Rapidly Cooling Wednesday
May. 17th, 2023 11:55 pmIt didn't get above 65 F today -- and it actually felt colder much of the day thanks to high winds. And we're getting an overnight cold snap that means we might be waking up to a frost! Mom had to truck all of her plants inside. Couple that with it not getting very warm tomorrow either, and -- yeah, mini-golf is not happening tomorrow, unless there is a MASSIVE change in circumstances. I'll be trying not to go to bed too late just in case, but I suspect I'll be spending the day at home catching up on computer things (Mom's going to Kohl's to look for clothes -- and get me a new pair of sunglasses, since she accidentally broke the pair I keep in the car).
So yeah, weather wasn't exactly great, but how did the rest of my Wednesday go?
Work – All right enough day at work – it was very quiet, so I spent most of my day doing a little quality-control checking on posted gifts and working through some obituaries (and going down little rabbit holes to take care of other duplicates and deceased people I found along the way). And we had our little luncheon for the boss to congratulate him on his upcoming wedding – my sandwich was pretty good, and we all got to have cake, so that was nice. :) Day kind of dragged on in the afternoon, I admit, but I’ve had much worse days before a day off! Not even the traffic was that bad, which I appreciate.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, finishing off Oxventure’s One-Shot Wonder “Dread!” Having decided that there was no way she was going to find enough tinder to make a giant fire ring (either for protection purposes or for werewolf-trapping purposes), Madison set out to make a smaller fire in the middle as a lure for the werewolf instead. Brad actually helped gather tinder, and with a pull each, they successfully found enough for a small bonfire. With that constructed, and a plan tentatively in place to light it later that night and see how they could use it against the werewolf, Madison and Brad both decided to try and get some sleep while the sun was still in the sky and they were relatively safe. Luke declared this required another pull from each of them, but if they succeeded, he’d subtract one pull from subsequent actions to represent them actually having gotten some rest. Madison went first, but got nervous about how shaky the tower was getting and backed out, declaring that she wouldn’t sleep. Brad then went, and somehow made taking a block out look damn easy, allowing him to pass out without issue from exhaustion. Madison decided to try again after that –
BANG! Down went the tower! Poor Ellen flopped onto the floor in horror and shame. XD Luke decided that what happened with her was she was too stressed to sleep at first, and then too distracted by Brad’s snoring. So she went closer to the treeline of the clearing to try and get some shut-eye. . .and ended up sleeping until nightfall, waking up to find the werewolf already over her. Ellen was thus banished from the table, and the Jenga tower rebuilt, with Mike having to remove SIX pieces to start to represent the fact that he was on his own and in a bad way. With that done, Luke set the scene, which was Brad waking up to the sound of poor Madison being eaten by the werewolf, and locking eyes with it before it started toward him at a horrible awkward run. The hatchet was lost, as that was Madison’s chosen weapon –
But Brad DID have the flare gun. Three successful pulls allowed him to dry it out so it would have a better chance of working. . .and then four successful pulls allowed him to steel his nerves, point the flare gun directly at the werewolf’s face as it stood up to loom over him (incidentally, it was revealed here that the werewolf was in fact the other guide on the “digital detox,” Bennington, so I suspect the “climbing team” he was leading didn’t last long!) –
And fire it straight into his mouth! Benningwolf was very startled and upset by this, and ended up flailing around and spinning in circles, with flare gun smoke training from his jaw. And Brad, seeing an opportunity, realizing Madison had been right about it being werewolves, and remembering that he was wearing Eric’s silver pendant (and possibly even remembering that the wounds on Eric’s neck weren’t as deep as the others), went straight in with his throwing arm to jam said silver pendant down the werewolf’s gullet. That was another four pulls, with Luke saying that he only had to do three if Brad was okay with the arm being injured. Brad was determined to keep his NFL chances alive, though, and did all four pulls –
And SUCCEEDED! :D Brad successfully got the silver pendant straight into Benningwolf’s mouth, where it proceeded to burn through the roof of his mouth, up into his skull, and through his brain. Ew. *shudder* But he was very much dead, and Brad proudly returned to civilization as the new leader of the wolf pack that Benningwolf had been bossing around. XD Luke was extremely amused that, on their very nerdy channel, it was the jock who survived and won the day. Fun times, even if it got REALLY tense! I wouldn’t mind them doing another one-shot with this game for another Hallowstream – there’s more than one scenario to play, after all!
