crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)

Weather wasn't great (rain and increasing mugginess, bleh) and my day at work was only so-so, as you will see below -- at least the afternoon was a little bit better --

Work – Another very “eh” day – the ride in wasn’t great, though it was less chaotic than yesterday; the day itself was mostly obituaries and related roster maintenance, interspersed with phone calls fixing a problem on one of the computers (my login wasn’t working) and various credit card calls (including one where I had to fight with our credit card company’s website while entering a donor’s card); and the ride home was a trafficky mess. *sigh* I’m going to be looking forward to when everyone gets out of school and we’re past all the graduations and such bullshit. Just one more day to go. . .

Oh, and no beanbags today, because, while we didn’t have thunderstorms as was predicted, it did rain today, and it looked like it was going to rain more when I got home. We’ll see what happens tomorrow!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike again, and back with the second half of “I have absolute no problems in the Every Occult Challenge - Part 5” by James Turner! This episode was all about the grind for the most part – James forcing Bailey to Copypasto (and occasionally Grand Delicioso) her way into overloading to try and get her cursed (with the curse that he WANTED her to get, that is); Nalani to constantly work on her robotics; Vlad to obsessively study archaeology; and Semaj to garden garden garden. The poor gang had to spend pretty much the entire weekend like that, their needs and moods artificially boosted by the array of crystals around them and the new earrings James made them wear –

But, well, you can’t argue with results! Because by the end of the weekend, Semaj was up to level 9 of the gardening skill; Vlad had made very good progress on his archaeology skill (AND gotten promoted in his part-time babysitter job; he’s now officially a Nanny); Bailey had indeed picked up the Curse of the Night Wraith, meaning James just had to wait for it to show up and get another “visitor occult” on the lot to finally check them all off the list –

And Nalani had successfully created a Servo! :D A feminine Servo, to be precise, called just Servo Bot. James was VERY pleased with this, as he had really wanted to get a new occult into the family and it was now obvious that Semaj was NOT pregnant with an alien baby. And, as usual, he welcomed the new occult into the household by spinning that wheel –

And got “Everyone goes skiing!” XD Well, at least you didn’t have to set your money to zero again, James. Or make another bottle of nectar. XD Anyway, as he’d just contacted aliens, James didn’t want to leave the lot JUST yet (wanted to see if Semaj would be abducted), so instead he waited until after the gang had completed another day at Semaj’s workplace to send them off on their little mini-ski vacation (learning in the process that the Night Wraith CAN actually show up in the daytime – it appeared to torment Bailey while she was fishing with Nalani – so there’s a non-zero possibility that he COULD get the Night Wraith and Patchy on the lot together at the same time). Once the day was done, everyone headed over to Mt. Komorebi to do a few passes on the bunny slopes, then once everyone had done at least one low-intensity run of the big mountain, James sent them all home to avoid Servo freezing to death. Because apparently THAT is a thing that can happen. XD Anyway, they got home just in time to pay the bills, and for Semaj to contact aliens one more time before he headed off to do more crystal-enhanced gardening –

Only for the game to surprise Semaj by dumping SIX aliens on his doorstep in response to his call! :D So now James actually has his PICK of aliens to choose from to join the family! Or, rather, his commenters do, as James decided to end the episode on a cliffhanger and let the fans decide (along with what Servo’s special area on the lot should look like). Though he admitted to being very drawn to purple alien Tom Beck’s very on-point eyeliner. . . We’ll see what comes of that when we next return to this series!

2. Continue editing “Start At The Beginning...Sort Of”: Check – I have finished Chapter Two, with Smiler and Alice agreeing to come with Victor and Emily to help with their Barkis problem, and Alice revealing that the Liddell fire was deliberate arson (even if she’s still a bit reluctant to confess that her employer Dr. Bumby was the arsonist), and getting assurances from Victor and Smiler that, if and when the Bluecoats are fetched to deal with Barkis, they’ll back her up if she tells them what she knows. :) Nice, positive note to end things on – a pity the rest of the story focuses on how all this goes wrong. XD But yeah, chapter is done, and I’ve got the document ready to upload into FF.net’s editor for a final pass before uploading it this weekend. We’ll see how it all goes!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check plus, getting through some short videos tonight –

A) First up, from the Watch Later, we had “I Challenge EA To Fix These 8 Bugs In The Sims 4” – a recent release from Petey Plays It! A reaction to a recent blog post from EA about how they’ve created a team to start fixing more bugs and improve the “core experience” of The Sims 4 (ten years in. . .), Petey decided to test their commitment by posting a list of eight specific bugs – ranging from things like “you can’t frame pictures of experimental food you order in restaurants because if you do, they all change to the same picture” to “these work from home careers don’t pay you appropriately for work-at-home tasks. . .or at all, in the case of the Handyperson career” to “the Finchwick Fairs can and will straight-up steal your animals” to “do you know how much work I put in to earn the ‘Top Notch Toddler’ trait in my Super Sim LP only for the stupid bugged trait not to show up?!” – and then promising to do a follow-up video in a few months to see if any of them are fixed. My money is on “none of them get fixed” because EA doesn’t want its developers focusing on bug fixes, they want them focusing on free log-in gifts because they want this computer game to be more like a mobile game, but we’ll see if I’m pleasantly surprised later!

B) And second up, from the Subs, we had “Fun With Shorts: The Story of Television Part 2,” the latest from Josh Way! The second part of one of his recent riffs, this one focused on the history of television through its creation and refinement in the 30s, to its debut at the 1939 World’s Fair, to how it somehow helped the war effort in the 40s, to how it somehow became a staple of entertainment after World War II (there were a looot of jumps in this particular video). Josh as usual came in with some excellent riffs, including a fake commercial for The Simpsons featuring Homer as The Pope. Which, frankly, I wouldn’t put it past them. XD Good stuff, as always!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –

Victor Luvs Alice – Realized something a little earlier today at work – namely, that I ought to reblog something Corpse Bride-related for Victor’s birthday on Sunday, despite that being one of the days I don’t generally queue anything up. Seemed unfair not to have something ready to go, since both Alice and Smiler got a regular post along with their “plushy celebration” picture! And since Alice got a reblog of an ancient “Trailer Talk” post from the early days of my blog to celebrate her birthday, I figured I could do the same with Victor! So I went back and found the two posts for the two Corpse Bride trailers and watched both to see which one I wanted to feature. I was initially leaning toward the longer of the two, since it was nicer quality and probably objectively the better trailer –

But then I realized that the shorter trailer has as its background music “In The Hall Of The Mountain King.”

Shorter trailer won solely because of the Inadvertent Alton Towers Connection. XD Yeah, yeah, I know that music is used for all SORTS of stuff, but it IS also kind of Alton Towers’s theme tune, so – had to do it. XD So that’s all set for Sunday!

Valice Multiverse – Over here, we just had one anon ask to queue up, commenting on how anger was a funny emotion that meant you could understand how orcas kill for fun while just sitting around eating lunch. Alice’s response was along the lines of “I understand the sentiment but that was an unfun fact to learn about orcas,” with Smiler chiming in about how Free Willy doesn’t teach you that sort of thing. XD Nothing too complicated!

So yeah -- work day not great, but afternoon was all right -- glad to have all this stuff done. And now it's time to hit the sack and hopefully get a decent night's sleep in preparation for Friday. Here's hoping it's not too bad. . .night all!
