Yes, it was Alice's birthday again today, and I feel like I celebrated pretty well -- wore my favorite "Drink Me" bottle necklace (though I swear the water level in it has gone down!), wore my AMA shirt while working out (and watched some Alice videos while working out, see below), and took my yearly picture of the toys enjoying Alice's birthday, with a leftover carrot cake cupcake my Mom made earlier, which I then ate. XD And while it hasn't been a perfect day (especially weatherwise -- cold and cloudy most of the day!), it hasn't been too bad either --

Work – Kinda boring morning with a busier afternoon – mostly roster maintenance stuff before lunch, and then two batches of big gifts to put on after lunch. Oh, and my coworkers talking about political stuff most of the day. *heavy sigh* So that was – fun. At least tomorrow’s Friday, and all the stuff put on today will keep me busy with the GL for most of the morning.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, with me getting through the following –

A) The end of Oxventure: Legacy of Dragons – “Ballot Time!” Having realized “you know, we could ask Egbert how he planned to bust the dragon out,” the Oxventurers did just that. Egbert explained that it had involved experimental explosives, and that it had gone badly – but he’s pretty sure he’s perfected the recipe now! Corazon had to ask “what, when we weren’t around?” XD Still, the guild was willing to let him blow the doors off – Shattershield and the others were less willing, but then the alarm for incoming attackers was raised, and Shattershield realized they didn’t really have a choice. The rest of the council left to help with battle preparations (Dob breathing a sigh of relief once Hammerfist was away), and Egbert packed in his explosives, with Johnny having him roll a D20. He got a six, which seemed bad at first –

And then Johnny clarified “No, that’s how much you OVERDO it – low is good! It means you’ve learned!” XD But yes, Egbert got his explosives into the cracks and such just right, set a nice long fuse, and refused Merilwen’s offer of Create Flame in favor of just kissing it with his lips and getting everyone to stand back (Corazon already halfway up the stairs on the other side XD). There was a silence as the little spark traveled up the fuse and to the bombs –

Then BOOOOM! Dex saving throws, please! Dob, Corazon, and Egbert all managed to keep their feet, while Merilwen and Shattershield were thrown back – fortunately all that happened was they had the wind knocked out of them. And as the smoke cleared away from the wreckage of the doors, the gold dragon roared –

And flew out to freedom. :D It sounded like a beautiful sight, the way Johnny described it – the dragon swooping around, just enjoying the ability to actually fly again. Shattershield was a bit “what have I done” about it, but the Oxventurers were very proud of a job well done.

And then the Otherbert army made itself known, marching across the causeway to Mistmire! Specifically, it did so by firing a trebuchet shot of boiling oil at the dragon. Fortunately for the dragon, it JUST missed, passing between neck and wing thanks to a good bank. Unfortunately for the Otherberts, that got the dragon’s attention –

And cue the gang getting to have a long rest as the dragon, possibly motivated by Egbert’s kindness, possibly just in the mood to wreck some fools, OBLITERATED the Otherbert army. Most of the gang chose to take it easy while the dragon used things like Legendary Wing Attacks, Fire Breath, and Weakening Breath on its opponents – Corazon settled in for a nice long sleep, and Dob used the spyglass to check for Liliana’s presence (no dice – the Otherberts were being commanded by one of her generals, Insteadbert (since, you know, Dreadbert is now a Deadbert. :p)) – but Merilwen decided she wanted to join in the fun and commit more war crimes, and thus turned into a giant eagle to fly to a group of fleeing Otherberts and then pinned them in place with Wind Wall as essentially a shooting gallery for the dragon. XD Dob and Egbert were so close to congratulating each other from stopping her. . .

