Slightly Better Time Management Thursday
Sep. 29th, 2022 11:48 pmI mean, I'm still updating super-late, but that's because I spent the evening bouncing between four different message sets I had to answer (Moose from here, Ace from FF.net, and my friends Nebby and Squid from tumblr). Got them all sorted too, which is good. And it was a less-stressful day over all (for me, at least, my parents are still fighting the Kitchen Renovation battle, sadly), so I was able to accomplish a bit more --
Work – Another very quiet day – I spent pretty much the whole time working on cleaning up my duplicates list. *shrug* It makes the day go by, I guess!
Beanbags – Yes – cloudy and cooler as we get closer to October, but still nice enough to play. And we had a somewhat more equal game this time – Mom managed to pull out some good throws in the first round; I squeaked by Dad in the second; and Dad got a ten to seal the deal in the third. Final scores were me 3-W-2; Dad 2-2-W; Mom W-3-3. Yay. :D
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike to complete the “OX Blades In The Dark” score, “The Cab-Con Caper” and to start episode 10 of James Turner’s High School Years Rags To Riches! Here’s how each went:
The Cab-Con Caper – Having completed their score by scaring their overly-chatty gondolier into silence, Luke wrapped up the aftermath for Kasimir and Edvard – they were able to get their samples to their address that Eleanor, their patron, had provided in her letter (Kasimir admitting that his sample was probably contaminated by all the poo, so they should use Edvard’s), resulting in a headline a few weeks later about the Clelland company apparently pumping leviathan blood into poor old Bessie. As leviathan blood is at best a controlled substance and at worst the living fluids of an eldritch whale-thing, there was quite a bit of scandal attached to this! So yeah, bad things going down for Clelland – and for Astor’s company, thanks to that failed spoke. Edvard was very pleased about the latter. XD
With that sorted, the only thing left was to let the boys take their downtime activities – Kasimir chose to relieve stress by tending his busted knee and his brace (which, as you might expect, was all mucked up with goat shit) – he did this twice and halved his stress from twelve to six, whew. Edvard, meanwhile, decided to devote all his energy to working on his line launcher (aka his grappling hook) – his first roll wasn’t great, but he scored a six on his second try, so Luke decided that he’d filled his simple project clock and that the launcher worked much better and hardly ever caught on fire. XD Well, better than it immediately bursting into flames the next time they need it! XD And that was their score – good times, good times. Looking forward to the next one! Which will be in November for me, because Orbpocalypse is nigh. . .
HSY RTR – Returning to James Turner and Reginald Bigwallet, James has decided to skip this week’s prom in favor of having a bunch of people over Reginald’s micro house to try and take advantage of the boosts to social interactions (while acknowledging that this could backfire horribly, as gains AND losses are doubled – case in point, Reginald was a bit rude to his mother Column at the end of the last episode without James noticing, and now their previously-good relationship is slightly in the red). So the first part of the episode was to rearrange Reginald’s house to allow for some party stuff – shrinking the bathroom (switching to a stall-less shower allowed him to save space by putting it right in front of the toilet!), moving the kitchen into the resultant nook (and getting rid of the microwave and the minifridge in favor of a normal counter – he kept the island counter “desk” set-up, though), walling off the bedroom, and SOMEHOW finding the space to fit a games table in the “living room.” *shrug* Reginald was able to navigate and use everything, sooo – fair play there! If I ever do any tiny home play (and I have considered it for a challenge save), these are good tips. :P
Anyway, with that sorted, it was time to actually play! Reginald had a good day at school, managing to keep his new “A” for a third day in a row and finally progress to the last goal of his “Goal Oriented” teen-specific aspiration, which was earn money from a side hustle. James made the decision that Reginald would grow up and graduate once that was done (because at the time he was recording, the worst of the aging bug was still a thing, so he had aging up automatically turned off), so he’s only got a limited amount of school time left! He also did some posting on Social Bunny (making Good Friends with Molly through a friendly post complimenting her style), and made an effort to meet as many classmates as possible so he had more people he could potentially invite over for games. This all left him pretty exhausted, though, so after attending cheer, he invited Sidney over to get him to promise to skip prom with him, then went straight to bed.
And then Sidney’s sister showed up and tried to ask Reginald to the prom “as friends.” XD I think James was TEMPTED by the drama for a second, but told her “no way” – which unfortunately tanked their relationship. He did his best to repair it on exam day (in between exams, of course), and made a bit of progress, at least. He also aced his exams, and managed to get to ThrifTea to create a new outfit to sell (he hasn’t yet moved “Flower Power,” though Vlad DID finally buy his Batuu cosplay since it was so heavily discounted XD). Him getting ready to hype the outfit was where I left it off – tomorrow, we finish this up and see how the get-together went!
