and give her her big break there) rushing off to get Robin to his daughter’s wedding! (Well, after Corazon took a moment to give Rodrigo his “raven number” and tell him to pass it onto Ashlin. XD) Dob held court at the party telling everyone fantastic anecdotes about the previous adventure; Corazon, Merilwen, and Prudence had a good time boozing it up in the corner, trying not to stink too much of acid wee; Egbert ended up arriving hours late because his overstuffed seal proved quite the burden to carry around. XD And then the niece, Marie (as we learned at the last minute), tried to entertain everyone with her acting/singing – and was so awful that she was run out of town. XD The party kinda went downhill after that, even with Dob jumping out of a hastily-reconstructed cake taken from the Bellaforte kitchens – although Johnny made sure to note that the marriage was NOT annulled on the spot, though it might not last as long as anyone hoped either. XD Ah well – they’re still alive, and that’s the main thing. XD And next up – a leveling up episode! That’ll be fun. . .
2. Keep editing Chapter 6 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale of Tears”: Check! Another three pages in – Alice has made it through the broken-down house, across the train yard, up and over the loading dock train, into the attic, and is now currently crawling her way across the thin steel beams that make up the ceiling over the main warehouse floor. It’s dangerous stuff, to be sure – especially when you have powerful explosives strapped to your back. But so far, so good. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Technically N/A today, as I DIDN’T have any Subs, thanks to all their schedules syncing up in a “not posting today” kinda way. But I did find a few things to watch –
A) First up, the latest OXBox list: “7 Videogame Memes So Good They Made it Into the Game!” Times when memes about games got referenced in later games by the developers. “Guile’s Theme Goes With Everything?” Capcom itself agrees with a cheat code in Street Fight X Mega Man that allows you to change all stage themes to Guile’s theme! Keanu Reeves calling an audience member at E3 “breathtaking” after they called him same? Cyberpunk 2077 has both a photo mode pose referencing his stance during the line, and an achievement for finding all of Johnny Silverhand’s (Keanu’s character) stuff in the game named after it. The infamous “I used to be an adventurer like you. . .then I took an arrow in the knee?” from Skyrim? A later Elder Scrolls card game made it an actual playable action card against your enemies! “The cake is a lie” from Portal?
Not on the list! Yes, I did in fact mention that in the comments. XD Though I guess the title is “Memes So GOOD,” and I think we can all agree that one’s a bit tired. But surely the “cake dispensary” door from GLaDOS’s trap in Portal 2 still counts as a reference? Maybe? Hmmm. . .well, the LEGO games apparently made the cake more important, so perhaps they could talk about those instead in a future video. XD
B) And then I checked out a Sims 4 mods video out of curiosity, by one “SIMplycoya” – who has so much alpha content in her game that it didn’t even look like Sims 4 anymore. o.O Someone actually compared it to Paralives’s art style, which, trust me, fair. Game also ran like a laggy bitch, but she seemed unbothered, so. . . Anyway, she showcased a few small mods that she felt added to the game – stuff like LilMissSam’s rabbithole activities for Sims to attend off-lot, MissyHissy’s Personality Mod (featuring reward traits based around the old Sims 2 aspirations) – oh, and one I use myself, Cute Romance by thepancake1 and MizoreYukii! :) Have to remember to update that one on Saturday, actually – they updated the animations for the “cuddle from behind” interaction. Some nice stuff in there to try out, I think.
C) And finally, just because it keeps popping up in my Recommendeds, “6 Hidden Gems in Alton Towers” by “The First Drop” – showcasing a few little tidbits that most guests might not know about or pay attention to. Like the fact that the park’s first major roller coaster, Corkscrew, is memorialized at the entrance with a preserved piece of track! Or the fact you can wander both the grounds AND the Alton Towers castle/residence! Or that a certain piece of equipment in the Oblivion queue is an old projector from a Planetarium attraction the Towers used to host. Pretty neat stuff! :)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – one very late ask reply plus a reblog of some neat Alice gifs on Valice Multiverse, yay.
So yeah, bad start to the day, but at least I got stuff done going forward once I got home. Hopefully Friday will be better -- well, it kind of has to be, simply by dint of being Friday, but still. :P Night all!
