Distracted Thursday Night

crossover_chickBecause guess who got her period earlier today? *points at self* Which always makes it harder for me to concentrate. . .but I got through the workday and the evening, and got most of what I wanted to get done, done --
Work – Another quiet day at the office – I wasn’t really expecting anything different. Though there were a couple of calls to break up the day a bit this time – one guy writing off a pledge, another lady needing me to stay on the phone while she set up a check to be automatically sent to us, that sort of thing. But yeah, still a lot of “looking at online obituaries to see if we have any of the names and then proceeding down any roster maintenance rabbit holes that may result.” And doing the crossword. *sigh* On the PLUS side, they did FINALLY confirm we’re getting half-day Fridays in July and August again, and that we have a four-day weekend next week, so that’s good. Means tomorrow is the last full-length Friday I’ll have to sit through for two months! Yay.
As for beanbags, it was nice enough to play, so we did the usual three rounds, and I proved to be perfectly middling – throwing just well enough to get constant seconds. By contrast, Mom had a great first game, but a lousy second and third, while Dad went downhill rapidly in the first game, then came back strong in the second and third. Final scores were me 2-2-2; Dad 3-W-W; Mom W-3-3. We’ll see if we can manage something more egalitarian tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the GrayStillPlays compilation “GTA 5 but chaos happens 142 minutes straight!” I have finished off video #4, aka “Gray must get through the GTA V map in a straight line while suffering from every-thirty-seconds chaos” (as seems to be very common in these boards, what helped him win in the end was his skydiving skills) and started video #5, aka “More structured chaos to torment Gray as he goes around the map” (specifically, this video features Gray having to deal with slowly-stacking permanent chaos effects as he gets each checkpoint – like having permanent five wanted stars and traffic coming at him like a magnet – along with temporary chaos effects that only trigger when he crashes into something or someone. As you might imagine, Gray’s suffering during this one was great XD). We’ll finish that off tomorrow, and check another compilation off our list!
2. Edit Gigs’s Gift Fic: Check – managed to overcome the old period malaise long enough to get the second draft done, yaaay~ So that’ll be going up on Sunday, since, you know, that’s her birthday and all. :p Hope you like, Gigs!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check plus – I got to this late, but the two videos I wanted to watch were both short, so it all worked out –
A) First up, we had “The Sims 4 Lovestruck Expansion Pack: Official Reveal Trailer!” Yes, because The Sims 4 is making a new expansion pack all about LURVE. Which has been spoiled all to hell and back because of leaks, but still. The official trailer was – well, not really that much to write home about, I admit. Just showed a guy striking out a few times with random people in the new world before finding love on a dating app, showing off things like some of the new clothes and outfits, two new woohoo locations (a storage closet and a romance blanket), a new death (heartbreak from being cheated on), and a very goofy grown-up dress-up chest (which, okay, that was funny). But I find the whole thing kind of “meh,” if only because I look at all this and go “modders have already done this, and probably better than EA will.” I guess we’ll see what happens! (Though I WAS rather pleased to learn over on Sims Community that a free update before the pack’s release should bring something called “relationship boundaries” to the game...and it looks like that means we can have non-mod-added polyamory! Which, yeah, probably still not giving up Wonderful Whims or Open Love Life, but it’s good to have a new base-game system backing that up.)
B) And second up, we had the latest from Josh Way – “Fun With Shorts: Black Arrow!” AKA another awful Lone Ranger short ripe for the riffing! :D This one was another Tonto Solo Adventure, with him going up against the mysterious “Black Arrow” Native American warrior trying to keep the wagon trains out of his clan’s pass by shooting giant black arrows at them and attacking them with his condor pet. Naturally Tonto was on the side of the white settlers, and naturally Josh ripped the hell out of the short, from the animation loops to the ridiculous plot. XD Ahh, I love a good Lone Ranger short. Mostly because they never are actually good. :p
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check-ish and check –
Victor Luvs Alice – I actually spent more time on my dash tonight, because Satirical actually asked me a WIP tag game question! About “The Joker And The Queen,” the sequel to my “Alice and Victor are Bart and Ken from the Dirk Gently TV show’s first season” fic "As Long As You Love Me," which sees me add Smiler and all the other Alton Coasters into the mix. So I talked about that a bit in answer to him, then paid him back with a question about one of his fics (“The Lover From Out Of Space,” which proved to be an Invader Zim fanfic idea about the main characters of that show (Zim, Dib, and Gaz) helping the spawn of Yog-Sothoth, going by Daniel, round up a bunch of other “spawnlings” before chaos started happening, with Daniel and Gaz getting together along the way). So that was nice. :) Though I did choose my Song Saturday, a fucking blast from the past that I stumbled across on YouTube recently: “To Die For” by The Birthday Massacre! Fuck, I was so into that band when I was younger, and when I heard that song, I had The Nostalgia so hard, I had to feature it. I’m not quite done with the actual post, but it’s getting late, so I’ll have to wrap it up tomorrow.
Valice Multiverse – No activity over here, but my friend Weird Kev shared with me a post about a steampunk wonderland in France where visitors can ride various mechanical animals, so I went ahead and put that in the queue. Because why not. :)
Other: Got an unsolicited positive comment on “Start At The Beginning...Sort Of.” :) Just what I needed on the first day of my period making me cranky.
*nods* So that's all good. :) But I've already stayed up too late thanks to the distraction brain, so it's off to bed for me now. Night all!
