The to-do list puts it best:

Work – VERY quiet day – like two phone calls. I spent most of my day doing address updates and slowly getting more bored. I still prefer this to being overstressed from TOO MUCH to do, but – it’s still not exactly pleasant. Meeh. One more day to go!

Beanbags – Yes, because it was finally nice enough and the equipment was dry enough! And I had a shockingly good day – came back from a starting zero to win in the first game, then just swept the second with a couple of fives and a ten. Then I got stuck on threes in the third and Mom managed to come ahead. XD Final scores were me W-W-3; Dad 2-2-2; Mom 3-3-W. Not exactly even, but I’ll take it. :p

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the Oxventure “Brine and Punishment!” Prudence managed to successfully explain the concept of “insurance fraud” to Dob – turns out Dob’s hang-up was that he was under the impression the bottom of the sea was where the gold belonged in the first place. XD But yes, it was agreed by the group that they needed to rescue Puckett – Egbert because it was the right thing to do; Corazon, Merilwen, and Dob to see where he stood on the whole “insurance fraud” thing (which side of the fight he was on); and Prudence to just ensure SOMEONE suffered for all this nonsense. :p They turned back to the Saghoolie and explained they were willing to bargain to get the prisoner – the Saghoolie said that they could have Puckett if they promised to leave quickly – then, seeing this wasn’t exactly a hardship for them, insisted they take the other boat out of the shark god’s waters. Merilwen attempted to pretend that wasn’t basically what they wanted anyway, but didn’t do well enough on her Charisma roll against the guy, so they also had to hand over some cash. Ah well. With that sorted, the group declined taking the ceremonial kiss from the Saghoolie to get water breathing (as Merilwen was able to cast it on her own), Dob handed over the rat to Rust to protect as their “secondary witness” (cue the ridiculous Tom & Jerry antics as Rust let his cat instincts take over), and the gang descended below the waves!

And – got the imprisoned Puckett back with no issue! Turns out the Saghoolie they were talking to was well-respected and of high rank in their little underwater city, and he was able to just order the release of the prisoner and be obeyed. There was a little bit of trouble with one of the guards banging on the bell jar, and then the Saghoolie having to chase Puckett around to try and give him the water-breathing kiss (he finally managed to explain via hand gestures and talking louder and slower in his native gestures, and Puckett reluctantly puckered up), but the gang got Puckett no problem. I mean, they then proceeded to absolutely freak him out via Octowen pulling him in for cuddles, but fortunately a good roll on her part meant that she was able to calm him down with some tentacle head pets. :p They ascended back to the surface (Octowen and the others going up slowly to avoid the bends, while Corazon activated his flotation pants and rose rapidly back to the surface – he managed to avoid the bends, but Johnny ruled all the blood vessels in one eye burst, leaving it crimson, and he couldn’t immediately deflate the pants) and asked Puckett what he knew. Turns out the guy was on the “regular crew without a clue” side of the conflict – he actually admitted to having killed Bunk himself in hand-to-hand combat. He wasn’t aware of the artificially-inflated manifest at all, and was horrified and furious when Prudence and Corazon showed him the papers that his employer would mark an entire crew for death just to squeeze a little more money out of an ailing ship – he knew Rebelstoke (the actual name of the merchant, I missed it before) was an asshole, but DAMN. Oh, and while all this was going on, Egbert and Dob went to check on the rat, and JUST managed to save it from Rust’s jaws – though it had gotten its own back on him by using him as a spittoon for all its tobacco. :p

Anyway – Puckett was on board with getting revenge on Rebelstoke, but said that the guy was a super rich merchant in Port Morecow and even with them pulling in the ship and getting his word (and the rat’s) about what happened, Rebelstoke would probably beat the rap. They needed a way to prove things beyond a shadow of a doubt. Dob suggested them all dressing up as rats and claiming to be witnesses, while Prudence suggested dressing up as the ghosts of the crew and tormenting him Christmas Carol style – the plan they settled on, though, was breaking into his house and looking for incriminating evidence. With that sorted, the gang prepared to try and sail the two ships, using the Baying Hound (it was that!) to tow the Joyful Damnation along. Merilwen, however, objected, saying she was tired and sad and that Dob HAD a skeleton crew on call. . .

