Well This Started Out Well
Jun. 30th, 2015 09:02 pmWoke up around 3:30 this morning to screaming -- my mother was going downstairs to hit the bathroom, and she missed the last step on the stairs. Result? A really bad knee sprain that means a brace, crutches, and having to stay off her feet for the next two weeks. And if it doesn't stop hurting by then, she might have to have surgery. Fun, right? As you can imagine, this basically screwed up any anniversary plans that they had. . .though they still managed to get cheesecake, which was yum. But yeah, she's out of work for a while, and all we can do really is wait and hope it heals on its own. *sigh* This was not how anyone us wanted to spend the day.
Rest of the day was actually okay -- I finished up my final day on the intern project, and started reading up on the program that I'll be using in my new duties. Which was harder than expected -- my usual late bedtime coupled with the early awakening and needing to relax before getting back to sleep (hard when you're worried about your mom's health) meant that I was pretty tired this morning. For a little while before lunch, I was seriously afraid I might drift off over the binder. Fortunately getting some food in me and going out for a quick walk seemed to help. And I managed to retain some of what I read. The program doesn't look too difficult to come to grips with. We'll just see how things go once I'm actually using it. I also discovered just how hard it is to actually explain to someone precisely what it is I do -- I work with a lot of different Excel files at different times, and while the synthesis is obvious to me, it took a lot of explaining to help my replacement figure it out! At least I'll still be in the same office area so I can answer questions.
Now I have to do my tumblr queues, but before that,
gigs_83, I believe I owe you a fic:

All right, off to replies. Night all!
