Even More Tired Thursday
Sep. 19th, 2024 11:55 pmFor a very good reason, as you will see in the work section --
Work – Had a bit of a frazzled day at work, though it was all self-inflicted – my boss had a question for me on a gift that I’d previously had to fix because our processors put it in the wrong place at first this morning, and that led me to decide to try and find all the remaining gifts that might need to be moved. A process that ended up taking up pretty much my entire damn day as there were a LOT more of them than I’d previously anticipated! O.o So yeah, got a lot of things to fix tomorrow after doing the GL. *wince* That’ll be fun. At least it’s Friday!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, returning to James Turner to watch his latest – “Building with the huge new game update!” This referred to the patch we got yesterday, which – among other things – added in a few new archways and such and a bunch of new color swatches to various objects in the game. Including a good number of pink options, so James decided he was going to build a house that was as pink as possible. XD He started in San Sequoia with a faux-Craftsman-style house, but quickly decided “you know what, let’s make this a base-game build, as the update pretty much affected all base game stuff” and moved to what I presume was Newcrest to finish it. And he did indeed succeed in making a very pink house – though he did have a little trouble matching his pinks (he was trying to go for cute pastel pink, but some items only came in bolder or brighter swatches – the couch and chair in the living room notably looked more purple to me than anything else), and the style of the furniture to the style of the home (namely, a lot of pink items were more modern than he wanted to use in a semi-Craftsman house). Plus some things just did not come in pink, or did not have a good pink swatch, so he ended up using a lot of white accents and some dark woods in the bathroom and the kitchen. *shrug* What can you do? It still turned out extremely pink, and honestly quite nice – interior was a little cramped, admittedly, but you could fit a family of three into there, no problem. And it had a nice hot tube outside, along with a pond and pink monkey bars. :) Though, hilariously, at the very end of the video he talked about how he was trying to build a PURPLE house in the latest episode of his Tiny Town Challenge, and how he got annoyed at how many items had pink swatches, not purple. Then started calling for more purple swatches in the game. Which, hey, I am TOTALLY for – you guys know how much I love purple. (Personally, though, I will be happy if a bunch of stuff got new good YELLOW swatches, as I always seem to need yellow stuff thanks to a certain Sim of mine...)
2. Work on my Valicer In The Dark stuff: Partial check – I got a little caught up in indecision regarding what I actually wanted to do (try and get a PDF reader so I could get the character sheets sorted? Work on worldbuilding? Sketch out how the next story is going to go?), so I ended up getting to this late, meaning I didn’t have much time to mess around with anything. But I did update the entry on Lord Rowan a little (confirming that the ELDER Rowan mentioned in the book as part of the Church Of The Ecstasy Of The Flesh is his father) – and, more significantly, I started editing “Blessing,” the short scene I wrote about the morning Smiler woke up with those glowing yellow eyes. Updating the opening proved to be a bit tricky, but I persevered and managed to get just over 400 words edited of Smiler waking up, trying to figure out why they’re so groggy this morning despite feeling good, half-remembering what they thought was a dream about their marmalisation, then heading to the bathroom and getting a shock upon catching sight of their face in the mirror. XD Might just keep working on this for a bit to get myself back in the groove, then see about getting the next story going!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Substitution check – as the only thing in my Subs was the latest GSP compilation video (cars versus layers), I instead got another video out of my Watch Later – “The Sims 4: 50 BASE GAME FEATURES You Might Not Know!” by onlyabidoang! To celebrate the base game of The Sims 4 being ten years old (yes, I KNOW), Abi decided to go over a bunch of little things in said base game that you might not know about – or that you probably DO know about, but they’re base game features, so he felt obligated to include them anyway (hello Sylvan Glade and Forgotten Grotto!). Some particularly interesting features included cowplants dancing if you put a stereo by them (I’m going to have to try that with Toothy at some point in my Chill Valicer Save); moonbathing giving your Sim specific moodlets depending on the phase of the moon (for example, new moons make Sims inspired, full moons make Sims flirty); being able to change the shape of puddles in build mode (including making them look like a rubber duck!); being able to use death flowers to create the Shadow Realm drink and use it to keep the Grim Reaper from claiming your soul (he’ll go to the drink, take a sip, then revive the dead Sim); being able to set screenshots as “memories” for Sims to contemplate to get into the same emotional state as the Sim was feeling in the screenshot (yes, really, I don’t think ANYONE remembers this is a thing, hilariously); being able to pee in the pool if your Sim has low bladder need while swimming (at the expense of making all other swimmers uncomfortable); and being able to “Watch Space Woohoo” if a fellow Sim on the lot has gone to space to get it on (though, sadly, you don’t get a buff from it). XD Oh, and Abi took the opportunity to mention that he’d gathered up all the objects from Sims Sessions (remember that? It was the music festival event they did in-game a while back) and put them in a room so Sims could use them, including the tents, the t-shirt and food stalls, and even the stage – though you need mods that activate certain debug cheats to recreate the music festival itself! But still, good to know. :) All very fun stuff, and I even learned a thing or two about the game! Thanks Abi!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –
Victor Luvs Alice – Figured out Song Saturday for this week – mostly by going through some of the older entries in my tag and stumbling across OK Go’s famous “Rube Goldberg machine” music video for their song “This Too Shall Pass,” realizing I’d never reblogged it, and deciding “hell, it’s a fun video and a fun song, let’s go for it.” XD So THAT’S all set now, at least!
Valice Multiverse – Had one ask from Toonsisters today, with her comparing Alice and Victor to Elric (I believe she means Edward Elric – she admitted she couldn’t remember the names fully, as it had been a while since she watched the anime) and Alfred from Full Metal Alchemist – namely, by noting Alice was short but still able to kick ass, and Victor was tall and potentially intimidating but a real sweetheart. The Cuddlepile version of the characters were pleased with the comparisons (even if Victor didn’t think he could EVER be intimidating XD). So that’s all sorted!
Yeah, uh, I'm blaming my brain not doing well vis-a-vis the writing thing on being a little fried after going though so many transactions at work. I mean, it made the day go by, but damn. *shakehead* And now I have to go to bed and try and get some sleep so I can be prepared to do much the same tomorrow, eep. But again, at least it is Friday. *nods* Night all!
