Happy Unofficial BTTF Day!
Oct. 4th, 2013 10:04 pmFigured I'd make a 10:04 post simply for the fun of it. Gotta show Backie pride. XD
Today was -- interesting. Most of the day was pretty standard -- worked on "Card Castles In The Sky" (I'm figuring writing that along with Chapter 18 is a good idea, since it helps me figure out just what Victoria should know when she comes into the main story) and an essay where I explain why I think Victor and Alice would work as a couple (it's been on my mind), watched Helloween's "Metro" LP with lunch, and generally hung out. I though I was going to go in to relieve Mom at her job, but that didn't end up happening, so instead I took a walk around 3:30.
And pretty much narrowly missed getting run over.
You see, I was walking up the bike path that goes past our house, and I approached one of the places where it intersects with a road -- in this case, a pretty busy four-lane that leads to a few highways. My plan was to cross at the crosswalk and keep going up until I hit the bike path again -- done it loads of times. But right as I reach the end of the bike path, I hear a car coming up fast. I turn to see --
Just as a white car comes barreling up the road on the wrong side and half on the sidewalk. He takes out the speed limit sign, zooms past me (and I think through a red light to boot) then turns back onto the road proper and keeps speeding up the wrong side.
I promptly decided I was going to go THE OTHER FUCKING WAY. I have no idea what the hell that was all about -- I did hear sirens as I made my way around, so I'm guessing the police were in pursuit, but still -- didn't do much for my nerves the rest of the walk! I really am okay, though, just in case anyone's worried. Car didn't come close to hitting me -- I was too far back, thank God.
On a happier note, played AMA up to the beginning of the Pale Realm and noticed something interesting about the first piece of the Jabberwock's Eye Staff. All this time I've just thought of it as this plain bit of crooked stick, but it in fact has what looked like a decorative bit of metal at the top. I tried to take a print screen, but all I got was a grey rectangle when I went to paste. >.< At any rate, while trying to look up another picture of it I realized the metal part has to be the socket where you stick in the second bit -- the hook that actually holds the Jabberwock's Eye. I've never actually looked at it that closely before, so it was pretty cool. I also found another way through Herbaceous Border's underground tunnels -- if you go through the left-hand-fork, you can take an upper path that lets you avoid being bounced around too much. Cool beans. :P
And that's about it to report, beyond me looking up getting a new laptop battery. The one in mine is shot. This hasn't been a problem for a while (I haven't exactly been moving my laptop much), but now that I'll be semi-regularly going over another person's house, it's probably better that I'm not tied to a plug so much. Wish me luck!