And Dob capitulated to her demands and summoned the skeletons, to Puckett’s terror. XD The skeletons rushed to “comfort” Merilwen by brushing her hair, then used a giant pair of shears to mess up her bangs (Johnny initially said they just GAVE her bangs, but Ellen reminded them that Merilwen already HAD bangs – the reason SHE didn’t was because, you know, QUARANTINE). Once that was done, Dob asked the skeletons to help them sail the ships to port (throwing around nautical terms until it was pointed out he’d used two for the same thing, the back of the boat), and promised that he understood they would enact a terrible price and that there would be minimal complaining. The skeletons happily set to work, sailing the ships to Port Morecow – along the way powerbombing poor Puckett multiple times, killing five albatrosses to hang around the Oxventurers’ necks – then, seeing that actually WENT with Dob’s half-orc aesthetic, killing a turtle so they could stick the shell on him – then stopping the Joyful Damnation in the bay before half of them leapt onto another ship to set it ablaze and the other half ran the Baying Hound aground. Egbert noted this seemed like a LOT of terrible prices for one journey, but the skeletons pointed out it had been a while, and Dob said it WAS hard work to sail a ship, so he felt like this was a pretty good outcome. :p

And so the skeletons went back in the hammer, and the group is now in the process of figuring out where Rebelstoke’s house is so they can rob it. Puckett has been given the turtle shell as makeshift armor as he is now worried about being murdered by his former employer, poor sod. *pats him* About a half-hour of this silliness to go – we’ll see how it all wraps up! (And if Johnny can keep Puckett’s name straight – they have a tendency to keep calling him “Plunkett,” to their own annoyance. Apparently they could already see the Twitter infographics about how often they got the name wrong. XD)

2. Continue writing “As Long As You Love Me”: Check – finished up the rewrite of the “Out of the Woods Yet” snippet, with Alice confessing to Victor that she may have ACCEPTED her fate as a holistic assassin – but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t wish that she had a normal life. And that she wants HIM to have what she can’t now. And Victor’s like – he understands that, he wants to get away from the murder. . .but he still feels like everything is off-kilter somehow. . . Oof. :( Next up, Alice dropping them off at Victor’s house, which is gonna be ALL sorts of angsty fun. . .

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – kept it simple tonight with the single Call Me Kevin upload I had in the Subs, “A VR game has never trolled me this hard” – aka Kevin plays A Fisherman’s Tale! As the title says, it’s a VR game, and the premise is – well, okay, the story is a bit difficult to follow, but for most of it you’re playing as a puppet version of a fisherman, and you live in a weird set of nested models – you have your own tiny model of the lighthouse and attached house you live in, and you’re part of ANOTHER model a bigger version of you can play with. And all of the models are connected – if you move something in the tiny version of the lighthouse, it’ll move in your own version and the big version. This is important to solving the puzzles, as sometimes you need to find a way to get the tiny version or the really big version of items so you can use them appropriately (like giving a tiny hat to a crab living in your “lucky shell,” or getting a big version of a toy ladder so you can climb up it in the super-big version of the lighthouse and get a key). The ultimate goal was to assemble a toy boat to go sailing in and get to the top of the lighthouse to actually light it, in order to possibly save the human version of the person you are a puppet version of – like I said, actual story is a bit difficult to follow. But the game itself looked fun, and Kevin really stretched his brain figuring out the various size-changing puzzles. And fighting with the claw machine crane in the midsection. XD Interesting stuff!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Five ask replies over on Valice Multiverse in the queue! And I also made a point tonight to catch up on all missed messages and tumblr posts I’ve been meaning to get to (hence why I kept it to just watching Kevin), so THAT’S all sorted for five minutes. :p Glad to have the clean inbox and all my owed comments paid!

Yaaay. . .and now that that's all set, and I'm caught up on my tumblr dashboard, it is time to head to bed and hope I get some decent sleep. As stated above, one more day to get through -- first full Friday since June, meeeh. :( Well, hopefully it won't be too bad. Night all!
