Yeah, I have to say, I had a pretty good day today! Got the vast majority of the stuff I wanted to get done, done:

Tumblr: Did the dash-and-tags check on Victor Luvs Alice before lunch this morning, along with doing a draft of Christmas-related Valicer headcanons and adding some stuff to my next idea for a Not-Incorrect Valicer Quotes post. :) Not really anything going on on Valice Multiverse at the moment.

Sims 4: Had a good day in the old Chill Save (I should really rename it the Valicer Save, though, because it’s anything but Chill these days XD) – while I didn’t actually get the trio any cats or dogs, I think I’ve located the cat and the dog I’d like to join their household. Let me take you through the day (which, I remind you, is still Fall Tuesday for them) –

A) After turning on all the lights briefly to take a proper picture of the new study for this week’s “hey look at how I upgraded the house” Chill Save update on Victor Luvs Alice, I had Alice head out onto the porch to scrap the painting someone else started on the easel out there and start painting herself (looking for that elusive last masterpiece that’ll let me complete her Painter Extraordinaire aspiration), while Smiler (finally out of their ninja costume) headed out to the barn to work some more on their party bot. Victor I let sleep in until I realized it was gonna take him most of the day to get that last little notch on his energy – and when he woke, it was with a want to plant something! Well, that was handy – sent him out to the greenhouse to plant all his new berries and herbs and whatnot and water it all. :) Also apply some mite treatment to his bees, who were a little irritated.

B) Smiler came SO CLOSE to finishing their party bot – but as I expected, the dreaded zappy-zap stopped them in their tracks before the finish line. Meeh. I had them go tend to the chickens (collecting eggs, spreading feed, cleaning the coop) while Alice (fresh off two paintings, neither a masterpiece) got to go to the trash piles around the wind farm and sort through them for parts before cleaning them up. I gave all the trash piles to Smiler to recycle (as they were already by the recycler), gave all the fertilizers to Victor for later use on his oversized crops (still not yet planted, but we’re getting there), then had Alice do some weeding in the greenhouse as Victor used the toilet before coming back out to talk to some of his plants. Alice then headed into the house to take a shower, while Smiler ran into the greenhouse to get a drink from Victor, then give him a massage in return, aww.

C) Somehow, this took us to early afternoon – I swear, sometimes the time just FLIES in this game! Or maybe I’m a little too used to it being paused from building from the last couple of times I played. XD Victor and Alice both got some leftovers (after Alice cleared out all the spoiled food) and flirted a little over the late lunch, while Smiler went upstairs to check on video trends. Beauty was in, so I had them record a beauty tips video. Gotta know how they maintain their sweet style! XD Victor cleared up all the plates while Alice went back to painting, then drunk a couple of cups of coffee to keep his energy up. . .

D) Uh-oh, but who’s this at the door? It’s Brian the NAP inspector! Victor let him in, and the dude proceeded to take some very thorough notes regarding the recycler outside. XD Fortunately those notes resulted in him declaring the family in compliance with the NAPs and saying they’d get a reduction on future bills, hooray. :) Victor left him to it, did some sit-ups, then went into the study to flirt some more with Alice. Smiler, having finished their video, came downstairs with a mind to flirt with HIM, so I had them trade off flirts – Alice and Victor sharing a big amorous hug, Smiler and Victor getting a cuddle from behind, Alice and Victor doing some sweet whispers. :) Hoping I can get some good shots I can use for a Valicertine next year! :) For some reason, though, all this flirting and cuddling triggered Victor to get the “People Person” lifestyle! Okay, I know he has more friends than “Close-Knit” allows, but he ain’t THAT social, game. I promptly invested in some “Lifestyle-Go-Poof” potion and got rid of that right sharpish.

E) And then, once Brian the NAP inspector headed off, it was time to get out and about! Specifically, to Pupperstone Park in Brindleton Bay, because I decided that I wanted to see if I could get the gang to befriend some strays to adopt instead of just adopting through normal means. There weren’t any animals around when they first arrived, so I had Victor practice his Practical magic by the fountain, while Smiler went finishing and Alice turned into her werewolf form to do a bit of scavenging and howling. All their endeavors were fruitful, happily – Alice found a nice amethyst crystal, Smiler caught a plumbing upgrade part and some catnip, and Victor learned the Floralorial spell for helping keep plants healthy! Given the size of his greenhouse, that’ll be useful.

F) And then, just as Victor learned the spell, I spotted a couple of cats beside him! One was Mayor Whiskers, who I decided to leave be because Brindleton Bay obviously needs its Mayor, but the other was a random stray named Kelly! I had Alice go back to normal form and cautiously greet her as I sent Smiler to look for frogs around the world (got a spotted leaf frog and a dirt frog) and Victor to have a nice jog (since he was still energized from all the coffee he drunk) –

Only to see a werewolf coming up fast behind her. To my absolute shock, it was none other than GREG, he of the original Mooncasters and scourge of Moonwood Mill, apparently deciding to just have a run through Brindleton Bay. O.o He fortunately didn’t do anything to Alice or the cat she was trying to befriend, but it was still a weird moment! Game, your choices for walkabouts in neighborhoods is bizarre!

