Apart from the fact that I was alone for most of the day again, as Mom continues to spend most of her time at the hospital with Dad -- they had to clean out a small infection today, and apparently he had some real trouble sleeping last night, unfortunately. :( But he's still walking around and having his liquids and such, so that's something. Fingers crossed we're still on track for him to come home on Monday!

Anyway -- as stated, it was a pretty typical Cleaning Saturday for me --

Cleaning: Spent another morning cleaning not only my own room, but Swiffering under the dining table in the living room and vacuuming the kitchen since it really needed it – figured I might as well while I was doing my own shit! One less thing for Mom to worry about later. Anyway, took me about the usual amount of time, all told – started about 10:30 AM, finished up right before 1 PM and lunch. *nods* All set for another couple of weeks, yay~

Portal Reloaded: My trip through this game continues, with me tackling Chambers 16 through 19 today! The puzzles are getting harder, so walkthroughs were necessary for many of them – though I remembered solving Chamber 17 on my own the first time I encountered it, and I managed to do so again. :) I also came VERY close to solving Chamber 16 on my own – I had the basics down, but I couldn’t get the timing right the way I was doing it. And then I looked it up and found someone had found an easier way to do it, so I did that instead. XD Chambers 18 and 19 were just TOUGH, though – mostly because I get stuck on trying to use a specific way to reach things, without taking full advantage of my portals. *shakehead* Ah well – I’m up to Chamber 20 now, so just five more chambers to go before I reach the end!

Writing: Got almost two pages edited on “Start At The Beginning...Sort Of” today, with the gang having entered the mysterious house Victor spotted last time and started exploring! So far, they’ve found the wrecked remains of a dining room; a kitchen with a massive, rusted cauldron and a sink that spits out something that might ONCE have been water; a bathroom with an unsmashed toilet and a smashed bathroom; and a courtyard with a very stinky manhole cover in the corner. Victor was the one to investigate that last, and he was horrified by the smell – and even more horrified to hear from Alice and Smiler that “oh yeah, that kind of stink is just normal in poorer neighborhoods.” Smiler said that the Advocates have tried to petition Lord Governor Powerwallet to improve sanitation, which led Victor to ask if their parents were going to worry about them...and Smiler going, “No, they know I’m protected by Mar-Mal, given the visible blessing and all.” Which led to Victor and Alice having to admit that they never questioned if Smiler’s bright glowing yellow eyes were natural or not. XD I have left it off with Smiler getting ready to explain how they got them – going back to my normal schedule next week, so we’ll pick up with this on Thursday!

YouTube: Got in the new Usual Saturday Two AND a little bonus video, so that was nice –

A) Started off with a quick one right before my shower – “8 Things You Didn't Know About Servos In The Sims 4” by Petey Plays It! A short video about things you might not know about our favorite robot Sims. Some were fairly obvious (Servos are completely incapable of eating or drinking, with the options fully grayed out; Servos are immune to temperature, food-related, and emotion-related deaths (though the fact that they are also immune to burning to death was new information for me); Servos don’t leave ghosts if they DO die) a couple were fun and gameplay-related (Servos can be “bodyguards” with the Sim Defense Matrix behavior module, zapping Sims that might pester their creator; Servos cannot be bitten by vampires and have no scent when sniffed by a werewolf); and one was just plain bizarre – being that male Servos, if abducted by aliens, CAN become pregnant with an alien baby. Seriously (well, seriously when the video was made – it is a year old, so maybe this has been patched). I – was not expecting that. XD Thanks for the info, Petey!

B) Then, after supper, we had the GrayStillPlays video of the day – “Cars vs 100,000 ft drops!” Another GTA V torture board that saw Gray having to pit a selection of cars against a course that saw them dropping to their doom multiple times. Said drops included –

I. Mt. Chiliad Drop – Gray had to be yeeted through a bunch of plywood down the side of Mt. Chiliad, and had to knock a soccer ball sitting on one of the outcrops along the way to move the wall blocking the path to the rest of the challenge. Taking the drop wasn’t so much of a problem for most of the cars, but hitting that soccer ball WAS – Gray had to try multiple times with each car just to find the right spot where they would fall down in the right way to whack it!

