Fortunately with a minimum of fuss, though I did have an absolutely SHITTY night's sleep last night (weird noises woke me up just as I was getting to sleep and my brain did "fight or flight," then I KEPT waking up randomly, and -- ugh), and there were some pretty annoying moments throughout the day (like discovering my stupid car needs me to reset the tire pressure monitor instead of just sensing that the tire is full again after sensing it was low), but still. Made it through the to-do list all right --

Work – Fairly quiet day – a couple of phone calls to update credit card stuff, more obituaries, the GL. Lunch was annoyingly delayed quite a bit by people being in the kitchen, but other than that, not really anything to write home about. *shrug* We’ll see if the rest of the week follows suit!

Beanbags – Not today – it sprinkled a bit this morning, and basically threatened to rain the rest of the day, with a TINY bit of sunlight peeking through the clouds in the late afternoon. Supposed to rain, possibly even thunderstorm (more), tonight, so Tuesday isn’t looking good either, but – again, we’ll see!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike again this night, and over to the next Oxventure, “Crawl Me Maybe!” The gang remained in Port Morecow as Prudence got over her initial werebear transformation and slowly returned to her usual self, and the adventure itself picked up about a week later, with them lounging in a nice park! (And, if you believe the intro, debating what cheeses fit them best.) Corazon was trying to get Prudence to turn him into a werebear, and Dob was trying to distract him by flipping coins into the well, as you do. XD Corazon had just accidentally blinded himself temporarily using his spyglass to look at the sun while trying to study the moon (to determine Prudence’s cycle of change on G’eth; turns out it’s a lunar month similar to Earth’s) when suddenly –

A guy in rather ordinary farming clothes came racing up to them, plopped down on the grass, and said he’d finally made it! Everyone was like, okay, great, do you have a message for us, but the guy was like, “No? You called me? Said I should come at once? It’s Bob?” There was a moment of confusion –

And then Prudence was like “oh, shit.” Because remember how, a little while back, they had that museum adventure with Luke in the DM’s chair, meaning Dob couldn’t participate? And the set-up for that was his sister kicking Corazon, Prudence, and Merilwen out of the house so she and her brother could get some breathing room to help the convalescent Egbert (this was right after they’d saved him from Liliana)? At that time, Prudence tried to Message Dob angrily, saying that the Oxventurers were his real family and he should come join them at once – but because she was out of range, it accidentally hit a random farmer named Bob in a one-off joke.

THE ONE-OFF JOKE HAS JOINED THE PARTY. XD Bob was so eager to answer the call of adventure that he immediately threw down his rake and ran after them, and he’s been chasing them ever since, eager to find out why they called him. There was a group huddle – Corazon was all for kicking him out because pure ordinary human NPC, poor naive guy would get killed immediately; Merilwen and Egbert pointed out that he HAD managed to run all this way without dying, so he couldn’t be completely helpless; Prudence said they could always use a counterweight or ballast and no she did NOT want to admit one of her spells went wrong. Dob chimed in that he could also be used for spare blood. XD Corazon still immediately tried to kick him to the curb, but the others overruled him, explained that they were adventurers, and asked if he had any adventuring skills. As it turns out, he can spell “healing” and draw horse pictures that are somehow terrible puns that I don’t understand. XD The gang felt a little sorry for him, though, and as it turned out he’d seen a dungeon on his way over to them, complete with a jeweled door! Corazon was like “well I’M in,” and the others said they were up for some proper dungeon crawling (note: have they EVER actually done a traditional dungeon crawl? I can’t recall off the top of my head), so they decided that taking him through the dungeon could be like his trial run. Corazon promised him three percent of the riches – and when Bob asked about the other eighty-two percent (because surely if he got three percent, they ALL got three percent), he and Egbert claimed taxes. XD Dob also gave him a dagger, and after there was some discussion over whether or not he could earn a borrowed shortsword later (Egbert said it was very dependent on Bob not stabbing them), offered him first pick of any cool bows in the dungeon. Merilwen IMMEDIATELY objected because come on guys. XD So instead Bob will have first pick of any rakes, which suits him.