With “Dread” now done, I had to fill the last few minutes of my workout, so after a bit of poking around, it was back to Petey Plays It for another video – “15 Standout Lots To Improve Your Gameplay In The Sims 4!” Basically all his favorite lots in the game, across multiple DLCs. From the very standard Daisy Hovel in Willow Creek (which is right next to the secret entrance to the Sylvan Glade and very close to the community garden), to the Von-Windenburg Estate in Windenburg (set on the remains of a crumbling castle on the Crumbling Isle, meaning it has awesome clifftop views of the water, with a secret entrance to the Bluffs nearby), to Key Point in Sulani (a beautiful island lot that is an Oceanic Paradise and is near to the waterfall, the explorable cave, and the volcano – I personally think this is actually a perfect RENTAL lot for vacations, because who doesn’t want their own private island for a few days?), to New Moon Shack in Moonwood Mill (close to ALL the action with the Howling Point, the local lake, Greg, and the Moonwood Collective’s hang-out spot nearby), Petey was only too happy to point out all the best lots to try living in, or at least visiting. :) Good to know, even if I don’t know if I’ll ever take advantage of that information. :p
2. Continue writing “The Joker And The Queen”: Check – wrote another linking segment with Kelman and his staff today, with them observing both the results of Nemesis’s breach (there’s a whole lot of savaged Phalanx corpses about) and the result of Thirteen taking out Bravo Team (they’re basically tangled up completely helpless in a bunch of oak roots – Wickerman was impressed despite himself). Kelman is beside himself, but still trying his best to take down the escaping Coaster Crew, which is why he’s getting Agent Joytide to lead Delta Team against them. And while Joytide already has a plan in mind to stop herself getting super-speed-punched by Rita. . .well, it’s OBLIVION’S segment next. >:D
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check (despite me getting caught up in reading “Dread” sample scenarios for a good chunk of the evening), with GrayStillPlays and “Testing Cars vs Impossible Loops in GTA 5!” From Dylan Happy Wheels Torture Boards to Alex GTA V Torture Boards – this time with Gray being required to beat seven particularly evil loops (both in terms of difficulty and in terms of “nearly breaking Alex’s game because of all the props he used to make them”). In order, we had the Abstract Loop (a concrete loop where you had to follow the curve up from right to left, avoiding the invisible wall dividing the circle in half); the Wet Spider-Man Loop (a red-and-blue loop BELOW the main track that Gray had to launch himself into, driving through the water and then having to launch himself back out the other side to get back onto the main road – basically it went down instead of up and involved flipping); the Icy Loop (a corkscrew loop made of a lot of chunks of icy road – Gray spent a LOT of time fighting with this one); the Infinity Loop (a double loop in pink and purple that I presume looked like an infinity sign from the side. . .oh, and there was a pulsating teleporter at the end to catch the unwary and make them do the loop again); the Unfinished Gap Loops (a series of curved license plates gradually tilting to the right that Gray had to loop through by jumping all the gaps to land on the next plate); the Giant Loop (a big grassy knoll of a loop that abruptly transitioned into a wooden board loop going off to the side – that caught Gray very much by surprise); and finally the “Piggy Didn’t Make” Loop (an actually fairly easy loop made of cheeseburger patties lined with bacon). Gray struggled MIGHTILY to make it through all these without falling off, especially on the Icy Loop, and tried cars ranging from the monster truck loaded with beer to the bumper car to the snowy pick-up truck to – possibly a Hummer, I’m not sure. All I know is that it had a camo paint job. XD But in the end, the only cars that worked were some of the OG masters – not that I know their names, but one was pink, and one was pink-and-white, and they were both able to actually make it around the Icy Loop, so yay. XD Some really great Gray screaming here, and even some philosophy – “Life is pain, then adjustments” (said while falling off the Unfinished Gap Loops for the fiftieth time XD). Ahhh, good stuff...
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – reset the queue speed to one for the Thursday and Friday reblogs (VTMB Beckett fanart and a silly description of FO4 as a “walking simulator” respectively), and found a song for Song Saturday – P!nk’s “Trustfall,” a song that has recently hit the radio airwaves and which I already like quite a bit. :) Haven’t finished the post for it yet, but it’s started and in the queue, so we’re good there at least!
Not too shabby -- and I even got to have cookies for desert! They came with my lunch and so I saved them to take home. :D And now I'm gonna putz around on the web for a bit before hitting the sack. Goals for tomorrow include finishing up the Song Saturday post for the queue and seeing what other tumblr stuff I can get caught up on; trying to clear some videos out of my Watch Later (or just watching the extra-long latest Gray compilation. . .or should I do that with my workout? Hmmm); doing some writing, either "Londerland Bloodlines" or my comfort fic stuff; and playing Sims 4 and seeing how far I can get through Love Day. :) We'll see how many I actually get through! Night all!
So yeah, weather wasn't exactly great, but how did the rest of my Wednesday go?
