crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Mostly because of work-related stuff, as you will see below -- fortunately I got plenty of other stuff done too this afternoon despite everything --

Work – Another quiet one with some annoying bits – had a guy call in to do a direct debit payment on his CCA pledge. . .after he’d left three hang-up “messages” on our phones right after we’d closed up for the day and was in the process of basically doing the same when I came out of the bathroom; found what looks like another processing mistake from our processors that we’ll probably have to fix; and got a question from our Fiscal department that means I have to pester our credit card company about missed stuff again. *sigh* Oh, and the ride home was absolutely MISERABLE – just, fucking traffic everywhere. I am sincerely hoping things are better tomorrow!

Beanbags Update: We had a late start thanks to the aforementioned traffic, but we did end up playing, and having a nice, mostly egalitarian day with everybody getting one win each. :) Though Dad was definitely the champ, as he played well enough to get second every time he didn’t win, while Mom’s game was much more variable. . . Final scores were me W-3-2; Dad 2-2-W; Mom 3-W-3. Not bad. :)

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike after beanbags, with a new video – the first half of “I finally got an alien in Every Occult Challenge! - Part 6” by James Turner! Yes, the stand-out event of this episode was Semaj moving in good old Tom Beck, the alien that everyone agreed needed to join the family because of his awesome eyeliner. :p There were a few bumps along the road – namely, Tom leaving during their initial meeting RIGHT BEFORE Semaj was going to ask him to move in, then James having to deal with the “can’t move in people who don’t have a home in the world” bug and thus needing to move in Tom through the “Manage Households” screen – but he has been integrated into the family and received his special mood-boosting earrings. :p Other things of note that happened in this first half included –

A) Semaj maxing his Gardening skill, buying rare seed packets until he had all the magic beans, and growing the Magic Bean Tree to get access to the Forbidden Fruit of the PlantSim(with Bailey even kindly Copypastoing it for him so he’d have one to plant as well as one to eat) – only to plant both fruits because James forgot Sims auto-plant everything in the area when you tell them to plant stuff. And then James discovered that you can only use the portal once per day (though it has a VERY funny tooltip pop-up explaining it). And that when you use the portal, you’re not GUARANTEED to get a Forbidden Fruit after that first time. Whoops. At least when the trees grow he’ll have all the Forbidden Fruits he wants? (He also got a crystal tree because apparently seed gems can also appear in rare seed packets, so that’s nice too!)

B) James building Tom Beck his own personal UFO hovering behind the house to live in (with his own personal abduction beam hiding the magical portal he uses to get up into it), and Servo a one-by-one closet a la Bender’s home in Futurama. . .with a secret entrance to an elevator that goes down to Semaj’s secret science lab! Because, well, Bender had a whole apartment behind his closet, so why not? XD Of course, James ran out of money before he could fully furnish it, and he’s already debating whether or not he wants Semaj to continue being a scientist now that the alien is part of the family. . .we’ll see what happens with it!

C) James checking off the final NPC Occult Visitor with the appearance of the Night Wraith on the home lot! With a special guest appearance by the Grim Reaper, courtesy of Semaj’s Grim-summoning bracelet, because he needs to have two visitors at a time on the lot for it to count. So that entire list is done! Unfortunately for Bailey, James thinks it’s more amusing to keep her cursed, so she’s not going to be free of the Night Wraith anytime soon. XD Maybe we CAN get them and Patchy on the lot at the same time, if we’re lucky!

D) James constantly fighting with Vlad to get him to study archaeology so he’d be ready to dig up artifacts and assemble relics to turn Semaj into a skeleton (the other “temporary life state” Semaj has to experience after being a PlantSim) – every time James makes him sit down and read his archaeology books, the moment James clicks off him to go tend to another Sim, Vlad goes off and starts doing something else. XD James finds it deeply frustrating while the rest of us are deeply amused.

E) And in the same vein as what happened with the Forbidden Fruit, James sent Semaj, Bailey, and Tom to all go fishing at Lake Lunvik after Nalani lured in some fish with her mermaid powers to get a salmon for the “Forced Friendship” potion – only to accidentally mount it while trying to Copypasto it (which you can’t do with fish). I left off with him getting the group to assemble back at the fishing spot to try again. XD We’ll see if he has any better luck in the second half of the episode tomorrow!

