Semi-Productive Saturday
Dec. 5th, 2015 11:32 pmI meant to start clearing out my desk in my closet today (it's my old pre-computer desk, it's been sitting in there for years taking up space -- now that my bed has storage options for old notebooks, I can finally empty it out and get rid of it), but between writing, watching Linkara (Brute Force and Deadpool, hilariously weird), Nostalgia Critic (Turtles Christmas, so bad it's good), Helloween's thoughts on SOMA (environments and story were good, gameplay was meeeh, Simon's inability to understand a major plot point was intensely frustrating), and cleaning the upstairs hall and living room, never got around to it. I'll have to do it tomorrow at some point. Also need to dust my shelves, although maybe that could wait until Tuesday. . .we'll see.
On the flip side, I had a very productive writing session this morning! Got a lot done with the next bit of Chapter 24 -- the Queen's section of the final chapter has gotten a huge revamp!
In the sense that I've written a second-hand version of Lizzie's rape.
You see, what happened is, I got to the Queen jogging Alice's memory of what happened that night, looked at the paragraph that's up currently, and realized it should be an actual flashback memory. Which necessarily meant writing the noises Alice heard that dragged her out of sleep. So there's no real indication it's a rape scene except for the context, but -- yeah, I think I'm gonna have to put another content warning in my post when this one goes up on tumblr. On the plus side, I was able to better show how Alice got to thinking about centaurs in Oxford, and link it nicely to the beginning of AMA. . .I think I should be able to finish this chapter off tomorrow -- Monday at the latest. w00t, on schedule~
Main other thing of note about today -- Sims 4! Played Geeker's household to round out the gang (though I forgot to take an actual picture of his house -- I'll have to pop back in briefly tomorrow to fix that). To my surprise, he and Marty don't get on. Dunno why -- they're not full enemies, and they managed a few positive interactions when Marty came over as part of the welcome wagon, but generally they tend to snap at each other. Curious, but what the hell -- no reason why everyone in the game should like each other. Might make for some interesting neighborly dynamics. I also had a weird moment where the game was suddenly opening in windowed mode after installing the latest update -- I have no clue why. Fortunately it proved to be a quick fix in game options. Game was running a touch stuttery too, though I wonder if my mods might have something to do with that. Need to update them before next weekend.
All right, that's my update on the things. Though I should mention my friend Reenie on tumblr has a Redbubble account now and is hoping to sell things, so if you want to, go look and see if you want a ghost child pillow or a shirt with a gardening dog on it. (Both are cute.) I need to do the late-night RP thing -- night all!
