Reasonable Thursday
Sep. 12th, 2024 11:52 pmI mean, I'm dealing with the period doldrums, so it wasn't GREAT, but I've had much worse Thursdays too. Your to-do list update --
Work – Well, there was no major commute fuckery today, so that at least was a win. The workday itself consisted of me doing all those reversals I tracked down the other day, then doing a bunch of roster maintenance stuff while trying not to listen to my coworkers yap about nonsense. Basically, an entirely typical Thursday. *shrug* At least tomorrow’s Friday!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – I hopped back on the bike, and after some consideration, chose to watch “I Reached The Top Of The Secret Society | Super Sim Series 12” by Petey Plays It! The latest in his Super Sim series, this episode saw Tina head back to Foxbury after the world’s briefest stint in Willow Creek with the aim of getting a Computer Science degree (as she was doing a lot of computer stuff) and getting into that mysterious secret society she discovered at the end of her last term. How’d that go for her? Well, it was a slightly mixed bag. On the positive side –
A) She did indeed complete her Computer Science degree (distinguished with honors, of course), staying in her usual house with her new bestie Dylan (along with werewolf Stephanie)
B) She also completed the Computer Whiz aspiration, making a mobile app while in college and then joining the Tech Guru career in the “Start Up Entrepreneur” branch at level 8 once she’d gotten her degree (plus made a little progress on the Bestselling Author aspiration by writing a new guidebook to comedy – though she has yet to publish it...)
C) As per the title, she not only got accepted into the Secret Society (the Order of Enchantment, as it is properly known), she maxed out her rank very quickly by pestering all her fellow members with questions about the magical sprites and handing over loads of fancy crystals and metals to gain their blessings
D) And she completed the axolotl collection, finally managing to breed the final one she needed! Though they’re all still living in her inventory for now, thanks to that weird “collections reset if they’re not in your inventory” bug related to university students. Still, it’s ready to go once she’s done earning degrees!
On the NEGATIVE side –
E) She broke up Nancy and Geoffrey’s marriage to “punish” Geoffrey for being a wealthy weirdo who tried to ask her out to the love hotel last episode – mostly by flirting with Geoffrey until he agreed to leave his wife. No thought for how this would affect poor Malcolm at all! (Though it did at least help her progress in the Villainous Valentine aspiration.)
F) She pushed herself a little too hard in making that mobile app for her aspiration and ended up with a dislike of Programming, ouch. Fortunately completing the app maxed out the skill, and I don’t know if it’s central to any of the other aspirations, so she shouldn’t need to do it again anytime soon!
G) While investigating rumors of magic in Glimmerbrook (as told to her by her Order of Enchantment friends), she found an adorable house (built by Petey) that she absolutely HAD to have – but earning the money to buy it proved a little rough. Namely, she kept entering video game tournaments for $100 a pop and then not even placing. She ended up relying on selling spare crystals and metals to the Simsonian Museum and asking randos over in Willow Creek for loans to fund the purchase, and it left her pretty broke – hence immediately getting into the Tech Guru career!
H) And when she finished off the Computer Whiz aspiration and got the “Webmaster” reward trait, she did a little internet stalking of her boyfriend Sergio...and discovered that he was apparently just using her to help climb the corporate ladder (as he was also in the Tech Guru career). She confronted him, they had a fight, and they broke up, with Tina deciding she was “Noncommital” in the process (Tina, I think we already knew that XD). Again, good for the Villainous Valentine aspiration, bad for Tina’s mood and love life.
So, you know, life continues to have its ups and downs for her. But things should be getting interesting soon, as the episode ended with Tina finding the portal to the Magic Realm and stepping through...time to get her Spellcaster on, methinks! Looking forward to it. :)
2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland” Chapter 3: Check – Alice has safely left the Empire Arms Hotel (chatting with Wonderland about everything she needs to do these nights) and made it back to Venus’s to explain her “let’s fake your death and screw Boris out of a thousand bucks in addition to killing him” plan! Venus is, as you might expect, on board with this. XD Tomorrow we head back to the penthouse suite so they can put that plan into action! Should be a good time.
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check plus – just Josh tonight (not even a GSP compilation), so I was able to get something out of the Watch Later too –
A) First up, we had the OXtra list of the week – “7 Disappointing Collectors Editions You'd Definitely Want a Refund For!” Jane and Ellen going through those collector’s editions of games that were NOT worth what people paid for them. From the horrendously painted “Geralt fighting a griffin” statue from The Witcher III Wild Hunt collector’s edition (making it look like Geralt’s eyes had been gouged out), to the infamous debacle of the Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition nylon bags (which were FINALLY replaced by the promised canvas ones after months of player outrage), to the Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition that never happened because Warner Brothers wasn’t happy with how the promised transforming Batmobile statues had come out (granted, in this case I believe those affected didn’t actually have to pay anything, but given the news only came out FIVE DAYS before the release of the game, it still sucked), these games show that going for the Collector’s Edition may not be worth the cash. *shakehead* Why I’m generally happy to avoid such things! Well, that and they are FREAKING EXPENSIVE, damn…
B) And second, we had the Josh Way video of the day – “RAW TAKE: Slingshot Review!” Slingshot being a sci-fi drama about three astronauts on their way to Titan to look for resources for the dying earth, and them experiencing deteriorating mental states along the way because they have to keep coming out of, then going into, cryosleep along the way. I THINK it might edge toward being a psychological horror, I’m not sure – Josh, as usual, was vague as fuck to avoid spoilers. *shrug* Anyway, his thoughts consisted basically of “good cast, I like the general vibe, but the execution fell flat – the story is too familiar, and they did two out of the three things I thought they definitely would NOT do because why would they. It’s not a disaster, but stream it if you must see it, don’t go to the theater.” So keep that in mind if this seems like the kind of movie you’d like!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check again –
Victor Luvs Alice – Nothing actually to do here for the remaining days of the week, but I did get a little bit of a start on getting the pictures sorted for the next Chill Valicer Save update (Marm’s first day with the others at the store) – only managed the first ten, but it’s better than nothing! We’ll see if I can get the rest done tomorrow.
Valice Multiverse – One reblog from Toonsisters on her ask about if Secundus!Victor has met Willy Wonka for the queue tonight – though judging from her ask, she was talking about meeting a Depp!Wonka (who is, for some reason, dating Jack Sparrow), which made Victor a bit confused as he’s never heard anything about the Secundus Wonka (who I don’t believe I’ve ever brought on screen, but who would probably lean more toward Wilder if he appeared) having a relationship. We’ll see where this goes should the thread continue!
*shrug* Nothing particularly new or exciting to report, as you can see. But we continue onward! And now I should see about getting to bed so I can get some sleep. Night all!