2. Continue writing “As Long As You Love Me”: Check – finished Chapter 8 and the “Are You Ready For It” segment, with Victor getting proof that he’s doing what he’s supposed to by leaving Hill Valley. In the form of the universe having some asshole mistake him for a valet and basically give him a car. XD So yeah, left off with Victor hitting the road – next up is the last chapter, where Victor and Alice finally reunite, w00. :) I imagine I might actually have this first draft done by the end of October! That’d be nice. :)
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – managed to catch up on my GrayStillPlays from yesterday and clear a couple of items from the Watch Later –
A) First up, we had The Red Plumbob and “♦ Werewolves - Evolution ♦ Sims 2 - Sims 3 - Sims 4 (Part 2)!” Yes, the second half of the comparison of werewolves across the series, showing that, when Sims 4 puts its mind to it, it can make some awesome occult characters. Sims 2 and Sims 3 werewolves seem rather limited by comparison. . .though props to Sims 3 for having an easy “hey, let’s be a pack for a while” option. If only it was easier to do that through the Get Together clubs! But yeah, the variety of powers on offer, the fun customizable look, the lore present throughout, the fact that rampaging werewolves will stop to give toddlers hugs because toddlers see them as big puppies just playing – Sims 4 werewolves are awesome. :) More of this, please!
B) Then it was over to OXBox for their latest list – “7 Most Overpowered Pre-Order Bonuses That Made the Game Stupidly Easy!” Yes, bonuses for those players willing to put down the cash early that gave them a worrying advantage in the game – like the ‘Merica gun (guns, flamethrower, AND rocket launcher all taped together) in Saints Row 4: Commander In Chief edition, or the Zealot suit (extra armor AND extra inventory) and rivet gun (shoots hot rivets that can pin necromorphs to walls) in Dead Space 2: Collector’s Edition – or over their peers – like the buyers of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Day Zero Edition, who got a full FREE DAY to try out the multiplayer aspect AND earn DOUBLE XP while they did! Talk about unfair. . .still not enough to tempt me to pre-order anything, though. *eyes all those people who pre-ordered VTMB2 for the bonuses and are now wondering if the game will ever come out at all*
C) And finally it was back to the Subs to actually watch GrayStillPlay’s video from yesterday – “I became president only to end humanity!” No, this wasn’t a weird mobile game as I thought before – it was actually a set of GTA V challenge boards from our friend Alex! The conceit being that Gray, having become president, had access to Air Force One and some literal wingmen (two fighter jets with missiles on either side of him), and he had to fly through various spots on the Big Clock of Challenges (a doomsday clock, perchance?) and do things like fly through a cut-out in the ocean to sink all the terrorist submarines, before doing math to figure out which chunk of the clock to go through to get to his next challenge (Gray hated that particular bit XD). In order, he did the submarine business; then two “get the plane through this thumbnail hole in the tube” challenges (one where the hole, a giant clamper thing, was rotating; the other where the ground was popping up under him and making it harder for him to maneuver) so he could then stall, get out of the plane, swim to a provided car, then ram some crates around to move the top two boxes blocking the middle hole on the clock into a better position; then a challenge where he had to shoot down all the terrorist PLANES circling the airport, before ramming the final one; then another math challenge leading him to two “park the plane on this building” challenges so he could get two more cars to move the two boxes on the BOTTOM of the middle hole into the right spots; then finally fly Air Force One sideways through the resultant thumbnail hole in the center of the clock to make it to the final teleporter and fly into the win. All of this was very fiddly because apparently Air Force One just doesn’t fly very well. XD Also Gray kept crashing into things randomly, and SOMEHOW once managed to fly into the water while fighting the submarines, do a barrel roll, and teleport back to the military base where he started! . . .he was confused too, trust me. XD Oh Gray. I hope you’re doing okay with the hurricane!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – while I forgot to sort out my Song Saturday on Victor Luvs Alice, I got my ask reply on Valice Multiverse done, AND finally answered my friend Ace’s FF.net PM! So I will count that as completing the task. :p
And now I must hurry off to bed, for I have one day before the weekend! Which is also a cleaning weekend, but what can you do. *shrug* Night all!
Work – Another very quiet day – I spent pretty much the whole time working on cleaning up my duplicates list. *shrug* It makes the day go by, I guess!