G) ANYWAY, Alice successfully became acquaintances with the cat, Kelly – I think it’s a Manx cat because it only has a stub for a tail. Alice gave Kelly a treat, then had it chase a laser pointer and got to know it a little better – Kelly is a Free Spirit and Mischievous, apparently. Nothing Alice hasn’t handled with Cheshire! XD While she was busy doing that, Smiler got some metal from a collectibles rock (Alecon, I think?), then went and filled the food bowl in Pupperstone Park before going over to where a group had gathered to watch some people play chess and gave them all a Focused boost. This prompted one of them to get up and say hell – Brent Hecking, Brant’s husband! Smiler turned on the charm and made instant good friends, and chatted with Brent until they had to head out for their fishing job.

H) Meanwhile, Victor finished his jog and did some stargazing, and while Alice kept working on Kelly the cat, I started looking for a stray dog for him to befriend. Eventually found Shadow, who looks like a tall basset hound, running back and forth on the bridge – I had Victor fly over and say hello. It was a bit of a rough first greeting, as Shadow was all stinky from being sprayed by a skunk AND had to go potty, but fortunately Victor’s Scruberoo spell quickly took care of the poop. :p I had him get to know Shadow a bit, and then play with the dog upon learning they were Playful! :) They seemed to get along very nicely, as did Alice with Kelly the cat, so I think these two are the strays I’m gonna try and adopt. Just gonna be tricky, as you can only adopt them when they’re listed as “strays,” and they don’t have that marker when you invite them over to improve your relationship. . .

I) However, I couldn’t stay out in Brindleton Bay forever, mostly because poor Victor was gonna drop. I sent him and Alice home around midnight, with Alice going to play chess while Victor dragged himself to bed. Smiler came home (having NOT cleared their “Fear of a Dead-End Job” despite me having them regain their passion before going to work – perhaps because of the lot change before they came home?), and I sent them upstairs to edit their video and add effects while Alice did a bit more painting before having a wolf nap. *nods* Not a bad way to end the day!

So yeah – no official pets, but if I can keep working on Kelly and Shadow (and find them as wandering strays again), hopefully it won’t be too long before the trio has a cat and a dog. :) Next time, though – well, it’s Alice next work day, so keep your fingers crossed she manages a promotion!

Writing: Got another page on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland” sorted after the Simming above, just like I’d hoped – Alice has heard Boris’s offer of $1,000 to kill Venus (sourced through an ancient YouTube video – top quality was 240p!), and said that she’ll do it. Of course, her actual intention is to go back to the club, tell Venus, and ask if she knows a good way to fake her death, saying she’ll split the cash with her once she gets it. XD I just like the idea of Alice managing to play Boris like this – it’s what the asshole deserves.

YouTube: Got everything I wanted to get watched today watched! :D So I’m caught up on Subs and down to one thing in the Watch Later for tomorrow, w00. :) Feeling ahead of the game!

A) Started with some pre-dinner OX lists (yes, those are still coming out along with OXmas) –

I. “7 Times You Got Mocked for Trying, So Never Try Again: Commenter Edition” – On OXtra, the commenters chime in with games that mocked you for trying something – oftentimes trying to complete the damn game. Manage to 100% The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and all its challenges? You get a special achievement begging you to stop. Decide to try and lick your way past the candy cane bars into Santa’s workshop in the How The Saints Saved Christmas DLC for Saints Row IV? Not only does it take AGES of button mashing (and weird licking noises), the game mocks you the entire time in various pop-ups. . .and the doors are locked normally once you get through, making the entire exercise pointless. Get through the final boss fight of notoriously hard 1985 side-scroller Ghosts N Goblins? The game informs you that everything was just an illusion by Satan AND YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE WHOLE THING AGAIN ON A HIGHER DIFFICULTY. Sheesh – it’s like they don’t WANT players to enjoy their games!

II. “7 Worst Ice Levels That Can Slide Right Into the Bin” – On OXBox, Andy, Jane, and Mike take us through the worst ice levels in video games, because ice and snow suck and they should say it. From Donkey Kong Country’s “Gorilla Glacier” level (featuring super-slidey terrain and occasional snowstorms obscuring your vision), to Ecco The Dolphin’s Arctic levels (Ice Water, Hard Water, and Cold Water, featuring killer ice cubes, angry sharks, and terrifying crab-spider things), to Red Dead Redemption II’s opening Colter chapter (forcing you to slog through snow at a snail’s pace and worry about the possibility of starvation while hiding out with your gang after a botched robbery), these snow levels will make you go “snow way.” . . .I will show myself out now.

