Never Play Sims During a Thunderstorm
May. 29th, 2005 09:42 pmNo, I didn't get a power surge or a power outage (thank God), I simply didn't get a chance to change Emily's aspiration. Which sucks too, but not as bad as losing all that work.
-D: So she's still popularity?-
Yeah. Here's what happened:
1. I finally turn the computer back on and start playing Sims again, as it looks like the rain has stopped.
2. Predictably, thunderstorm starts up again, but I decide to play through.
3. Things go well, actually -- Emily had a Roof Raiser Party, the Mortes and the Von Brauns (and Holly) all made best friends, I was able to do the "Emmett and alcohol" story without making the poor guy actually pass out, Holly got a firm foothold with Virginia and made friends with Nery. I save at this point.
4. Emily comes back with her A+ and the chance to change her aspiration. I guess there's a sort of timer thing on that, because although I hit yes, I didn't get the chance to change it. I get a little annoyed, figure "okay, I'll go back to the neighborhood and redo that --"
5. HUGE bolt of lighting flashes outside my window, I panic --
6. AND AUTOMATICALLY HIT SAVE.
Of course, I was ultra pissed at the moment. But then, while I was doing the dinner dishes, I remembered -- hacks. Dangerous things, but probably not so dangerous as the slow corruption of boolprop (which I probably wouldn't get right anyway). I've located a picture that should allow me to switch Emily over to Family like she's supposed to be, but I want to back up my files beforehand.
-VD: Good idea. We still remember how upset you were when your floppies became unusable.-
:( I know. Thank god for FanFiction.net's backup feature, huh? And luckily I was able to retrieve most of my stories in the end. I would hate to lose all my families, though. Especially the Von Brauns -- I think it's safe to say they've become my favorite.
-D: You just like looking at half-naked college me.-
Yesum. :D Pictures of what happened in

Note to self -- now that you have money, look at getting a new video card for your computer. Also, possibly, a bit more ram for the C drive. I'm really getting sick of how slow the game runs sometimes.
