Made It Through To Friday!
May. 5th, 2023 11:50 pmWhich has been pretty nice, all things considered -- the weather has improved, and my day was pretty solid --
Work – Quieter, more boring day – the GL kept me busy for a good portion of the morning, yes, but after that it was largely just roster maintenance and answering a few phone calls. And even the roster maintenance is actually starting to run out – I hit where one of my coworkers left off in the spreadsheet going down, and I’m coming up fast on where my OTHER coworker left off in the spreadsheet going up, so. . . Still, as I have stated many times before, I will take a somewhat-boring day over a super-stressful one! And it is the weekend now, which helps too. :)
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – a final night on the bike this week, and a final night with Smiler Takeover videos this week! I was searching “the smiler alton towers” on YouTube, wondering which vlog I wanted to risk (would it be someone who was totally into the event, like Sappy, or someone who wasn’t, like Theme Park Worldwide and Lift Hills and Thrills), when I thought, “actually, hang on – I know from my poking around on tumblr that this one guy, CablesTwisted, recently uploaded a video on his experience with the Fear Test show. Let me go see if I can search his YouTube channel and HOLY HELL HE JUST UPLOADED A WHOLE BUNCH OF CLIPS FROM THE TAKEOVER.”
So yes, guess whose channel I just binge-watched while on the bike today. XD Most of the videos were pretty short – just quick clips of the actors being silly in-between shows (Grin-Grin getting up on the “Celebration” stage, Agent Joytide chasing Grin-Grin and telling him he was naughty before losing him behind the chair on the stage and skipping off, Dr. Gladwill having to wrangle a spider that was crawling around on the “Fear Test” stage, Dr. Gladwill forcing an Advocate to do push-ups for unknown reasons), but we had a full video on the Fear Test with CablesTwisted himself in the chair (and as I turned out, I was wrong – them having two “Lindas from Hull” in the first vlogs I watched wasn’t the Fear Test using stooges, it’s them just calling all of the volunteers “Linda from Hull” XD), and a full video of the “Celebration of Happiness” (this one featuring a Felix E. Lated in a blond wig with Elton-John-esque sunglasses). I also rewatched his very amusing “Jelly Lore” video (basically, he and his friends were horrified and amused to find a potential first glimpse of the Ministry of Joy in an ancient advert for Alton Towers about how trying to tackle all their coasters might turn you into a jelly), and half of his video on the AR scanner points in the original The Smiler game (abandonware he downloaded from a sketchy site, so he’s not sharing where he got it, just how the scanner worked – it’s fun stuff, and I am DEFINITELY putting the Smiler butterflies that showed up when he “unlocked” the double butterfly inversions in my Smiler’s Otherland). :D It was a very pleasant workout, and a great way to send off the Takeover, at least when it comes to watching it during my workouts. :D
2. Write Squid’s birthday fic: Check – ended up doing this BEFORE my workout, as I actually had a bit of time to work with for a change (traffic was decent and we didn’t play beanbags as Mom was too cold). Squid actually requested “Romero teaching Melody (their OC vampire kid) how to shoot” a little while back, so I already had a prompt to work with. Banged out Romero warning Melody that he was not going to tolerate shenanigans (because guns are dangerous and HE’S not gonna be the one to tell Melody’s adopted mother Arianna that they got hurt fucking around) and giving them some basic safety tips. Needs a little work (specifically, I think I need to flip the order that events happen in), but it’ll do for a first draft!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check plus – as has been the case all this week, I got in a bonus video too –
A) First up, in case you wanted to feel very sad today, we had the OXBox list “7 Most Tragic Zombies We Felt Bad For Killing: Commenter Edition!” Andy and Luke took us through the commenter suggestions for more tragic zombies that made us feel awful, and oooh boy, were there some bad ones, with the two saddest being a little kid you find in a heavily fortified house in the original Telltale The Walking Dead season, who died of dehydration and starvation in the attic and ended up a zombie so emaciated he couldn’t even walk (and whom you have to put down, or possibly have your friend Kenny – who already lost his son to zombification – put down), and Myla, a little mining bug friend you can meet in Hollow Knight who starts off singing a nice song to herself (well, I say nice, it’s about burying people) and ends up infected with the Ancient Sickness and attacking you with her pickaxe, forcing you to kill her. D: Depressing list is depressing, even with Andy and Luke’s jokes! Though I guess the Doom Eternal entry, where you use a neural link to control a Revenant drone to get your Super Shotgun back, and then blast it in the face when it hands it to you, was kind of amusing. :p
B) And second up, we had GrayStillPlays and “When you click your way to Lightspeed in Roblox,” aka Gray plays Race Clicker in – well, Roblox! This is a game where you have to click at the beginning of each race in order to up your top speed so you can run (or drive, one of the earliest upgrades gives you a car) various rainbow roads in various worlds, earn wins, and then spend those wins like money to earn upgrades like pets, vehicles, and auto-clickers. And if you’re willing to spend the cashola, the numbers get VERY ridiculous, VERY quickly. With the help of auto-clickers, various acceleration boosts, and a number of angry robot egg pets with traits that made the clickers go even FASTER, Gray got to the point where he was lapping himself, exploding the rainbow sound barrier, and getting billions of wins in SECONDS, which he then proceeded to spend on “rebirths” to continue to improve his acceleration and top speed so he could move through all the various worlds, getting bigger and bigger multipliers, in his search for first place. (Not that he ever SAW any of those worlds, as he was basically glitching his way through every race track at that point. . .) And he finally achieved his goals in the radioactive pools of the nuclear world, where his various “rebirths” and robot eggs and credit-card-busting bonuses got him his beloved first place and made him the fastest man in the Roblox world, with a top speed of over 1.55 million mph. XD As I put it in my comment, really the only way to sum up this video is NYOOOM. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – I’ve got a reblog of my original post showcasing the Smiler Shop TV video in my queue for Victor Luvs Alice (I WANT to post one of the CablesTwisted videos I watched, but I feel a little weird about that since I know he’s on tumblr and I feel like HE should get first dibs on posting his own stuff?), and an Alice-birthday-themed ask reply in the queue for Valice Multiverse. Simple but satisfying!
And with that, I'm off to finish answering Moose's messages (sorry it took me so long again!) and prepare for Saturday. Cleaning this weekend, bleh. . .but it's supposed to be nice and warm and stuff, so that'll make things better! Plans include watching the latest OXBox RE4make video along with Gray; getting in some Sims 4 quality time; and writing a certain Valicer scene that's been playing in my head a lot lately for my own enjoyment. ^^; Night all!