B) Then, after supper, it was time for the daily dose of Oxmas – “XMAS CHALLENGE DAY 8! Trombone Champ Holiday Toot Off Challenge | Tournament of Champions 2022!” Today it was Mike versus Ellen in Trombone Champ, a rhythm game for – you guessed it – the trombone that came out this year. Judging from what I saw of the control scheme, it is surprisingly hard. XD Anyway, the two were each tasked with taking on the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” level, as it was the most seasonally appropriate, and whoever had the highest score won. Hopes were high for Ellen, who actually played trombone for a year and a half (and then switched to the trumpet), but while she scored a respectable 353,530 in the game, Mike managed to hit just a FEW more combos and come out with the Christmas point with a score of 361,110. Both of these amounted to “C” grades in the game btw, which, given what their performances SOUNDED like coming out of the cute cartoony trombone player on the screen, is very generous of it. XD

C) Then it was over to the Subs to catch up on yesterday’s Call Me Kevin – “I pirated Minecraft!” As in, he found a mod pack that allows you to become a pirate, yar har har. He even switched the language to be pirate speak, which kind of backfired on him when he quickly realized he was no longer sure what anything was. XD He started out by robbing the local villagers in his spawn (as usual) and making himself a fancy rowboat to set up a pirate base on a nearby island, then went around looting nearby islands, ships, and shipwrecks (using waste blocks to seal up enemies), before going on an adventure to a swampland to fight slimes for slimeballs and spiders for string so he could make himself a proper warship with sails and everything (yes, for some reason, to make a proper sail in this game you need slimeballs. Don’t ask me why). He decided to turn it into Noah’s Ark and used it to lure some sheep, cows, and chickens to his home so he could pen them up – though two particularly enthusiastic chickens and one enthusiastic pig were allowed to stay on the boat as his crew. They went around for a while, raiding the nearby islands for more treasure and taking on more small boats (looking for the elusive Illager Silver so Kevin could actually make himself a proper pirate pistol), then Kevin developed a taste for adventure and took the ship down to an uncharted corner of the world, leaving the crew on the other side of a land bridge as he took the rowboat to continue on alone. And it was on the other side of that bridge that he found the ship of Captain Stachu, an actual boss! It was a very tough fight, and Kevin died a few times, but through sheer bloody-minded perseverance (and also the clever use of TNT and waste blocks to seal up his enemies with explosions), he was able to raid the ship of all its numerous and wonderful treasures, steal a few guns, take out the captain, and imprison the remaining crew and their spawner in a homemade brig! :D And so Kevin ended the episode proud atop his new pirate ship home, with loot beyond his wildest dreams – nah, I’m just kidding, he summoned in the special Kraken enemy and got himself killed. XD But it was a fun little adventure – Minecraft has some pretty cool mods, I gotta say! I look forward to his next adventure in the world of blocks. :)

D) And finally we had today’s GrayStillPlays – “I found 100 ways to end a life,” aka Gray plays Lucky Tower! This is a very silly game about an adventurer trying to escape a tower, via the method of finding which of three doors (or trapdoors) is the right one to go down a level without being murdered. While there’s some puzzle-solving elements (for example, discovering one door has a lever behind it that, when whacked with your sword, will move a section of the floor over to behind a different door so you can walk into that room), a bit of combat, and a “merchant” that you can use to customize your gear (who later turns into a stalking enemy after your flesh), it’s primarily one of those games where you rely on random chance to figure out which is the right path. Meaning the REAL pleasure is seeing just how many strange and silly deaths you can wrack up. Also the damn thing is voice-acted, and the hero guy has the GOOFIEST death scream. XD Gray found a lot of pleasure in seeing the hero squished in death traps; eaten by the local Cerebus dog; smashed over the head by a troll while he was admiring the guy’s décor; get eaten whole by a crying monster princess he wanted to cheer up; get turned into a broom by a wizard; get turned into a SNAIL by a wizard (which in fact proved to be the CORRECT choice for that level, as he had to slip through a secret mousehole door and ride a log through the sewers, dodging hungry fish, to get to the next level); rescue a cute little fox from the wizard (he took much less pleasure in seeing the fox get eaten by the merchant); get killed by some angry librarians throwing books at him while he tried to kill them with the petrified corpse of a mouse; and finally escape and make it to the local tavern, where he accidentally entered the ladies room and then got teleported naked back to the top of the tower – only he was OUTSIDE it, so he fell to his death. XD Very weird little game, but one of those things that is perfect for Gray. XD

And I'm currently working on answering Moose's last set of messages. Have recovered nicely from the period brain that was plaguing me yesterday, that's for sure! :) Though I think having a night dedicated to just hanging out on TV Tropes did help with that. Cleared the head, you know.

And now, I'm doing some social stuff and keeping an eye on tumblr, so I should be off. Tomorrow, I hope to watch the latest AT4W, OXmas, Kevin, Gray, and Jon; play Fallout 4 and at least get Victor and Nick to Graygarden; clean up the tumblr posts I'll need for this week's updates; and get in a workout. Oh, and find a bit of time to wrap some presents. Only a week til Christmas, after all. :) Night all!
