And Back To Time Off
May. 15th, 2015 11:35 pmSeriously, going in today was rather weird after having the day off yesterday and knowing I had the weekend coming up. Still, can't control when the holy days fall, and at least the day didn't drag on too much. Didn't get that many records put in, but I blame that on the people downstairs suddenly being really slow. I might have to go down and investigate at this point. Prepwork shouldn't be THAT difficult. . .
Did some more editing on Chapter 10 after supper tonight, then fired up Alice -- and Origin, while I was at it, to see if that would help. Quick list of what happened:
-->Went straight into Radula Room to see if it would still crash after I got the rose paint (basically, the moment it triggers the next loading screen, I suddenly get the "Alice Madness Returns has stopped working" message) -- it did.
-->Saw I could launch the game through Origin -- but that their cloud data is almost half a year old at this point and would require me to either overwrite the game I currently have or overwrite THAT save with my new one. Since I was unsure if I had a bad save or not, I just canceled out and restarted via start menu.
-->Tried out an idea I had about going back to the very end of the last chapter, forcing the game to make a NEW save back there. To my surprise, game kept a record of everything I'd gotten since -- including the Teapot Cannon! Which I promptly proceeded to use in the Colossal Ruin and Radula Room fights. And not well, because I actually took MORE damage this time around. XD So, looked like I just replayed a portion of the game for no reason, right?
-->Not necessarily! You see, I quickly skipped through the ending cutscenes of the Deluded Depths and went through the opening ones of Mysterious East (London). And when I checked out "Continue Game" on the main menu -- it put me back in the London section! So I have essentially reset Chapter 3. Lost a bit of progress, but thanks to the game remembering stuff I've done, not that much.
-->So, tomorrow we will see if this has actually fixed things! I'll run through the beginning of the chapter again, do the fights, get up to the Radula room, and trigger it. Hopefully, if it was just a case of bad save or something like that, it'll let me through. After that, I might test if skipping the Radula room lets me continue (though that'll annoy the shit out of me, I AM A COMPLETIONIST), or try an uninstall/reinstall. We'll see. Come on, game, work with me here. . .
Right now, though, having finished tumblr queues, I have to go watch something with a friend. DW stuff will be gotten to tomorrow! For now, g'night!
