An interesting con about Sims 2

WHAT ON DOC'S GREEN EARTH IS UP WITH THE PICTURE NAMING?!
It's gotten so weird I'm wondering if there's a way to permanently set the setting for seeing pictures to "thumbnails." I can't tell which one they are otherwise.
Here's the deal: In the Sims 1, the pictures for the photo album appeared like this when you went to look at them (like I would for putting them on my website) -- Brown_3_0001. Brown was the family name. The four-digit number indicated what number picture it was, starting with the first as 0000. I'm not sure what the middle number was. Nice and straightforward. There was also a separate photo album for each neighborhood.
But now, in the Sims 2, we have something like this: snapshot_0d197b18_4h8a7bd5. The only hint you get is that, generally, a family has the same sort of beginning code for all it's pictures. But the program doesn't necessarily have them in order for you. And every picture goes into the same folder, the Storytelling one. *grr* Give back the old good version!

In other Sims news, I've become part of The Sims Fanlisting. I thought it was about time. I also saw a Nightcrawler fanlisting around here, so I'll probably join that as well. :)

You make up a subject

Anyway, played both the Clayton House and the Brown House. Sunday at the Claytons, Jennifer had Cho over (I cannot for the life of me spell the guy's first name) in an attempt to be friends. She didn't quite get there, but I think maybe next time. . . . Lorraine and Clara both got promoted -- Lorraine became a Waitress, while Clara made Field Researcher. Lorraine also got a call from her pal Pollination Tech. I used up some rewards points and got them a Money Tree and a Thinking Cap. Monday, Lorraine took advantage of a free morning to head to Lot 88 Road to Nowhere and pick up some groceries. I also had her try to fulfill wants to learn how to make hot dogs and hamburgers. She ruined the hamburgers, but did fine on the hot dogs. That morning, I also got my most annoying moment from a Sim to date. Clara had two wants -- eat Toaster Pastries, and Learn how to make Toaster Pastries. Easy enough, I'd have her grab the stuff and satisfy both wants fast. So I sent her to the fridge and had her grab a pan for making toaster pastries. She puts it on the counter, prepares to cook -- then turns and yells unintelligibly at me.
-M: Of course she's unintelligble. She's speaking Simlish.-
No, I couldn't understand her thought bubble either. She just wouldn't make the pastries. And I have no idea what was wrong -- both Lorraine and Jennifer could cook fine. Clara just refused. *snarl*
-D: SimClara, you're only making her hate you more. *blinku* Great, she's got us talking to the computer.-
hehehehe. Well, whatever. Jennifer came home with another A+ and decided to have Marty over. Marty wanted to bring a friend, and I immediately said yes in the hopes it would be George. Nope -- it's Crystal. *frown* Marty doesn't even know Crystal that well. However, I like to think it was Sim justice for me. For as Marty and Jennifer were kissing and appreciating and holding hands, Crystal busied herself insulting and annoying Clara. I figured that was enough to let Clara know she is very capable of cooking herself a meal and let her dismiss Crystal. Jennifer and Marty were all mushy with each other. Lorraine got another promotion, to Prep Cook. Clara called Doc over, and had some nice interactions with him. He even told her a dirty joke.
-D: *suspicious* You don't know which one you want me to fall in love with, do you?-
I'm leaving my options open until you befriend all the girls. Then SimYou can pick.
Speaking of SimYou, the Brown's Sunday was similiarly successful. Marty made a new friend, David Gibbons, through the use of the chess board. Doc's rapidly gaining skills, which is good for his Knowledge aspiration. George came home with a promotion to Scholar. Marty asked George for permission to go out with Jennifer, George granted it, Marty headed out at 8 and didn't come back until midnight, exhausted but happy. We bought a second Thinking Cap and had George use it to get another Logic point. Doc upped Mechanical and Charisma, then I let him use the Energizer so he could work through the morning. I left him still working on Charisma.

Yup. Tomorrow, after talking with Walden's and submitting my application to the grocery store, I'll move in J.C. and Adelaide. I think I'll make an original guy too, just to even out the genders. I've got three female familes to one male one.