With that all sorted, Bob led them off to the dungeon! It was a nice heavy double door with three rubies and an inscription in Dwarfish, which Corazon used Comprehend Languages to read (playing it up for Bob all the while). Turned out to be just a note about how this is the second entrance of three into an old dwarven mine, and another note about how the mine went bad, so now it’s classified as a dungeon. The gang decided to start by getting the rubies out of the doors as guaranteed treasure – Prudence nearly just dove right in there, but Corazon managed to get her to pause long enough to let him check for traps. They were NOT booby-trapped, however – and neither were they particularly magical when Prudence gave them a scan (just had a spell holding them in that had weakened over time). Prudence thus tried to pry them out –

And biffed the roll. Damn. Some discussion started up about the merits of finding a way inside the mine versus trying to get the rubies out – Dob in particular was like “do we really want the entire adventure to be about getting these rubies out of the door?” XD After examining the doors for more places to slot gems IN (no go), he decided to use his rapier to just try digging straight down into the mines themselves – and actually got a pretty decent hole going, slashing out big blocks of turf before needing to slow down as he hit gravel. Corazon, meanwhile, used his lovely thieving skills and his “gem scoop” to remove the rubies, and Egbert leaning on the door moved it a little, meaning he and Corazon were able to just push it open in the end. Good thing, too, as an overexcited Bob had just barreled into it and probably concussed himself. XD Egbert strode right in before Corazon could continue being cool in front of Bob and start checking for more traps, and the rest of the team followed, with Bob revealing that he was fully prepared to take “dungeon crawl” entirely literally. XD Nobody wants to tell him otherwise. XD That is where I have left it at the moment – next time, we get to see what’s actually in this dungeon!

2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has made it to Jezebel Locke’s suite, and has been hit by the woman’s Presence – even SHE thinks Jezebel looks good. However, being largely asexual and still madder than a wet hen, it’s not exactly having its full effect. Jezebel’s tried to seduce her into surrendering to her talents, but that hasn’t worked out the way she hoped. So next time – FIGHT SCENE! :D And Alice gets to freak out another vampire with her Wonderlandian visions. . .

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check, despite a passing thunderstorm forcing me to shut off my computer for a little bit – just had the one thing in the Subs, so I grabbed a bonus video along the way –

A) First up, from the Watch Later, a new OXBox list: “Resident Evil Village DLC Shadows of Rose: 6 Ways It’s Different (and One Way It’s The Same)!” Yes, Resident Evil Village is finally getting some DLC, and in addition to a third-person mode for the main game (Ethan Winters FINALLY has a face, it seems) and a “Mercenaries” arcade mode where you play as Lady D slashing up enemies, there’s also the Shadows of Rose sequel campaign, in which Rose – Ethan’s superpowered daughter – runs around a fungus-baby’s mental copy of Castle D dealing with horrible red sludge that she can dry up by using her powers on flowers and face-eating Molded variants. Yes, it is pure weird Resident Evil goodness, in third person and with the ability to slow enemies so you can better shoot them in the crotch. I approve. *nods*

B) And then in the Subs we had today’s GrayStillPlays: “I simulated real life in GTA 5!” As per usual, it was a new board from Alex, with the story that Gray chose to spend the entire night before drinking and now has to pay the price via parkour. Really, really MEAN parkour, no less – the theme of this particular board just so happened to be “shit that moves out from under you, so be prepared.” Started with a motorcycle slide where Gray had to hit a target with a sticky bomb to remove the wall blocking him from the rest of the board; then moved onto a race across a platform with two rotating blocks causing “waves” across it that Gray had to carefully ride over – and of course they were going in opposite directions; THEN moved onto Gray having to jump onto a ring of moving blocks and make his way around them so he could get to the stairs leading to the central cylinder – and of course some of the blocks were rotating, or morphing, or had moving walls he had to dodge along the way; THEN he had to navigate his way to the central platform in the cylinder via more moving platforms that regularly crossed over and blocked each other – Alex was at least nice enough to color code them; THEN he had to drop through the center and get teleported into the carousel of death in the outer cylinder, riding the moving rim and dodging a variety of red walls (some moving in weird ways, others just blocking his path) to make it to the spot with the checkpoint that would finally teleport him OUT of this horror. XD Took QUITE a few tries on Gray’s part, but eventually he succeeded and was rewarded with riches and a badass girlfriend. XD I don’t think that’s the last of the “horrible moving stuff that tries to throw you off or crush you” torture method, though. . .not if I know Alex, at any rate. XD

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: N/A on actual queue stuff, but I made an effort to clear some stuff out of my e-mail inbox and review Moose’s two “Book of Baines” shortfics on tumblr, so I’m gonna go ahead and call THAT a check. Just missed out on catching up on Ace’s PM – see if I can get to that tomorrow!

Yes, I do keep mentioning that PM so I don't forget it about, thank you for asking. XD I just don't want to "leave them on read" too long, is all! But I'm glad I caught up with comments (both here and on AO3) and Moose's fics, that makes me feel better. Hopefully I can keep catching up with stuff as the week goes on! Night all!
