Slowly Getting Colder Thursday

crossover_chickThough fortunately we didn't have any major snow or ice events around here, just cold weather and freezing drizzle. Tomorrow is supposed to get REALLY chilly, though, so -- gotta watch out for the black ice! Hopefully it won't be too bad. . .anyway, here's how my day went --
Work – Welp, our credit card processor had some technical problems this morning – enough that we couldn’t even get into the main site. Which is a bit of a problem when you have reports to run and a credit card pledge to take! Fortunately it came back up this afternoon, and the pledge did go through, but it was looking a little dicey there. Good thing it was a pretty quiet day on the phones! And then, to end the day, I tried to make some copies and had to fight the damn machine jamming on me. *sigh* Not exactly fun, but could have worse, I suppose.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike for a night, and back to James Turner’s High School Years Rags To Riches Generational Epic! We had Episode 20 tonight, which featured the following:
A) Reginald dropping in repeatedly on Sidney and Ava in their new home after some viewers spotted in the last episode that Ava was pregnant! Reginald congratulated her and managed over the course of a few visits to improve their relationship a bit, and James turned their spare bedroom into a proper nursery for their little one Hilary, who turned up shortly before the episode ended. Reginald got his dad on a bit while the parents took the chance to head to bed. XD Sidney and Ava also got engaged, with Sidney actually phoning up Reginald to tell him the news and ask his advice – James called him “toxic” for this and claimed he was clearly obsessed with his ex. XD James, REGINALD is the one who keeps visiting them randomly. . .
B) Kevin attempting desperately to find someone to mentor in Fitness for his job on New Year’s Eve, because he was actually a LOWER Fitness level than Reginald at the time. James first tried the Del Sol Valley gym (the one that Hazel gave a dance studio back in the Dream Home Decorator LP), but that one was too full of celebrities and people trying to celebrate New Year’s (and Sidney), so he eventually ended up at the gym in Oasis Springs, where he managed to mentor a few people before slouching off to work, exhausted. I’m not surprised James never tried to fulfill his work task again.
C) Reginald leaning into his magic and repeatedly dueling his mom Column for new spells – he won the first one and got Despairio, but Column kicked his ass in all the others, leading to him picking up a the Curse of Unwarranted Hostility, meaning everyone wanted to beat Reginald up. James felt that Column should save her son and had her gather the ingredients to make the Curse-Cleansing potion and brew one up (noting in the process that he HAD to finally finish her house), then come over and give it to her kid. Isn’t that nice?
D) Reginald trying and utterly failing to attend the Starlight Accolades to see if he won an award for his recent book – mostly because he got there super-late due to James switching to Column to make the potion. And then someone insisted on fighting him outside the front doors because of his curse (he didn’t actually TAKE the potion until he got there). And then it took him ages to get up to the roof to actually attend the ceremony. And then it took the HOST ages to get up there to DO the ceremony. And then the paparazzi kept getting in the way, aaaand long story short one award was given out and it wasn’t Reginald’s. Dang. Next time, buddy!
E) And the biggest event – Reginald and Kevin getting engaged! :D After Sidney called up about him and Ava, James decided Reginald and Kevin needed to make it official too, and sent them out on a pseudo-date at the pier (which went reasonably well) before sending them up to the teetering rock so Reginald could propose. :) Kevin accepted, then slouched off to work exhausted again. XD Most of the rest of the episode was spent with the boys exercising like crazy in their spare time, as James wants them both to be ripped himbos for the wedding. XD Kevin’s already there (and has even completed the Bodybuilder aspiration), while Reginald has got the muscle but hasn’t yet lost the weight. We’ll see what happens with that and how the wedding goes next time I return to this LP!
