crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (feeling sparky/creative)
-VD: Still calling the August challenge the "August Challenge," are we?-
I can't think of a title! Somebody help me think of a title! The plot's centered around Doc's feelings when Marty gets shot, up to where he and Marty ride off to catch the train. So it starts off on the angsty side, then becomes more upbeat.
-DW: *sniffs plotbunnies* No titles. I don't think you've had this much trouble since -- which came second, "World of Darkness" or "The Abominable Doc Brown?"-
"Abominable Doc" was second. Maybe I should troll the Horror Move Survival Guide again?
-TD: *shrug* Whatever helps. . . .-
-VD2: In the meantime, what are you working on?-
Got the page of "The Gift and the Curse" done -- a neat little discussion on time travel I think you'll all enjoy --
-OD: *tentacles chatter, interested* Really?-
Yeah -- I worked in Jennifer wanting to see her future house, and it somehow got turned into a rather simplified discussion of BTTF paradox theory. I go with "memory change" myself, with the allowing of doubles for extreme alternate realities.
-VD2: Well, obviously. Though, now that you're older and have seen more of these debates, do you really think we exist?-
I'm not sure. I kind of like the idea that 1985-A split itself off from the regular timeline, but I can see other arguments too. I'd have to ask the Bobs and see what they'd think.
-VM: *slightly evilgrin* Wouldn't it be funny if one said, "Sure, there'd be doubles," and the other said, "No, Doc and Marty would eventually become their other selves."-
LOL, I don't think they'd differ THAT much. *lightbulb* Does the commentary say anything about that. I haven't watched BTTF II with commentary in forever. And I never did get around to watching BTTF III with commentary.
*pause*
Boys, up for a movie marathon this weekend?
-TD: As long as your parents don't hog the TV with more 24!-
Seriously, I don't know why they keep watching. They hate the show. They tell me that every time I go down there.
-H: I think it's called Train Wreck Syndrome, isn't it?-
Could be. So yeah, we'll watch all three BTTFs with the Bob and Neil commentary tracks. I also have to remember to call up Barnes and Noble and see if they have any of the Narbonic volumes.
-TD: So we have another mad science strip that owns your soul?-
Narbonic is as cool as Girl Genius! My kingdom for a proper crossover! Hell, Shaenon's got a Victorian AU going along -- go out with a bang, girl, have Gil and Agatha cameo!
-D: Wouldn't she need permission from the Foglios?-
Yes, but that wouldn't be hard to get -- they're friendly. Hell, I got introduced to Narbonic through Kaja's LJ. You know the Fan Fiction mini-story? Shaenon wrote that. And Phil illustrated a story for the latest volume of Narbonic.
-VD: And your reasons for wanting the volumes become clearer.-
Hey, I'm just saying. . . .
Aaanyway, progress. Page of "Gift and Curse," and I'm working on further "V.D." revisons.
-VD: All right. How about posting the first chapter of "V.D." on your website?-
Let me just work up a quick "Holder" page, so I can easily link to all the chapters separately. Should make up one for "Boy Genius" too.
-TD: *nodnod* Would be a good idea.-
:) And yes, I plan to work on the sprites a bit more after I get off the computer -- mainly, straightening out the butterfly wings.
-OD: *Verne nodnods* Yes, they could use it.-
Why can I only draw ONE good butterfly wing?
-RPD: No Sims today, I see.-
I need the occasional break period. Tomorrow it's back to Hill Valley, and perhaps laying out the community lots for the college. I do have my Tesla Coil (gotta unzip that), and I downloaded a bit of new stuff from Genensims -- the red fox recolor of the cat tail, and a lizard skin I plan to use as a plant skin for ConstructMarty.
-M2: O.o Plant skin?-
It doesn't look really that scaley, I think it could pass. Blame the idea on LadyKayoss and her "Thorns of the Dark Rose" story. The idea of plant/human hybrid intrigued me.
-M: Well, it is a Mad Scientist neighborhood. . . .-
Yeah, I've got this idea of Doc being puzzled as to why he's been instructed to WATER his toddler. . . . LittleSimYou is gonna get lots of baths and have a nursery with tons of windows.
-D: This will be interesting. What about Emma?-
She'll run through college, and I'll find her a nice townie match. I'm planning on two kids right now. The boys' names are Gilgamesh and Dave, the girls' Agatha and Helen.
-J: Natch.-
Yup. :) I like having this neighborhood around! It's gonna be fun to do a challenge! Just gotta get a printout of my own rules. . . .
Back to work now! But first a drink.
