Reasonably Decent Thursday
Jul. 18th, 2024 11:41 pmWe had a brief but intense storm last night (rain just POURING down), and today -- well. By the afternoon it was LESS humid than it had been, but it was still pretty sticky, and still pretty hot. *grumbles* Maybe tomorrow will be better in that regard -- we shall see! In the meantime, the to-do list --
Work – You guessed it, another quiet day, though this one had a tiny bit more going on – my boss recapping his visit to our processing center (new people meant new problems there this year); somebody calling in with a credit card update; having to track down where a certain transaction was for Fiscal; and helping figure out a billing statement for my coworker. Oh, and struggling to complete one crossword before just breezing through most of another one. *shrug* Half-day tomorrow – we’ll see how it goes!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, and back with the second half of “I am trying the Every Life Stage Challenge! - Part 1” by James Turner! Semaj the aspiring Super Parent and Actor had a busy rest of his week, including:
A) FINALLY acing an audition, meaning at the end of the week he was able to complete his first gig dressing up as a pirate to sell Salty Suds laundry soap – he did exceedingly well, I am pleased to say, and earned just enough money to pay his bills
B) Got the funds to buy a bicycle and a cheap single bed from running around collecting stuff while waiting for his gig
C) Dealing with BERNICE Robles (not Denise, though I swear James called her that once...I probably just misheard, though) becoming a bit of a stalker after she finished her stayover at his place – constantly dropping by the house and calling him on the phone to ask him if he wanted to hang out or go on a date. Sorry, Bernice, but Semaj already has your science baby, so your role in this LP is now OVER. XD
D) Going on the hunt for a new baby partner at the new rec center James downloaded to replace the dog park in Brindleton Bay, and settling on Mei Prescott, the principal of Copperdale High – Semaj did some bold flirting when they first met, then invited her over after his gig for some fun romantic times (it WAS Love Day, after all!) They ended up trying for a baby in the shower (despite Bernice’s best attempts to butt in) – but, since Mei doesn’t live with Semaj, we’re not going to know if she’s pregnant until if and when she starts to show…
E) And, of course, taking care of Krystoff and getting up to Level 4 Parenting skill in the process – James, who had THOUGHT his self-Sim would level that skill a lot more slowly and thus had made it a rule that James had to get +2 Parenting skill with each baby, was like “I may have to tweak the rules a little bit here…” XD
So yeah – solid start to the series, with Semaj having one newborn and hopefully another on the way! We’ll see if he thinks to move Mei in just for the length of her pregnancy to make sure he gets the baby. XD
2. Continue the final posting edit of “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland” Chapter Two: Check – made it to the very top of page 31 out of 44 today, finishing up Alice explaining her history to Victor (including how she murdered Bumby after finding out what he was doing to his charges – Victor was like “good”) and then telling him about the plague ravaging the city, leading to them teaming up to try and question local ghoul Paul about it – then going to talk to his girlfriend Hannah when they found Paul dead in his apartment. Currently at the bit where Victor is taking advantage of Hannah thinking HE’S Paul to get some info out of her – tomorrow, we use my free time to wrap this up and get it posted!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – caught up with Josh Way and his movie reviews today –
A) “RAW TAKE: Maxxxine” – the second video from Monday that I didn’t get a chance to watch earlier, with Josh giving his thoughts on the latest splatter horror film to hit the silver screen (which is apparently the conclusion of a trilogy??? Color me surprised). His opinion was that it was good fun if you like that kind of slasher horror (the kills are over-the-top gory, no surprise there), and that it followed its thematic and narrative threads well, but he felt it was the weakest of the three as it didn’t have a clear conception of Maxine as a character. Like, is she a survivor at all costs, or does she have a conscience, or – that sort of thing. But if you like slasher movies with religious – tones (I’m not sure if they’re overtones or undertones, just that “shitty religion stuff” is a thing), you might want to check it out.
B) “SCREEN TIME: Thelma Review” – today’s offering, Josh giving his thoughts on a comedy about an elderly woman who gets scammed on the phone (the “someone pretending to be her grandson in trouble” scam, to be precise), and decides to get the money back herself after her relatives decide this is a sign that she might have to go into care. Josh thought it was an excellent romp – very funny, very thoughtful, and with very age-appropriate action scenes (like, having to walk across an area by herself without falling down and drawing attention). And it made him sentimental about the role of the elderly in our lives and how they often end up invisible through no fault of their own. He’s hoping this movie helps get more roles for older actors. As for me, this is one of the few movies he’s talked about that I’d be interested in seeing, since I do like a good comedy – we’ll see what happens!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Again, substitution – nothing for the queue for Victor Luvs Alice tonight (though I did reblog some McFly July fics – one about Marty reacting to the newspaper article where poor Otis Peabody ends up under observation at the county asylum after his experience with Marty the previous day, and Moose’s latest about George getting nervous signing things), and nothing happening on Valice Multiverse, so I concentrated on getting through the other half of Moose’s messages here. So THAT’S all set again for a little while!
*nods* Not bad, not bad. And now it is time to go to bed again, since I still have one half-day of work this week. Then three days off, yay~ Night all!