II. Chop Chop Drop – Gray had to fall through a giant tube absolutely BRIMMING with Weebmill blades. Like, this thing was a BLENDER. And the blades were moving so fast and hit so hard that a lot of cars either got flung out or glitched out of the tube entirely while they were getting blended! Gray found that if he could hug the far side of the tube, he did a lot better, but not all of the cars could get there...

III. Mega Suction Tube Drop – Gray had to get sucked down a giant tube to hit a bunch of colorful hexagons on the roadway as hard as possible. Nothing too exciting, but this one could kill any car that had taken juuuust enough damage from the Chop Chop Drop, so it was still a very good run-killer.

IV. The Nose Dive Drop – Gray had to do a loop and then just wallride straight toward the ground toward a bullseye on the road. There were enough boosts that even the slowest car could make the loop – the problem here was staying properly aligned so that the car didn’t go flying off the wallride and into the sky. (Oh, and there was a Weebmill to dodge too, just because – that one sent him absolutely flying once. Thirteen flips as per one commenter.)

V. Happy Wheels Bouncy Wall Drop – Gray had to basically do the “bouncy walls” of a Happy Wheels spike fall – instead of getting skewered if he touched the walls, he instead got bounced off to the side and out of the course. So this one was also all about the alignment, just in a different way. Good thing Gray’s had all that practice with Segway Nixon and Pogo Guy!

So, which car won? Well, the Sprunk off-roader didn’t even survive the yeet down Mt. Chiliad; the cloth-top convertible and the cybertruck died to the Chop Chop Drop; the “Junk” racing car and the ultra-colorful Jeep took enough damage in the Chop Chop Drop that they couldn’t survive being sucked violently down the straw; and the armored turret vehicle and the banana sports car both made it to the loop – but the armored vehicle couldn’t stay in alignment, and the sports car made to the bullseye – but then turtled and wouldn’t let Gray back in the car for some reason. Meaning the winner –

Was the FUCKING SHERP. Mostly because this thing takes damage like a BOSS. Even the loop wasn’t a problem because of all of the boosts (and Gray suddenly realizing “oh hey, first person might help with keeping me in line”). So the Sherp is the car you want if you’re taking a sudden painful drop! Good to know, good to know.

C) And finally, we had Jon and “Fallout: London - Part 3 - A Dedicated Follower of Fashion!” Featuring the continuing adventures of Lady Aria in the wreckage of London as she sought to learn more about her past, get her various medical ailments cured, and find some halfway-decent clothes to wear because we can’t look scruffy in the post-apocalypse. Specifically, she –

I. Plunged into the depths of Thameshaven to find The Ferryman and stop the monsters invading the settlement through one of the tunnels – and I mean that literally, as Jon noticed the ladders down but ended up falling off one and into the rad-and-mittenlurk-infested waters. XD

II. Accidentally attacked The Ferryman’s pet monster Sushi while trying to save him from the leeches, then irradiated herself MORE by eating cooked leeches (because Jon, for some reason, thought the “Rads: 30” bit in the description of the food’s effects meant it might REDUCE rads. How long have you played Fallout games again sir?)

III. Did successfully rescue The Ferryman and blow up a support pillar in the tunnel where all the leechlings were coming from, saving Thameshaven and gaining access to its market! This led her back to Rachel, who told her she’d gotten the plans for the secret lab from a human kid named Archie who lived in the settlement for a time, but left before too many people could make a thing about a human living among the fish-folk. Aria then learned from The Ferryman that he’d met Archie when the kid was being pursed by some strange soldiers (incredibly fast, but with expressions indicating they didn’t care if they caught Archie or not – Jon was like “robots?”), and eventually taken him to another Thamesfolk settlement north of Thameshaven, by a crashed airplane in Rotherhithe. The Ferryman also let her know the Thamesfolk up there were apparently dealing with their OWN infestation problems, and that it was becoming an issue with multiple of their settlements – he’s hoping it’s just coincidence, but… (Jon is of the opinion it’s either deliberate sabotage or someone stirring up shit looking underground for something.)