2. Continue editing “Start At The Beginning...Sort Of”: Check – I have started edits on Chapter Three, with Victor, Alice, Smiler, and Emily all arriving in Brightstone to track down Victoria Everglot’s new husband! Alice is feeling weird about being back in the place where she grew up, while Emily is starting to succumb to her baser instincts a bit, I’m afraid. Fortunately she’s currently much more interested in soul-sucking Barkis than the gang. :p I also added a new score idea to the master doc – the gang having to tangle with the one lord who still maintains an estate in Six Towers, Lord Rowan, when he shows up and starts talking about owning the greenhouse the gang has found and wanting them to pay a ridiculous amount of rent (this is AFTER they’ve started fixing up the place, mind). Felt like a good way to cap off the “Greenhouse” arc of stories I’m planning. :)

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Back to full check today, catching up on the two Josh Way videos I missed earlier this week (and making a note of the latest GSP compilation video for later workouts) –

A) “STREAM TIME: The First Omen + Jim Henson Idea Man” – Josh reviews two movies he watched on Disney+ recently – The First Omen, which is a prequel to The Omen (about a nun with a troubled past and all that entails in a horror movie), and Jim Henson Idea Man, a documentary about – well, see the title. XD Josh enjoyed both, stating that The First Omen was excellent as a horror film (though he could take or leave the last ten minutes that make it a prequel) and that Jim Henson Idea Man had actual fresh new stuff on the creation of the Muppets and everything around them instead of just retreading everything from previous documentaries (though he noted that it only touched upon some of the nastier bits of Jim’s life. . .and made him selling the Muppets to Disney look like the culmination of a lifelong dream instead of a ten-year legal battle). So yeah – if you like horror and/or the Muppets, you may have some things to check out there!

B) “Garfield Movie Not-Review” – Josh doesn’t really review The Garfield Movie because he walked out of it forty minutes in! Because he wasn’t enjoying himself and figured he might as well run some errands in the mall instead. Yeaaaah. Now, Josh admitted he didn’t go in with high hopes, but he had hoped that it would stay true to the comics in some way, and it really, really didn’t in the small bit that he watched, with his major point of contention being that they got Garfield’s character wrong? How, when the trailers make it clear that he’s still super food-focused?

He’s nice to Odie. Like, from the START. We’ve had Garfield being nice to Odie before – generally when he gets into a mess and Odie ends up saving him, forcing Garfield to acknowledge his worth for five seconds – but it’s kind of key to their relationship that, generally, Garfield will kick Odie off a table without even thinking about it. Like, I know this is a movie for kids, but you can have Garfield being kind of a dick, at least. I’m pretty sure that’s the point of classic Garfield – he’s kind of a dick. XD So yeah, Josh cannot recommend the movie that he couldn’t even sit through. Who is surprised.

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check again –

Victor Luvs Alice – Finished up my write-up for my chosen Song Saturday (a CB video containing the ending of the song “Shattered” by Trading Yesterday), talking about how it makes me think of this half-formed AU in my head where Victor and Smiler get pulled into the events of American McGee’s Alice and go through Wonderland with Alice, helping her save it. Because I always have like five Valicer AUs in my head at a time these days. XD But at least it’s done and ready for Saturday, yay~

Valice Multiverse – Welp, I logged into this account and immediately got hit with a post by Brynlee Marie, creator of the Valice daughter OC Maddie that I play with so much, talking about how she’s a horrible creator because she missed celebrating Maddie and Victor’s combined birthday, and I immediately went “SHIT I forgot that Maddie shares her birthday with Victor too!” So I reblogged that to let Marie know that she wasn’t alone in being a fail creator. XD And sent her an ask with Victor asking Maddie if she wanted some leftover birthday cake so we could do some birthday stuff after the fact, at least. *nods* Gotta make it up to the muses somehow!

Apart from that, I had two anon asks for the queue – one a follow-up to the ask that talked about how orcas kill for fun (asking how Alice and Smiler thought they got the name “Killer Whales;” Alice pointed out they kill things to eat too while Smiler acknowledged it was one of those things that’s not fucked up until you think about it), and one asking why threesomes were only for sex and why couldn’t they just go insert themselves in a couple’s argument if they wanted (Smiler was like “because threesomes are about pleasure and you’re just going to make things worse by intruding – though you probably WILL stop the argument out of sheer confusion, so there’s that”). So we’re good there for another night!

*nods* Not too shabby, I suppose. Just wish I hadn't had to deal with that awful commute. . .well, we're almost at the end of the week! So I had better get to bed so we can get through Friday faster. :p Night all!
