crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

Wasn't PERFECT by any means, but it was not oppressively humid today (which is always a plus), and I got pretty much everything I wanted to get done, done --

Work – Somewhat busier Monday back today than usual – I ended up having to do two GLs because the credit card people uploaded a bunch of stuff on Saturday for some reason; I found a potential double-charge that needs investigating; I looked at a bunch of credit card failures; and I worked on some exceptions, updating some pledges and payments that needed updating. *shrug* Nothing too strenuous (though it was often annoying), and it made the day go by. Just gotta get through Tuesday and Wednesday now!

As for beanbags, despite some spot showers earlier in the day, we did end up getting the chance to play – and today was all about me and Mom trading wins and losses while Dad stayed solidly in the middle. XD Though Mom did much better than I did in the end – final scores were me 3-W-3; Dad 2-2-2; Mom W-3-W. Still, I got one win, so I will definitely take that! We’ll see how things go tomorrow.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, and onto the next GrayStillPlays compilation on my list – “Exposing every way to make $1,000,000!” This compilation focuses on games that are ostensibly about making moolah – I have gotten through the first two videos, about two different “money runner” games (you know, the ones where you’re constantly running along a course and have to collect things – in this case money – getting multipliers and avoiding stuff that will reduce your stack in order to get the best multiplier and best stuff at the end), and am currently in the third, which is actually the FIRST video about the money runner game that opened up the compilation (aka, the videos showing Gray playing the game are out of order in the compilation for some reason). Clear as mud? :p But yeah, we’ll see what other videos got included in this set tomorrow – hopefully ones that are a bit easier for me to explain! XD

2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has reduced Jezebel to so much ash to be washed down the drain of her own rented tub; cleaned up herself and the apartment; and gotten out of the Empire Arms safely, narrowly avoiding discovery via noise complaint. Now it’s time for her to go and check in with the Anarchs and let them know what happened with Paul before heading back to her place! Slowly but surely approaching the end of this chapter!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – surprise two on Monday instead of on Tuesday –

A) First up was Josh Way and “RAW TAKE: Tuesday Review!” A review of a recent movie, Tuesday, that is apparently about a mother and her terminally ill daughter, and which the trailers paint as “magical realism” and a perhaps slightly-whimsical take on death, but which Josh said actually dives into the horror more often than you might think. He was VERY reluctant to say more than that, though, for fear of spoilers, so a lot of the “review” was him rambling about how he had so many thoughts that he couldn’t express because he didn’t want to ruin the movie, and assuring people that weird cinema did indeed still exist, you just have to go and look for it. Mostly at AMC movie theaters. :p But yeah, I guess that’s a cautious recommendation of Tuesday from him – just be aware that it is weirder and potentially scarier than it might look from the advertising!

B) And second up was GrayStillPlays and “Playing cat games but they get weirder every 5 minutes!” AKA Gray playing a variety of games focused around cats, the weirder the better. Gray got through five games in this 25 minutes video (though not every game got the exact five minutes suggested by the title), and ranked them according to his personal cat weirdness scale as so –

I. KleptoCats – This is a game where you are a schlub with an unfurnished apartment and a cat, and you can send that cat out to basically steal items to decorate your place and money to buy gems so you can eventually get an army of cats to steal things for you. In between thefts, you must keep up your chosen cat’s mood by petting it, feeding it, and washing it. Gray was a little amused by it, but didn’t consider it particularly weird, just a little larcenous. 5/10 weirdness

II. Fishing Food – This is a very self-aware mobile game about a cat who goes fishing in the “ocean” (which is next to a sidewalk), catches a talking burger, ends up feeding it more of its kind in exchange for money, has a nap and dreams of beating oil out of apples by slaying them with “I Voted” stickers, wakes up to find the ocean is full of oil, sucks the oil out of the water only to end up fat, squeezes all the fat into one eye in an attempt to still look cute so people will continue to play the game, and then continues catching food and feeding it more of its own kind. All while sprinkling awful puns into the dialogue. Gray was delighted by how bizarre it was, and the comments said that he had only scratched the surface and should do a video dedicated JUST to it. 8.5/10 weirdness

III. Talking Tom Cat – This is an atrocious mobile game with a tom cat that listens to what you say and then repeats it to you in a stupid AI voice. Also your attempts to pet the cat just end up beating him unconscious. Gray left this one in the dust quickly. 3/10 weirdness

IV. Weird Cat – This is a game that LOOKS like it’s going to be about cat-shaped aliens looking for some sort of box (it’s hard to tell because the dialogue was VERY poorly translated) – but then you end up in the apartment of some guy in a yellow furry costume, find a cat in the box the aliens lost, and then just start taking care of it – providing food, water, and a litter box, and doing your best to keep it happy. And if you do that well enough, you level up and can get other cats, like one with a box on its head. Gray found it more “realistic” than “weird” (and he should know, he has cats himself), but gave it back some points for the Google Translate mess at the beginning. 6/10 weirdness

V. Cat Simulator: Kitties Family – This is a game that purports to simulate what it is like to be a cat on a farm, but in practice plays like a cat-themed MMO. Seriously – you have quests to complete (like killing mice and spiders), enemies to fight (like hares and foxes), and NPCs to give stuff to in exchange for loot and power-ups (like the farmer, or a random goat on the farm). Gray was like “just replace the cat with a guy in tattered clothes with a rusty sword and this is every other MMO.” 2/10 weirdness

So yeah, weirdest was definitely the goofy self-aware nonsense of Fishing Food. Hopefully he does come back to it at a later date – I wouldn’t mind seeing more of it!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check-ish – I only had Victor Luvs Alice to worry about today, but it took me a while to catch up on my dash, so I wasn’t really able to finish off my Wednesday post (an update on my ideas for a Tiny Town Challenge in Sims 4) like I’d planned. I have completed the main text, though! Meaning tomorrow, all I gotta do is finish off the tags and get it in the queue.

I did reblog something tonight too – a poll asking just how screwed you’d be if you got sucked into the last fanfic you wrote, with answers ranging from “everything is awesome” to “killing myself to get out of this mess as soon as possible.” As my fanfics would put me in either 2004 World of Darkness L.A. around the time a plague cult is running around, or the sunless ghost-infested mess that is Duskwall, I went with the “it’d be – rough” option. XD Because, well, it would! AND I filled out a survey created by the people behind PolyShip Week to help shape future prompts, so that was nice. Looking forward to that popping up again in November. :)

Other: Answered three comments in my AO3 inbox, so that’s good. Nice when people have nice things to say about my fics. :)

*nods* Not too shabby. But now I have to get to bed so I get enough sleep before going back to work tomorrow. As you do. :p Night all!
