crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)

Though no less humid -- it was fucking FOGGY this morning from all the water in the air, and just generally thick and unpleasant whenever you went outside. And the humidity is not supposed to abate, even as it gradually gets rainier. . .plus there's whatever nonsense Lee might unleash on us depending on where its track goes. . .basically the weather here lately is horrible and I hate it. I want cooler, drier days, damn it! It's September, get on that!

Anyway -- here's how my day went --

Work – Very quiet day – I did the GL and cleaned up a bunch of duplicate and deceased people and that was basically it. My coworkers fortunately were also not that chatty, and one actually had to leave early for something, so that was also nice. Still, glad it’s the weekend again! Hopefully next week won’t be too much of a slog. . .

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – final night on the bike this week, with the following –

A) First up, I finished off Oxventure Presents Blades In The Dark – “Magic, Ghosts, Danger And Death!” The big finale to the whole series! I’d left it with Edvard getting the key off the thoroughly-defeated Astor, and Eleanor asking everyone if they were still on board with shutting off the Barricade. Edvard was like “yup, totally;” Kasimir “smashy smashy;” Lilith “100%;” Zillah “Yes because seeing those trapped spirits in the turrets actually got me to think about how sucky it is to be a ghost in this world;” and Barnaby “I’m wealthy enough that I’m pretty sure I’ll be fine no matter what happens, so why not.” Oh, and Kelly was like “and I get to go into the gap!” while making eyes at Edvard, who studiously avoided them. XD With consensus reached, the gang went through the door, and found the massive machine in the cavern beyond, covering the far end with its whirling blades and whatnot, and an ancient control panel with a single lever on it. Everyone grabbed the lever, Eleanor dropped the title –

And with a single pull, the Barricade was shut off, with magic whooshing back out into the world (as shown by a thief, being chased by the Bluecoats, suddenly managing to turn invisible to elude them) and ghosts being pulled back into the gap (as shown by Rosie and Josie’s favorite spirit bottle suddenly ending up empty – though not by Coleridge the seagull moving on. That little fucker is staying with Kasimir, much to his annoyance XD). Kelly cheerfully made her way into the gap, pausing just long enough to glance almost flirtatiously back at Edvard to see if he was coming (nooo, but if she wants to send him a non-scary message, he’ll be fine with that), and the gang, content in a job well done, made their way back to the surface. . .

Where they discovered a problem, courtesy of Bugs – namely, the train they stole to get out here was in fact an oscillantronic device, and no longer works without the ghost energy trapped within. Edvard promptly declared that oscillantronic devices were a crutch and that they could invent something to get them home instead, and everyone rolled to help Edvard get his latest innovation off the ground. A trio of fives and a pair of threes led to the gang creating a horribly dangerous but reasonably functional cart powered by the leviathan distillate from Astor’s flamethrower –

And then Bugs pointed out the handtrucks nearby. XD Which Barnaby then refused to use because manual labor, ugh. And so the series ended with the others preparing to pump their way back to Volisport on the hand trucks, and Barnaby watching them go with an expression that suggested that he MIGHT be regretting his decision to stay behind. Or maybe he was just suffering a hangover, who knows. XD An excellent ending to an excellent series – I’m sorry to see Oxventure Presents Blades In The Dark go, but it was a VERY fun ride. And introduced me to the awesomeness of the RPG, so no complaints there!

B) And to fill out the rest of the time, I watched “I turned a plumbob into a fully functional house” from James Turner! A little while back, the Sims 4 team uploaded their own semi-official shell challenge build, “Spark Something,” which was just a giant plumbob shape on a lot. XD They said that you COULD add outer walls to the build if you so chose, and change the half-walls on the plumbob’s roof to something else if you wanted, but you couldn’t get rid of the main plumbob shape. James decided to try and fit an entire house inside the plumbob –

And, as you can tell from the title, succeeded! He did add a few walls on the sides just for decoration (like, he’d have two wall sections, then put a little roof over them, and he put an entire extra room on the top of the plumbob, but the house itself was confined within the actual plumbob – there was a bathroom in each point (James accidentally mirroring the layouts perfectly so he could just copy one bathroom into the other’s space), then the main entrance opening up onto the kitchen, dining, and living space, and then THREE bedrooms framing a tiny hall with stairs leading up – a guest bedroom, a sort of “tweeny” bedroom (as he used a lot of kid stuff, but felt the desk he chose for under the loft bed was a bit more teenager-y), and a big master bedroom that had one of the point bathrooms all its own. The roof room became a play area, with a gaming computer and play tent and toybox, then the rest of the roof became an outdoor patio complete with a barbecue, loungers, and some platform “planters” covered with plants. It all looked shockingly good, and he playtested it to make sure it was all usable – a few things had to be tweaked (mainly the position of the dining chair and the spare table in the guest room), but it was overall functional! :D So yeah, James managed to make a house out of a plumbob! That is, I think, pretty cool. :)

2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – I have finished up the “Alice drinks Victor’s blood” sequence, with Alice finishing her snack and telling Victor what she saw, and Victor confirming that she basically witnessed one of his memories (namely, when he first got Scraps as a really little kids). They’re both DEEPLY confused about how she did that, and Alice has resolved to ask Strauss about it if she gets the chance, since he’s the scholarly sort. But right now, she’s on her way out the door to head to the museum and get that sarcophagus! Little does she know she’s about to be majorly distracted from that once she gets out the main door. . .

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just one tonight, GrayStillPlays and “I swallowed the earth whole,” aka Gray plays Tasty Blue! Another entry in those “you’re an animal and you are eating EVERYTHING” games, with Gray playing the “nanoshark” level – starting out as the world’s tiniest shark eating little globules of zooplankton, and getting to the point where he could burrow into the earth’s crust, gobble up the mantle and outer core, and then explode the remaining bits of earth to eat the chunks. XD Along the way, Gray talked about how fucking creepy and alien-like the various bits of zooplankton were (which, you know what, fair); shared a story about how he got to hug a penguin called Elvis once when talking about how he didn’t want to eat the penguins in-game (and then did an about-face when he realized they were sliding down a nearby iceberg and he could position himself perfectly so that they basically slid right into his mouth); and got completely baffled by the appearance of a giant goldfish and dolphin that appeared to stalk him as his shark got big enough to devour whole planes (apparently these are characters from earlier levels!). It was a very fun romp with his sharky friend – he always seems so delighted when these creatures find new and bigger things to eat. XD

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Kind of N/A on both of them – I’m all set with the Victor Luvs Alice queue for the next couple of days, and there was nothing happening over on Valice Multiverse. I DID, however, manage to use the time to get the Valicer In The Dark verse on my official verse doc for Valice Multiverse! It’s not complete yet – I’m pretty tired and was having trouble figuring out what I wanted to write, so it’s just some stuff copied from my VLA tumblr on the verse for now – but at least now it’s officially listed and I have a base to work with! Also have to decide if I’m showing off some CC clothes for my Sims update this week or going straight for the Valicer Trio Back At The Store, but I think I can decide that in the morning.

Not too bad, I suppose! Plus I won my first game of Clue tonight for game night (lucky guess win, but I will take it)! And now it is time to go to bed and get ready for tomorrow. Gotta clean my room, write some more "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland," and do some building in Sims 4. Oh, and keep up with Gray. Trying to keep things a bit chill, especially since I suspect I am PMSing a bit now. . . Night all!
