Yeah, never got out of the thirties today -- last bit of winter throwing itself our way before we start inching toward March and spring! But the day itself was all right --

Work – Fairly quiet Thursday – couple of credit card calls, some obituary stuff, another completely useless check-in call with the credit card people. Nothing particularly interesting to report, really. We’ll see how Friday goes!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, returning to James Turner’s latest miniseries – “My Sim has to experience the worst of everything. Every Lot Challenge Again. (Part 2)!” The second episode brought with it a couple of changes to the rules – specifically, a new challenge to change Semaj’s home from a Haunted House Residential to a normal one (Befriend Guidry, Bonehilda, And Max Medium Skill), and some undesirable results on the wheel that James spins every time he completes a challenge to remove lot challenges and bad lot traits (because there’s more challenges on EA’s list than James has lot traits and challenges to remove, and he thought it would be good watching if he occasionally got a bad result from completing a goal). So, how did that affect Semaj’s attempts to turn his house from the worst lot in the world to something normal Sims would want to live in? Let’s sum up and the good and the bad so far in this episode –

A) The Good – Semaj has managed to complete a few more items on the “24 For 24” checklist! With the help of a Sims 4 frog breeding chart James found, he was able to successfully breed a new type of frog from the ones he had collected, AND he was able to woohoo Don Lothario in a dumpster, checking two items off the list at once! As a result, he has managed to clear the “Mold” lot challenge (which was extremely lucky, as the mold was rapidly getting out of control and James was getting worried about Semaj suffering an early death) AND the “Mean Vibe” lot trait (which didn’t really do MUCH, but I don’t think it was assisting in his attempts to befriend people). He also made some good progress toward befriending both Guidry AND Vlad, found a nice bottle of (unaged, unfortunately) nectar in the prairie grass growing around his house, and found a really expensive TV dumpster diving for cash! Not bad, right?

B) The Bad – Exceeeept. . . Well. Woohooing Don also scored Semaj one of the new BAD outcomes on the wheel – “Pay $5,000.” When he had like $300 in his household funds. So now he’s in debt and James keeps having to cheat his money away until he’s paid off said debt. The dumpster diving was a desperate attempt to find stuff that he could sell for quick cash, and while he did snag that expensive TV, it was broken – and his attempts to fix it started a fire. (Which at least fulfilled THAT challenge to James’s satisfaction, though he already had it marked as “spin the wheel for this one later as my commenters insisted setting all those mold piles on fire counted but I want to clear this $5,000 debt first.”) Meaning the TV got burned up and was worth nothing except the $768 or so he got in insurance. (And yes, Semaj may be a spellcaster, but James hasn’t done ANYTHING with that in this series so far, meaning no, he very much does NOT have the wonder of Repairio.) On top of that, he got chomped by Vlad in the first ten minutes of the video – and declared a “Delicious Drink” by the vampire (despite being covered in mold spores at the time); kept having to deal with Lilith hogging the bathroom for tepid baths while she completed her stayover (to the point where Semaj had to shower in the Oasis Springs gym while going Don Lothario hunting); got told by the waste management people that he had to take better care of keeping his outdoor trash from overflowing (though at least they couldn’t fine him as he had no money at the time); and got his ass kicked by Morgyn in a duel – and couldn’t even ask them to teach him a spell or anything afterward because they weren’t in their special “Sage” role at the time. Oh, and also he’s constantly tired because his bed sucks and constantly hungry because he has no money for food (AND no power) so he’s living off quick meals.

So, basically, SOME progress toward making things better, but for now, life is bad. XD We’ll see how this episode wraps up, and if Semaj can get his debt paid off, tomorrow!

