My room has shrunk
Sep. 30th, 2004 12:20 pmIt wasn't that big to begin with, and now with the computer desk and computer in the room. . . .
-D: I thought you'd be happy to have a computer in your room.-
Oh, I am, I am, I just didn't think about how much space it would take up! Well, I really don't need all that much space, I guess. And the 'puter's right next to my BTTF bookcase shelf. :D
-M: So you get to look at Doc all the time now.-
Exactly. It took us a few days to set the whole system up -- Dad bought a wireless router so I can get the web up here without another cable line. I'll be deleting his old account later. This thing used to be the family computer, and now it's mine! Too bad moving prevented me from any Simsing -- do that later too.
-D: *looking thoughtful* That means your family is currently in possession of three working computers.-
Yeah, and a fourth we're not using. For people who don't like technology, my parents are eager computer buyers! :p And our systems have gone to mix and match.
-VJ: Well, I know you traded out your old Vaio monitor for this big Samsung one. What else?-
Okay, we have four computers: The Sony Vaio, The Compaq Presario (this thing is ancient by computer standards -- Windows 3.1!), The New Compaq (I don't know its model), and The Hewlett-Packard. And each computer has four parts -- monitor, CPU tower, mouse, and keyboard. Along the line, things were switched around. (We also bought a new mouse for the Vaio, but I'm talking merely about switching components here.)
The Packard's monitor broke, so it was replaced for a time with the Presario's monitor. Now here's the current situation:
My computer, the Vaio, has all Vaio parts except for the monitor, which came from the New Compaq.
The Hewlett-Packard, my Mom and Dad's main business computer, has the HP tower, the New Compaq keyboard, the New Compaq mouse, and the Vaio monitor.
The New Compaq, the latest business computer and currently in disuse, has the New Compaq tower, the Hewlett-Packard keyboard, the Hewlett-Packard mouse (I'm pretty sure) and the Presario monitor.
The Presario, basically too old for us now, has all its own parts except for the monitor -- since we had to discard the Hewlett-Packard one, we need it for the New Compaq.
Confused yet?
-M: *blinku, reads it again* I think I get it -- almost all of the computers have parts from another one.-
Exactly.
Okay, I need lunch.
