Yeah, I'm actually writing this from my laptop. Weird, huh? Now, a round of good news/bad news:

Good News: My computer is back in my possession, and a bit earlier than I expected.
Bad News: The people at Samsung apparently had to wipe the thing down to the operating system in fixing the problem. (They DID call me before doing this -- I was aware it was coming back as basically a brand new OS. Hey, if it works. . .) So I get to reinstall everything.

Good News: I've gotten Windows pretty much back to where I had it.
Bad News: This took many sanity-sapping restarts. Also, I appear to have McAfee as my virus software now. Keeping it just for ease of use at the moment.

Good News: Firefox is reinstalled, and my grand plan to back up my bookmarks worked! Also, Adblocker! *hugs it*
Bad News: LJ Login's site REFUSES to come up. I checked with "Down For Everyone Or Just Me" and apparently it's not just me. Arghlebargle.

Good News: Backups appear to be working -- I've got WordPerfect installed, so my stories can remain with me.
Bad News: Gotta hunt down WinRar to get my Sims stuff up and running, and I'm not looking forward to reinstalling all my games. (Particularly worried about "Alice: Madness Returns" -- big surprise, huh.)

Good News: I'm finally getting to play out a Victor/Alice thingamabob with someone who isn't myself. :)

Bad News: . . .Actually, I can't think of anything here. Missed out on a mall trip, but getting an Alice to play with more than makes up for that.

So yeah, that's my life today. Now I suppose I should go track down WinRAR and AIM (though I probably won't be on the latter tonight -- honestly, I'm tired). Also have to do Lucy's update over at
