Thumbtacks, drawing pins, whatever the hell you want to call them -- know when they were invented?

Or, well, at least one kind was invented in 1903. Apparently "map pins" came about in 1900. I've also seen a claim that some sort of thumbtack was invented in 1888, but that's STILL TOO LATE!
