Frustrating Friday

crossover_chickFrustrated with the traffic, frustrated with the weather, frustrated with my damn mouse not highlighting stuff correctly. . .though I seem to have fixed that particular problem now, fortunately. *deep sigh* But yeah, not exactly the greatest day, though at least I got some stuff done --
Work – Bleh day – most of it was duplicates and deceased clean-up, with a few credit card calls – all perfectly timed to interrupt me while I was trying to take my breaks. And then I made the mistake of trying to explain some of the credit card nonsense (like, how our company’s web portal handles updating pledges and such) to my coworkers, and – I don’t know if there’s any way I CAN explain all the bullshit to them without confusing them more. I mean, I’M used to it, but I’ve been working with this idiocy for years now, so. . .add in some pretty awful commutes, both going in and going home (in driving rain no less, because of COURSE it rained today), and – meeeh. Very glad it’s Friday, just wish it had been a better one!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – last night on the bike this week, with yet more James Turner as I work to finish the HSY/DOR LPs before returning to Oxventure –
A) Finished off “Bigwallet Family Reunion! Dine Out (Part 9)!” James finished off the renovation of Addison and Hilary’s backyard and set up a nice dinner party family reunion with Addison’s immediate family members (Dads, sister, sister’s new fiance). Addison bummed around with the kids during the day (as they’d freshly aged up and thus didn’t immediately have school) while Hilary did her teaching thing, then around 6 PM everyone came over, Addison made some nice grilled sausages for everyone, and they all had a lovely meal and a swim in the pool! :) Yes, the Sims did like to wander off on their own at times as Sims do, and there was some terrifying glitching as James tried to make Hilary do fun jumps off the diving platform (which, maybe that was Hilary, who dislikes Fitness, trying to rebel against his commands), but the party was a nice gold-level party and everyone had a good time. :) Good place to end the penultimate episode!
B) Started “I squeezed a whole extra level in here! High School Years (Part 49)!” Over to the penultimate episode of the actual HSY LP, and Breanne so far has had an episode of ups and downs –
I. The ups – as per the title, James squeezed an extra level into her warehouse studio and apartment (by making the walls on the lower level small instead of tall, and adding another small level above that) so he could build her a nice little loft office area overlooking her indoor studio space! He also built her a new outdoor set in the style of a faux gazebo in springtime, which was super cute! She and Rey got married in Copperdale at one of the side piers (the one with a cute little gazebo at the end of it) with her family in attendance! (Even if none of them really watched it.) She’s updated her wardrobe – both in the “room” sense and “her actual clothes” sense! And she’s continuing to pick up new gigs for her photography, which means MAYBE she’ll become a two-star celebrity before the LP is over!
II. The downs – Her FIRST attempt at getting a new gig after the renovation couldn’t be completed as the game wouldn’t recognize her trying to make a Sim glow with the studio lights (either that or James was doing it wrong, but who knows with Sims 4), forcing her to cancel it. As stated, while her family attended her elopement on the pier, they were too distracted by their own romantic interests to watch it. Her attempt to use her Dads as subjects in her new outdoor set was foiled by bad weather and them refusing to stay in position. And, worst of all, Kenji, the awesome roommate who cleans? Not only did he refuse to get excited over Breanne’s engagement and wedding, he actually started ACTIVELY FLIRTING WITH HER NEW HUSBAND IN FRONT OF HER. Now, I thought that Kenji was in fact Aro (he didn’t seem to be romantically interested in men or women), but I guess he might be gay or bisexual when it comes to woohoo? Either way, I left it with James trying to get Breanne to scold him for this, and he’s probably getting kicked out before the end of the episode. I mean, if James decides he wants Breanne to have kids as well (though I’m pretty sure he’s leaning toward “no”), there’s your spare bedroom right there. . . We’ll finish this up on Sunday, then hopefully I can get through the final episode of each LP at the beginning of the week, leaving Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday free for “Oxventure: Extinction!” :D
