Slightly Earlier Thursday
Jul. 20th, 2023 11:40 pmYeah, look at that, not a total last-minute posting! Though I suppose it has been a bit of a quieter night...or, at the very least, I didn't watch something with my workout that required a long write-up. XD I should -- probably figure out how to summarize the workout videos better, honestly...anyway, here's how my day went --
Work – Yet another quiet day! Still no word on processing new gifts from Fiscal, so yeah – just more obituaries, more duplicate merging, more making sure all the scanned cards have ID numbers attached to them in the processor’s scanning system. It keeps me busy, but...the days ARE starting to drag a little here, and we’re all getting nervous about the backlog of checks. Hopefully we’ll get some good news about processing tomorrow! Though on the plus side, during the biweekly call with the credit card people, I was able to confirm something that had been on my plate for a while (re: a couple of transactions not showing up) had been fixed, so – that’s good!
Also on the plus side, we did get to play beanbags again today thanks to the break in the humidity! And I had a little better game today, while Mom and Dad had slightly worse ones (though that first game definitely turned into a shootout, we were so close) – final scores were me 2-W-W; Dad W-2-2; and Mom 3-3-3. We’ll see if she gets the chance to do better tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, going back to James Turner – but NOT back to his High School Years Rags To Riches Generational Epic. Or, rather, not to the main SERIES in that generational epic. For you see, I started Part 41 of the main LP, only to hear during the intro that he’d uploaded Part 1 of the side series focusing on Addison’s restaurant and the “Dine Out Reloaded” mod. So I decided to switch over to that instead, with “I am trying to play The Sims 4 Dine Out! (Part 1)!” This part covered the opening of Addison’s restaurant (currently just “Bigwallet Restaurant,” James indicated a better name might picked from the comments in future) – a lovely fancy brunchy cafe place – and some of the rules, such as Addison only being allowed to use their own business funds to pay for things like employee training and suchlike, and the prices going up and the menu including more and more difficult meals as the restaurant gained stars (though prices would drop and the menu shrink back down to the easy stuff if they lost stars). The ultimate goal was to have a five-star restaurant, though James admitted he thought the restaurant would fail eventually and intended to do a bit of a “storyline” regarding Addison (who’d grown up a bit spoiled) experiencing failure for the first time with their first major business venture. And things are indeed off to a bit of a rocky start – while Addison (who is serving in the “host” role for the place) has managed to secure a decently good cook in Agatha Crumplebottom (she’s struggling with cooking some of the more complicated orders at the speed Addison asked for, but she’s trying, darn it), and a great waiter in Kaito Saito (who wears a pirate hat when off-duty), their second waiter did so little on their second day open that James is already thinking of firing her. And, thanks to Addison paying for Agatha to receive some training to help with her cooking, they have ended the second day in the red, with -$57 in business funds, meaning the restaurant can’t even open until Addison’s made some money to clear that debt! They’re trying by selling the produce they’re growing in the vertical planters around the cafe straight off the vine, but so far they’ve only earned $20 from that, so...yeah. Not a great beginning! XD We’ll see how that turns out later on – it looks like from this point James alternated uploads of the main HSY series and the DOR one, so that’s what I’ll do while watching it. Should be fun! :)
2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has made it further into the labyrinth, by falling through an unlocked door into a deeper section of the maze, sneaking past another trapped ghoul and finding her way to the Needlessly Elaborate Mystical Sunlight Room. Where she is about to find the dusty remains of one Kent Alan Ryan, who got trapped in here and succumbed to the Mystical Sunlight. Alice’s night just keeps getting better, doesn’t it? XD At least I can guarantee she survives, though – hmmm. What other ways can she activate the lever she needs to hit in the mystical sunlight. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: We remain at half-check due to me not getting to today’s Josh Way, but I am caught up on GrayStillPlays again with yesterday’s offering – “Testing cars vs Tightropes in GTA 5!” Another Alex Torture Board, as per usual, this one all about tightroping, Gray’s least favorite activity because it requires both precision and patience, and he’s not great at either of those. The challenges for this episode were the Sloping, Decrepit Pipe Tightrope (a tightrope made of a giant concrete pipe that was just a LITTLE destructible, making going across it all the harder – oh, and Alex made sure to build it right in the middle of the wind farm, meaning a few windmills clipped through it); the “What Goes Around, Comes Around” Tightrope (a timed “figure eight” tightrope made up of two big canisters – Gray had to ride across the rims, going from right to left, in sixteen seconds; PLUS there was another windmill to dodge (and an invisible wall on the other side of the 8 to stop him going the other way)); the “How DARE You Tree” Tightrope (a tightrope made of two large trees jammed together at their tops, meaning the middle of the tightrope was a mess of leaves and branches that made it VERY hard for one to see where they were going); the “Now You See Me, Now You Don’t” Tightrope (another timed tightrope with INVISIBLE sections – most of them were the type that flickered in and out of existence periodically, but near the end they were just straight-up invisible all the time; Gray had to get across this tightrope – which had HILLS in it, I might add, hills of increasing height WITH INVISIBLE SECTIONS – in a minute and thirty seconds); and the Spinning Speedy Boss Tightrope Fun Thingy (a pair of SPINNING tightropes – specifically, they were both rotating arms on two separate bars; Gray had to drive down the pink one toward the center, following the rotation and avoiding the bumps trying to throw him off, then hit the teleporter and then drive OUT toward the end of the yellow one, still desperately following the rotation and fighting centrifugal force, to make the win). A lot of the cars just couldn’t make it past the first Pipe Tightrope, bottoming out or not having the speed to get past the windmills. The quad ATV made it to the figure eight, but didn’t have the speed to beat the sixteen second time limit; a super-colorful mini-car with pink wheels and an OH WELL plate made it all the way to the invisible tightropes, but didn’t have the speed to finish THAT; and the pink Viceroy Canis with the KING plate FINALLY, after many attempts, managed to get to the end. Whew! You could DEFINITELY hear Gray’s suffering in this one, and it was GLORIOUS. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – have decided to leave Victor Luvs Alice alone for the time being, so just had to pop two ask replies into the Valice Multiverse queue. Nothing too difficult!
*nods* Nice -- and tomorrow is half-day Friday, w00 :D Also post-patch-and-Horse Ranch-release Friday, so either it's gonna be building time in Sims 4 or I'm gonna do another game. Or catch up on YouTube videos a bit. :p We'll see what happens -- night all!