IV. Did a round of the market, selling things to the gunsmith, Ahab, to buy herself a cheap sniper rifle and get some tickets to afford having her rads scrubbed by the local doctor; finding young artist Margery and taking on a little side quest to get a specific painting, The Cerulean Meadows, for her from the National Gallery should she pass by; and coming across Ellen Lane, who recently lost a lot of weight and wanted some new, fancy human clothes from a launderette in Greenwich (since she didn’t want Aria stealing them off others). Aria was only too happy to agree to that last request, as it was nearby AND gave her the opportunity to find some new duds for herself because fashion is important in the post-apocalypse damn it.

V. Found a Cutethulhu creepy doll and picked it up – and found it oddly heavy, picking up a sidequest to investigate them further, which Jon was less-than-happy about given he is not a fan of creepy dolls

VI. Made her way over to Greenwich via a bridge over the Thames, fighting her way past Hooligans, mongrels, and various bugs (and investigating a strange locked area, only to find a very grody feral ghoul inside), before coming across a dry-docked boat by an old naval museum, the Cutty Sark, with a gang called the “Jack Tar” on it in naval uniforms. Aria immediately went “I want their hats” and started firing on them with her new sniper before having to flee in a hail of gunfire XD

VII. Found the launderette and discovered it was infested with feral ghouls (all of which were the classic “look like they’re genuinely rotting” kind), and had to hold them off with her blade stick and her dog while she waited for Ellen’s new duds to finish getting washed up in the washing machine (which apparently also dried them...or maybe a fish-person doesn’t mind having wet clothes)

VIII. Went back to waging war on the Jack Tar in their boat in an effort to score herself the best hats – she SOMEHOW actually managed to win this battle thanks to a lot of careful running around and sneak attacks with her sniper and her blade stick. She also found a secret sort-of-Vault under the gift shop nearby (the former home of some drug dealers who were using the tourist trap as a front to keep the cops off their tails), along with some tunnels that served as a back entrance to the Cutty Sark’s dry dock, so that was interesting. Main scores from the trip, however, were a musket pistol that fires lead balls, and THREE fancy naval hats, with Jon deciding he liked the look of the traditional tricorn on Aria best. XD Not a fan of the uniform, though, mostly because he couldn’t put any proper armor over it, so she’s wearing her tricorn with a “Greaser Jacket and Jeans.” XD Fashion!

IX. And finally headed back to Thameshaven to give Ellen her new clean clothes (a sweater vest and skirt), and got a bunch of meds in return, including three Rad-Aways, nice! So doing that quest was TOTALLY worth.

So yeah – Lady Aria is definitely finding her place in this world! And next week, we’ll see her keep heading after Archie so she can learn more about her mysterious origins and clear up the last of the afflictions (I believe the one reducing the damage she deals – the Thameshaven doctor cleared up the one affecting the damage she takes when she first spoke to him). Hopefully it goes well, though this may be one of those cases where finding this kid is gonna be a perpetual chase for a while…

And I was going to say "didn't really get to tumblr today," but two asks have suddenly appeared in the Valice Multiverse inbox (one asking Victor if he ever had long hair as a kid, the other talking about trying to explain the Obama era to Gen Z), so I'd better get those queued up for tomorrow on that account. Moose, I did see your latest McFly July fic over on Victor Luvs Alice -- I'll reblog it tomorrow, promise! Got a decent amount of catching up to do there anyway...

All right, let's wrap this up so I can get to those asks, then spend a little more time on TV Tropes before heading to bed. Tomorrow is Fallout Sunday, as per usual -- plans include catching up on my Victor Luvs Alice account and getting some more drafting done; playing Fallout 4 and starting The Great Trek To The Mechanist; updating the Playthrough Progression appropriately; getting in a workout; and keeping up with Gray and Jon. All achievable goals, I hope. Night all, and keep your fingers crossed for Dad!