2. Work on the OT3 Week Valicer prompts: Check – today was the “Free Day” prompt, and I ended up going mushy, with a Valicer In The Dark fic with the trio discussing how none of them expected to end up where they are at the moment (part of a reasonably-well-known criminal gang living in a house in Six Towers) – but how they are so glad they did, because it’s so much better than the futures they always pictured for themselves. :) Just some good old fashioned fluff with my OT3 being all, well, OT3-y. XD And now it is time to circle back around and start editing all the prompts – though I did also drop a line to Newt asking what he wanted for a birthday gift fic (his birthday is March 23rd if I recall correctly), so we’ll see if that gets thrown into the mix as well!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check for everything that I could watch this evening – GrayStillPlays uploaded another two-hour compilation video of all his Tasty Planet stuff, which just wasn’t happening. On the plus side, I now know what I’m watching after I finish Oxventure: Deadlands next week! XD But fortunately Josh Way also uploaded tonight with something I could watch – “SCREEN TIME: International Showcase! (Zone of Interest, The Teacher's Lounge, Perfect Days)!” Josh talking about three international movies he’s watched recently, including one he watched the night before filming his reviews –

I. Zone of Interest: a Holocaust movie with the horror on the margins, focusing on an SS officer and his family living right over the fence from fucking Auschwitz. O.O a beautiful and terrible movie as per Josh, who praised director Glaser’s range over his career; however, it is a pretty nightmarish movie, as all Holocaust movies are, so, uh, yeah. You’ll know if you can take it or not!

II. The Teacher’s Lounge: a German movie about a teacher investigating thefts at her school (after a Muslim student is falsely accused) and making a secret recording of the teacher’s lounge because she thinks it’s one of the staff stealing – and capturing something that causes a snowball of bad things to happen. According to Josh, this movie is apparently full of awkward confrontations and nightmare scenarios (meaning his friend Dan would love it), and it’s very realistic and ramps up the tension well throughout the film. Again, though, this is a tough movie to take if you don’t like horrible anxiety movies – another “you’ll know if you like this or not immediately” kind of flick!

III. Perfect Days: the movie Josh saw the night before recording – a nice slice-of-life movie about a guy who cleans toilets in Tokyo and his daily routine, hobbies, and whatnot. It’s got little glimpses of his life and where he came from before he became a toilet cleaner (which is not such a shitty job as we might think, because Japanese public toilets aren’t nearly as bad as American ones apparently), but it’s mostly focused around this guy’s current life, and is a very subtle movie when it comes to emotional beats and such. But it’s also easily the lightest and least anxiety-inducing of the bunch, so it’s the one Josh recommended that people see the most. :p

So yeah – three international features, two of which will make you go O.O over the subject matter. Not my thing, but maybe it’s yours!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: One very check, one – kind of check –

Victor Luvs Alice – In a surprise burst of productivity tonight, I not only got all the pictures for my upcoming “Chill Valicer Save House Upgrade” posts sorted, I also drafted out the posts and copied over everything I wrote about the upgrades in my Dreamwidth over to tumblr as starter text. o.O I mean – yay? Good to be a bit ahead of the game here? Especially after I’ve been struggling so much with wanting to post anything on tumblr lately? *shrug*

Valice Multiverse – Welp, I had two anon asks in my inbox, ready to be queued up – but right as I was finishing up my answer to the first one (with someone going on about how, if you called this number, you could get free good pocket sewn in all your skirts, with free cake and shit-talking included – my Valicer In The Dark Alice was all over it), I accidentally hit “Post Now” while trying to queue it. So I went “fuck it” and just posted the other one as well (someone claiming the extra day of winter we get in leap years is God punishing them for their homosexuality – Alice responded that if it really was a punishment, everyone wouldn’t be experiencing it, but did wish that leap days happened in summer). So no queue by virtue of me posting what would have been in it early. *shrug* I GUESS that counts?

Yeah, I'd class that as a decent day. And now it is time to go to bed and prepare for the final workday of the week. Hopefully it is not a shitshow. . .and hopefully a certain check from a certain car dealership finally fucking shows up so I get my FREE oil change as indicated by the paperwork they gave me when they sold me the car. *grumbles* We'll see -- night all!
