Actually Nice Weather Thursday
Sep. 14th, 2023 11:43 pmLow humidity, lots of sun, generally pleasant. . .a shame it's not going to last with Lee brushing up against us this weekend, but hopefully after THAT we'll get a halfway-decent stretch. Fingers crossed, everybody! Anyway, here's my to-do list for the day --
Work – The day itself was again pretty quiet – mostly duplicates in the morning, then the call to the credit card people (which has resulted in at least one report on the current nonsense that I can comb through tomorrow, nice) and a couple of phone calls and updating my “credit card bullshit” document in the afternoon. And commutes that, while not GREAT, were at least not made worse by horrible weather events. Never realized just how much I appreciated that before! *sigh* Just one more day to get through – at least tomorrow is supposed to be mostly okay, weather-wise, with any tropical storm stuff hitting us in the overnight hours. . .fingers crossed!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, finishing off “I completely built up this house! Dine Out (Part 6)” from James Turner! (Well, mostly – I stopped my workout with about five minutes to go, so I decided to just finish off the episode while I was writing this up. XD) James has more or less fulfilled the brief in the title, having opened the restaurant for small bursts to save up some money (and get the New Agatha trained up), then going over to their actual home lot to put actual walls up, get the layout of the new house going, and even put in a bit of furniture courtesy of the stuff in Addison’s inventory (their new baby already has their old bed waiting for them in their nursery XD). It’s still a mostly-empty shell, but it IS a house that they can live in if they so choose, so that’s something! :)
As for the restaurant itself, it’s doing pretty well – James ended up overhauling the menu again to get all really high-difficulty dishes, increasing prices and food quality accordingly, and Addison and New Agatha are proving to be a pretty good team in the kitchen (even if New Agatha still doesn’t like Addison that much). New Agatha is slowly but surely skilling up from her training, and Addison themselves has gotten up to Mixology skill level 9 and maxed the Gourmet Cooking skill. :) The restaurant’s star rating continues to hover at about three-and-a-half to four stars, though – while people are happy to pay the very high prices for the high-quality meals, there’s a bit of a problem with wait times, and some weird pockets of low ambiance around the restaurant that James just can’t suss out. *shrug* They’re still doing really well, though, even if Addison has been working themselves to the bone to keep up with demand – James actually did one little burst just to get the perk points to hire yet another chef to help out. He’s not SURE if he can actually get the new guy, New Agatha, and Addison to work all at the same time (normally I believe you’re limited to two chefs per restaurant), but we’ll find out. . .
Eventually, because at the very end of the episode, Hilary went into labor! O.O So the new Bigwallet generation is on its way! So next episode, Hilary and Addison head to the hospital, and we get to see the next generation born! :D Exciting! Though – are we stopping in with Breanne first or no? Surely James can’t just leave Hilary in labor. . .hmmm. Guess we’ll find out?
2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice is slowly working her way through the old abandoned hospital, crawling through vents and holes under stairs and holes in walls and floors as she attempts to find out what happened to the Haunted LA camera crew. Unfortunately, what she’s found so far isn’t good – a few of the computer monitors are still hooked up to security cameras, and they’re showing people getting violently yeeted and dragged off to parts unknown. *wince* The whole place giving Alice Rutledge vibes isn’t helping. . .especially when they lead her to wonder if Grout was in fact Fish’s sire, and thus her grandsire – a relationship she does NOT want. Fortunately for you, Alice, I don’t think that’s true – but we can’t ENTIRELY rule it out, as I never did decide who created Fish. . . :p However, she can’t dwell on the question just yet, as she can hear screaming up ahead! Now the only question is, can she get to the screamer in time. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Technically a half-check as GrayStillPlays did a surprise upload today – HOWEVER, that surprise upload was in fact a two-hour “Gray plays horrible mobile games” compilation, so it doesn’t count. XD Plus I “replaced” it with a couple of bonus videos, so I’m still giving myself the full check –
A) First up, we had “The Sims 4 Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack: Official Reveal Trailer!” Yes, Stuff Packs are back for The Sims 4, and this one is all about the home cooking side hustle, coming with THREE new countertop appliances (a stand mixer, a pizza oven, and a waffle maker), a new kitchen set with new décor, new food-themed CAS items, and a food-specific selling stand. I am – cautiously intrigued, as it all LOOKS cool, but. . .yeah. It’s Sims 4 – always wait and see what bugs are gonna pop up. Banger song in the background, though – I am glad to see that trend return. :)
B) Then it was over to my Watch Later for the latest OXtra list – “7 Enemies that Steal Your Hard Earned Stuff!” Mike and Ellen taking us through those enemies that like to pick our pockets, instead of the other way around. From the Ukkiki the Monkey from Super Mario 64 stealing Mario’s iconic hat (leaving Mario more vulnerable to damage and unable to complete the level until he retrieves it), to the Bandits in Slay The Spire knicking your hard-earned gold in turn-and-card-based combat before fleeing, to the Rat Thieves of Borderlands scurrying up to you and grabbing your moolah before running off to bury it (and as you can’t use a shovel in this game, you’d better shoot them before they do), there are plenty of enemies who will steal the player character’s stuff if given half a chance. *shakes fist* It’s only acceptable when WE do it to YOU, damn it!
C) And finally, it was time to hit the Subs and see the latest from Josh Way – “SKETCHY: Sylvan Thatch Comic Panels!” Some old footage of him drawing panels from his webcomic, “Sylvan Thatch,” which he got about twelve comics into before realizing “this is too much work and not exactly what I want to do” and abandoning it. Which, fair, and better to realize now than later! But he’s still proud of some of the work he did on it, and he wanted to show off the process behind some of the panels showing his character Gilly’s flights of fancy as she trekked through the woods near her house. Plus some random sketches of the family car going up and down hills that he was proud of. XD Very nice stuff, even if it’s a little sad he couldn’t get the comic off the ground because he’s just not a comics guy.
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check on both counts –
Victor Luvs Alice – As this week’s queue is, as previously stated, all set, I focused my attention on getting some more of the pictures for next week’s Chill Valicer Save update sorted – up to twenty-five covering the morning farm chores and whatnot! Just gotta do the pictures covering them at the store now. . .
Valice Multiverse – One thread reply from Brynlee Marie, nice and easy. And I got distracted by the Incorrect Quotes generator again, so I have a couple more of those ready for a later post. XD
So that was fun, at least! Good to be at least a little caught up -- and now it's time for me to head out and hit the sheets. Still got one more day to get through, work-wise! Hopefully it won't be too horrible. . .night all!
