Poets Of The Fall
Jul. 28th, 2012 11:45 pmGo listen to them.
Seriously, go do it. They have some AWESOME music. I got introduced to them through Helloween4545's Let's Play of Alan Wake. And while I agree with Helloween that the game itself could use some polishing (the story's good, but the enemies get samey after a while, and Helloween had some rage about logical issues in the game), the soundtrack is fantastic. I was stunned to hear a Poe song ("Haunted," if you're wondering) end one of the episodes, along with songs from Roy Orbison, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (one of their songs was in the first Deathly Hallows movie), and David Bowie.
But Poets of the Fall stands out because not only did they contribute songs to episode endings, they also did songs in the game, as the fictional band Old Gods of Asgard. And they are great. Here, let me share them:
The Poet and the Muse -- plot-important, which gives Alan a vital clue to defeating the main evil of the game.
Children of the Elder God -- plays during the most bad-ass battle Alan and his friend have against the minions of the big bad. Basically, they have to defend the Old God's old stage from the Taken, and -- well, it's pretty epic. (Also, the lyrics of this one link to the story too!)
And they've got all sorts of other great songs. So yeah, go YouTube the hell out of them! And then buy something from them if you like them. I certainly wouldn't mind owning a song or two. :D
