Pretty Meh Monday

crossover_chickHad a bit of a tough time getting to sleep last night, and then -- well, the "work" section of the to-do list should give you enough of an idea --
Work – Not a great Monday back – while I spent most of the day on roster maintenance, I also had one credit card update in the morning which took longer than I wanted because I had to do it the annoying work-around way instead of the normal way. *sigh* Not to mention, there was some sort of flyover by a division of the Italian Air Force today (trailing smoke the color of the Italian flag, they were doing some sort of show in Newport), and I swear to you that the noise from them passing over us doing their thing was so loud that I was genuinely terrified for a moment that a plane was going to hit the building. Add in that we had thunderstorms this afternoon that resulted in me having a fairly lousy commute (including having to drive on the highway in absolutely POURING rain), and – yeah. This wasn’t a fantastic way to start the last week of August!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the GrayStillPlays compilation “100 Ways to Destroy the Planet!” I finished off the “make earth hotter” Universe Sandbox 2 video (which naturally resulted in Earth turning all the pretty Super Saiyan colors before flying apart); got through the entirety of another Solar Smash video (which saw Gray trying to create flat planets for people to live on with the help of Dollar Store Cthulhu and killing his FPS in the process); and made it through most of the “keep adding carbon dioxide to the oceans” US2 video (which saw the Earth both get much hotter AND ice over before transforming into a gas giant). Looking forward to seeing both the end of that and what else is on the docket tomorrow!
2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has agreed to talk to Fat Larry’s girl Venus Dare about a job she has that needs doing, and thus has just entered Confession! That gorgeous nightclub that unfortunately suffers from having the world’s slowest and stupidest turnstile in the front entrance. Alice was displeased, as you might imagine. XD But she made it into the club regardless – and has just been hailed by a mysterious woman… We’ll see what her deal is tomorrow!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just the one GrayStillPlays video tonight: “When you crack the Earth open,” aka Gray plays To The Core! This is a game where you bounce a faux-eight-bit spaceship against faux-eight-bit planets (well, I say that, the thing Gray was smacking his ship against was very weirdly shaped) in order to mine their precious resources, such as iron, silicon, and aluminum. Your health bar is your fuel bar, and once you run out, you explode. And then you head to the shop to sell your accumulated resources and buy upgrades, such as a better drill for more damage, armor for your bouncy ship so you don’t blow up so quickly, and of course a bigger fuel tank so you can destroy more of the planet for longer. And then you get back to it. XD The ultimate goal is in the title – get to the core and smack it around to unlock a prestige planet and get loads of boosts! Gray, as you might imagine, thoroughly enjoyed bouncing against his starting planetary body, gathering resources and converting them into upgrades to do more damage and cause more chaos inside the unfortunate space rock. And he ESPECIALLY enjoyed going into the game files to edit them to give himself all the money to unlock as many upgrades on the upgrade trees as humanly possible, allowing him to take on and destroy THE FUCKING SUN. XD Oh dear – you know, I accused him in my comment of being behind the cataclysm that destroyed the sun in Blades In The Dark, but honestly, if he had been, there would be no one left alive in Duskwall. Gray does not do things by halves, after all!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – Monday meant I was just hanging out on Victor Luvs Alice tonight, and I got a few key things done –
A) Finished off my post on my Ministry of Joy build for Wednesday, cleaning up the main text and adding the tags. So I’m all set for THAT portion of my queue!
B) Reblogged some stuff, including:
I. A post about a browser extension for AO3 that will put a floating comment box over a story so you can write your comment as you go and easily quote from the fic, then send it all to the proper AO3 comment box at the bottom once you’re done. I used a script rather like this a while back to make commenting easier, but for some reason it stopped working for me, so I’m glad to see a replacement!
II. A post that was literally just “WRITE IT!!! WRITE THAT SELF INDULGENT SHIT!!!” because, well, that’s what I do
III. A meme post about writing fics that are “irrelevant to anybody else’s interests,” which – yeah, that’s also a mood around here lately
IV. And Moose’s latest McFly July fic, featuring a teenage Strickland on the last day of high school being, well, very Strickland-y. That is, judging all of his classmates for playing hooky and preparing to deliver their names to the principal’s secretary at lunch. XD Fun stuff!
So -- yeah. Not a great day at work, but at least I'm keeping up with all my usual afternoon/evening nonsense. And now it is time to head to bed, and hope Tuesday doesn't give me any moments of pure existential terror. Night all.
