Good News Friday
Sep. 20th, 2024 11:50 pmOtherwise known as "A Positive Health Update For My Family, For Once" -- Dad went to the doctor again today, and they pronounced him Officially Cancer-Free! :D Yeah, apparently all the Stage 2 colon cancer came out with the blockage when they did the surgery back in August. So he is good to go, at least on THAT front! We are all extremely relieved. :D About time we had something NICE happen again, I swear! We celebrated a bit with homemade hot fudge sundaes after Yahtzee (I won the first game, Mom won the middle two games -- with a Yahtzee each! -- and Dad won the last game), which were very nice. :) Now all we have to do is hope he continues recovering well from the surgery!
As for the rest of my day --
Work – Eh, decent enough Friday – I spent the morning getting the GL done and getting all those transactions that needed to be reversed, reversed, then did a couple more reversals and took a couple more credit card calls in the afternoon, along with a tiny bit of roster maintenance. All while listening to my coworkers complain about the roster maintenance THEY were doing. *shakehead* But I’m free of them for the next four days, hooray! I will enjoy it to the best of my ability.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – final day on the bike this week, pedaling my way through –
A) “Grian vs. Buttons!” and “Grian vs Buttons! (PART 2!!!)” by BlueFireClips! Two videos my friend Squid linked me to last night, featuring Grian the Hermitcrafter (he and a bunch of friends do a Minecraft series in a shared server) and his obsession with buttons! (And levers, and things that may explode in a beautiful and interesting manner. XD) This is a dude who will press any button he comes across, even if it kills him – and it has, on occasion. XD He also has a penchant for fucking around with the buttons and levers on his friends’ redstone machines and mucking them up, and pressing buttons in a game where doing so kills you and making all of his friends really annoyed because he won’t let them complete the level (to the point where one person actually went offline rather than deal with his shenanigans). Though I think my favorite clip was him mucking around with a couple of friends’ machine (pressing buttons), and then jamming it up by throwing a potato into it. And then trying to pretend he hadn’t thrown a potato into it when his friends came back and noticed that the machine was in a “failure” state. XD Very silly stuff, but fun.
B) And a pair of very short Severance clips – “Severance scenes: Mark and Helly flirting” by good old Artes (featuring Mark getting all smiley over Helly being sarcastic and Dylan and Irving being like “you never smile at US like that”) and a rewatch of “Severance (2022) - I'll Never Leave Here (CLIP)” by Down And Nerdy Podcast (the “Do I have a family?” “You’ll never know” exchange always hits me hard). Good for finishing up the workout without going over time!
2. Work on my Valicer In The Dark stuff: Check – a slightly slow start, but I got a good chunk edited on “Blessing” Tonight! Featuring Smiler trying to figure out where their new yellow eyes came from (including me borrowing “cheese and crust,” apparently an old Victorian minced oath for “Jesus Christ,” as a Duskwallian slang/swear for when they realized they were glowing – I wanted something other than “holy shit”), before heading to the breakfast table and startling their parents with them...only for said parents to then envelop them in a big old hug. :) We’ll finish this off by having Matt and Carol explain that the eyes are the sign of a blessing from Mar-Mal tomorrow! Good little short-fic to help get me back into the verse after that little “Londerland Bloodlines” break.
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just GrayStillPlays tonight, with “When you dig 4,000 miles into the earth,” aka Gray plays Craft Drill Clicker! Yes, Gray does seem to be back in his “clicker game” era as of late, as exemplified by this game, which sees you click to both earn money and lower a spinning wheel toward a bunch of earth and rock blocks to be broken up. You use the money to do things like earn “drills” to attach to your wheel to break up those blocks (starting with logs – yes, really – and moving through planks, various colors of shovel, and various colors of pickaxe), auto-rotation for your wheel, the ability to swing your wheel like a pendulum, increased chances of certain ores and crystals showing up, and better damage scaling. And then you just keep mining, level by level, until you decide to cash it all in for a bunch of Prestige points and start over with increased money production for every click. *shrug* Pretty standard stuff, honestly. Gray brought his top auto-clicker game to earn lots of money very very rapidly (helped by his decision to watch the occasional ad for bonuses) and quickly racked up a Prestige multiplier in the couple thousand range, then tried to go as deep as he could to see what he could find! Answer was just more colorful rocks. Gray decided he was mining Starburst or Skittles then. XD Not the most interesting clicker game, to be honest, but Gray definitely made it more fun!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – I didn’t actually have anything that needed doing on Victor Luvs Alice, but over on Valice Multiverse, I was able to stick a potential ask game I thought up just recently into the queue – namely, “ask me what the citizens of ONE of my RP verses thinks of the citizens of ANOTHER one of my RP verses!” Like, you could ask the Victor and Alice of Forgotten Vows what they think of the people in Secundus, or Inevitable High School about Aperture Wage Slave, or Catch Us If You Can about Valicer In The Dark. *shrug* We’ll see if anyone takes me up on it!
Yeah, not too shabby, I suppose. And now it's time for me to start wrapping things up here. Tomorrow is a Cleaning Saturday With Laundry, so that's a good portion of my day accounted for right there -- but I also hope to play some Sims 4 (probably just gonna build, since we had a recent patch); do some more Valicer In The Dark stuff (gotta finish off "Blessing," at least!); and keep up with GrayStillPlays and Jon (GTA and London await!). Hopefully all achievable goals -- we shall see! Night all!
