Morning Out Didn't Amount To Much
Aug. 19th, 2011 11:56 pmSo the family and I went to the Washington County Fair today. Which was rather underwhelming, to be honest. It's not very big, and it seems to be mostly food stands and vendors that seem a bit more appropriate for a flea market. There were some 4-H exhibits (I liked an exhibit that was all about malformed veggies -- they had a Carrot Cthulhu, basically XD), a mini-museum for the kids showing off old farm equipment, and plenty of chickens, pigs, and cows. I saw the weirdest chicken while there -- it looked like it had a big old mop of hair. O.o We also saw a pig with her piglets, which was cute. All in all, though, it wasn't much of an experience -- there were rides, but you had to pay $22 bucks a person to get on them, and we weren't prepared to spend that. We only stayed for a hour and a half. No cotton candy for me, though considering some of the food I DID see. . . .

Not really. Also, two separate stands sold fried Oreos. I am continually baffled by what people will eat.
-M: . . .That's an American thing, isn't it?-
Why, yes! Yes, I believe it is! :p Fried ice cream too. See, our food can be just as weird.
-J2: Most fattening meal ever -- chip butty followed by fried ice cream.-
Sounds about right to me.
Anyway, rest of the day was pretty much the usual stuff. I got a little farther along in Alice (though it tried pulling the "chugging" thing on me at first -- I eventually got it to run smoothly after playing a level in AMA to see if anything else would play), did my
charloft posts, updated my tumblr. Basically enjoying my last days of freedom before I seriously have to start thinking about school again. At least this semester I'm doing better with textbooks -- one requires various cheap sci-fi novels I may be able to get here at home, another doesn't require any books at all. :)
Okay, off to watch more of Burning Dog Face's Alice Let's Play and bite my nails each time he nearly misses a collectible. XD