And so, Mistmire was saved from Liliana’s Otherbert army! . . .and is now a crumbling wreck because there’s no dragon power at ALL keeping the place warm and the lights on! Dob was all for letting nature reclaim it, but I suspect Le Dragon D’Or will have something to say about their citadel falling apart. XD But that is for next time, and next week, with “Ready Lair One!” Looking forward to it. :D

B) As stated, a couple of Alice-related videos, in honor of her birthday! Specifically, I rewatched LGR’s old review of Alice: Madness Returns (which he thoroughly enjoyed, especially the art direction – this is also the review that clued me into the fact that playing this game with a controller would be way easier than playing it with keyboard and mouse) and the original trailer for American McGee’s Alice (which is still one of my favorite game trailers, even if it is a touch “ow the edge” these days). Good stuff. :D

2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has left Strauss’s (commenting on how her trip to Grout’s tomorrow sounds like it’s gonna be “fun”), and has made it to The Last Round, where she’s found Damsel, Nines, and Skelter talking about how they have to find the ringleader of the plague cult, and soon. Good thing Alice has already offed him, right? XD Though she’s not gonna get much more than grudging thanks out of this lot. . .well, maybe I can have Nines offer her more fighting tips, since he will do that if you’re on good terms with him.

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – and yet again, managed to sneak in a bonus video (though a shorter one this time, as “Londerland Bloodlines” took a little bit to write) –

A) Started with a more recent OXBox list – “Street Fighter 6: 7 Wildest Things You Can Do in World Tour Mode!” Which featured Andy giving us plebs the details on some of the weirdest stuff you can do in that “design a fighter and travel the world fighting” mode (or at least the demo of it). Top of the list is create terrifying creatures in its character creator, since it allows you to warp proportions, give your character glowing skin, and do other horrible things to them. It’s great. XD You can also just fight random citizens in the streets (either by politely asking or just uppercutting them); using Spinning Bird Kick to basically fly between rooftops in Chinatown; give your mentors random magazines you found on the ground; and beat up a superhero. :D I’m not really a fighting game person, but it DOES all look fun, I must admit! XD

B) Then it was over to the Subs for today’s Josh Way – “SKETCHY: Aged Disney Characters!” Josh celebrating four of Disney’s more elderly characters from various eras – Georges from The Aristocats, Madam Mim from The Sword In The Stone, Mama Odie from The Princess And The Frog, and Grimsby from The Little Mermaid. Once again, Josh’s art skills were top-notch, and his ramblings about how much he loves the sketchy, Xeroxed-straight-onto-the-cells look of the 60s Disney era, and how he loves these character designs were amusing enough. :p

C) And finally, it was time for the GrayStillPlays Thursday Minisode – “Busting 5 Insane Myths in GTA 5 #shorts!” Myth One: You cannot skydive into this one “Hugh Hefner” cave over a pool and survive – false! You’ll still get beat up, but you CAN survive if you pull your chute just as you cross the threshold. Myth Two: A mountain lion will not attack you if you’re behind a wall of domestic cats – true! The mountain lion just paces up and down your protective layer of cats, completely baffled. XD Myth Three: Helicopter props will instantly pop a blimp – false! Gray’s tried this, and the props just glitch through the blimp, they don’t affect it at all. Myth Four: You can defeat a mountain lion by throwing snowballs at it – true! For some reason, they INSTANTLY knock the lion out and make it ragdoll. XD Myth Five: The RC tank can never defeat the real tank – false! It can’t defeat the real tank directly, but you can trick the tank into firing at the ground directly in front of it and blow itself up if you get the RC tank to jump over the real one at just the right moment. The usual five bits of useless information from our friend Gray! XD

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check, though again up against the wire – threw some recent thoughts on the “Valicer Of The Opera” stretch-time and I came up with back in March into the queue on Victor Luvs Alice (regarding why the Smiler of that world would wear a mask while playing Opera Ghost), and forewent any queuing on Valice Multiverse in favor of just straight-up answering an ask from Brynlee (Maddie wishing her mum a happy birthday – had to answer that on the day itself, right?). I am DEFINITELY making sure I can get my queuing on at least Victor Luvs Alice done earlier next week!

Whew! Yeah, taking a break next week with just some stuff I've reblogged from other people, I think. . .and now I have to hurry off to bed. One more day to go! Night all!