2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has found the keycard to the Luckee Star Motel (room 6, as per the wiki), thus giving her an idea of where Muddy may have gone after the vicious murder of his friend. However, she has no idea where it is, and WE know that she’s not going to Hollywood for a few nights yet, so she’s put that on the back burner for now and headed to the Last Round to catch up Jack before she head into the sewers. Should get her on the path to beating the hell out of Brother Kanker soon!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – even got in a couple of bonus videos today, w000 –
A) Started before my workout with “The Sims 4 Growing Together: Official Gameplay Trailer!” Yes, the second trailer for the upcoming expansion pack is out, showing off stuff like Milestones (such as first dates, getting married, and having kids), Social Compatibility (sharing likes and dislikes tends to make for good compatibility, while the opposite makes for bad compatibility), family dynamics (a few different kinds, which can be set manually or evolve as time goes on), all through the medium of the Michaelsons (the family being used to help promote the pack) getting an unexpected visit from the wife Celeste’s dad now that they’ve got a new baby. It was pretty cute, and provided a pretty good overview of some of the new gameplay features. Of course, the thing to REALLY look forward to is the livestream next week – THAT’S when we should see how this all works in-game. (Because, as some are noting, this “Gameplay Trailer” didn’t have a lot of actual GAMEPLAY. . .)
B) Then, in keeping with the Sims theme of the day, I grabbed the latest from onlyabidoang out of my Watch Later this evening after writing – “The Sims 4: ALL NEW CONTENTS on the First Year of Sims Delivery Express!” Abi decided to go through all the various SDX drops we got since the service started in December of 2021. It was very interesting, if only because it highlighted how these little game updates STARTED by giving us things like cool new décor items, more hairstyles, and new foods and clothing from other cultures, and ENDED by giving us new swatches on existing clothing items and new tattoos promoting other EA brands. In the middle we got a lot of scenarios and the new Goth family (Abi agrees with me that Mortimer, Bella, and Cassandra look all right, but Alexander got the short end of the stick with the makeover). Now, I will admit, I like some of the new décor items (the aprons we got with an early holiday-themed drop are very nice for kitchens), but I don’t play scenarios (the only one I’m TRULY interested in is “Makin’ Money” as a potential quick-start to a Rags To Riches) and I wouldn’t know where to find half of these CAS swatches (if I would even WANT my Sims to wear things advertising other EA games), so. . .yeah. Feel like SDX is wasted on me in particular!
C) Then it was over to the Subs for the latest from Josh Way – “SKETCHY: Abby Mallard from Chicken Little!” Yes, back to old Duckember videos, with Josh doing the Ugly Duckling character from Disney’s early CGI effort. She looks kinda terrifyingly hideous, but then again, kind of the point if she’s the Ugly Duckling, right? (Never mind the point was that the “duckling” was in fact a cygnet, aka a SWAN. . .) Josh talked about how he at least likes her design for being different from the Classic Disney Duck, and accidentally showed us his home screen at one point, whoops. XD Fun stuff!
D) And then, finally, being Thursday, the GrayStillPlays of the day was a minisode – “5 Dares in GTA 5 in 60 Seconds #shorts!” More of Gray doing ridiculous dares in GTA V, specifically skydiving into a mountain lion (took two attempts, but he elbow-dropped the kitty on the second go); jumping a bike into the military base and blowing up a jet with C4 as it takes off (he launched it, and while the C4 ended up bouncing off the jet, it DID cause enough damage to send it spiraling into the runway); flying a jet into a commercial plane and surviving (Gray lightly bonked them together while getting out with his parachute; again, though, this was enough to send the plane spiraling into the ocean); turning into a seagull and pooping on a biker (easy in theory, but hard in getting the right angle to show that he had on-camera – managed it, though); and parachuting and landing on top of a light post (much like the first one, took two attempts, but with the help of his gun’s aim, he did it)! Ah, Gray, your comment section and their strange dares. . .
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – six ask replies for Valice Multiverse! A lot, but I got through them all pretty quickly. :)
*nods* Not bad, not bad. And now it is time to turn in, as I have one last day to get through for work before my cleaning-and-taxes weekend. Night all!