2. Continue writing Valicer In The Dark snippets: Partial check – I got to my writing late thanks to game night (Trivial Pursuit with some new cards Mom ordered online – it was quite the battle at the end, but I did end up winning by getting lucky with a simple question at the end), and I just wasn’t feeling trying to start my next planned snippet, the one from Smiler’s POV about the time they gave Alice some cash so she could actually buy some lunch. I was determined to do SOMETHING in the doc, so I instead wrote out a basic outline for the short; properly noted down all the various other “coaster factions” (the cults for Nemesis, Oblivion, Galactica, Th13teen, and Wickerman, and Rita’s smuggling group); wrote up the names of some “important citizens” in this particular verse (I am having fun stealing stuff from Sims for this purpose XD); and added the term “Welcher” to my “slang dictionary” (here it specifically refers to someone who has not only not paid a gang who did a job for them, but also tried to kill them – anyone who is a “Welcher” soon ends up dead themselves, to explain why people don’t do this in the actual RPG of Blades In The Dark). Simple stuff, but it’s good to do a bit of worldbuilding, and at least now I have a proper outline for my snippet!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – Friday two-in, two-out –
A) First up, from Josh Way – “Personal Update: Seasonal Employee Edition!” Josh bringing us up to speed on what’s going on in his personal life – and what’s going on is seasonal retail work! Josh has found one job at his local mall for the holiday season, and has another lined up that he thinks will soon be official, but doesn’t want to jinx it. It’s not REALLY what he wanted (he mentioned the pay being INSULTINGLY low), but it’s SOMETHING that will help keep him and his afloat. (Though, since they live in a VERY expensive area, there’s still a possibility they’ll have to sell the house and downgrade. Hopefully not for a little bit longer, though.) And he’s working with various people to try and find a new, better job and get unemployment (he’s SLOOOOWLY being cleared of the fraud on his account from when someone during COVID stole his unemployment identity). In the meantime, he’s continuing to push his two Patreons (courtesy of him slightly changing up his Gmail address), his website, his art, his Etsy shop, all of that. We’re rooting for you, Josh!
B) And second up, from GrayStillPlays – “I was paid to drink deadly liquids,” aka Gray plays Drink Clicker – Tap Tap Drink! You know the drill – that dude who was doing arm wrestling, sprinting, and competitive eating has moved onto competitive DRINKING, downing cups of coffee with happy faces on them, various types of tea, various types of milk, various kinds of cocktail, and “kidsbeer” (I presume they meant the non-alcoholic stuff – or maybe root beer) and getting paid ridiculous amounts of money while Gray upgraded his sip power, his mouth size, his stomach size, and his digestion power to help him defeat various challenges! Like “down all these drinks in a certain amount of time” or “drink so much you get kicked out of this dude’s free-refills drink shop in under three minutes.” Gray also bought the guy new haircuts, clothing, furniture, and teddy bears to increase his sip power, XP gain, and gold gain. Because a teddy bear staring at you makes you level up faster. XD Pretty standard stuff, but still quite amusing – especially when Gray managed to completely break the game, presumably by having his guy drink everything too fast for the emulator to handle. XD We do love when Gray brings a game to its knees, w000!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check –
Victor Luvs Alice – Finished up the text and tags on my Song Saturday post for tomorrow, featuring “You And Your Friend” by Snake River Conspiracy – an ACTUAL poly song, how about that. :p It’s got the Valicer vibes, so I’m happy to feature it!
Valice Multiverse – Put two thread replies into the queue (one that I’d actually missed earlier from a different partner while trying to keep up with all of Marie’s stuff – fortunately she doesn’t seem to mind the wait), so that’s all sorted, good.
All right, time to end this Friday by heading to bed. Tomorrow is a non-cleaning Saturday -- which is good, because I've got Sim screenshots to sort, tumblr tags to catch up on, more "Londerland Bloodlines" to write, and more YouTube videos to watch. Plus some building in Sims 4, since we're once again post patch and my buffer is good enough that I don't have to worry about getting back to my Chill Valicer Save for a while. Trying not to get TOO far ahead. But we'll see how the day actually goes. . .night all!
