crossover_chick: gif of Doc gasping (BTTF: EEK)
It was going along okay until about lunchtime -- usual roster maintenance stuff -- and then one of my coworkers gets a call from her daughter.

Saying there'd been a shooting on 95 near the Providence Place Mall.

Yeah, that's EXACTLY what you want to hear when your work is about a fifteen minute walk away from PPM.

I'm okay, and so is everyone else at my office -- nothing happened there. But as you might imagine, it made it kind of hard to concentrate for the rest of the day and left me on edge. Details are still sketchy as to what exactly happened -- all I know for sure is police opened fire on a white pickup on 95; the guy inside is dead, the woman inside severely injured and apparently not likely to survive; originally it was thought there was a tie to a guy stealing the police cruiser he was in earlier today (officer stepped out to check on an accident), but now it seems they were separate incidents; chance that the police scared and killed a guy who didn't actually DO anything. It's -- just not good for the mental space. :( My parents actually came and picked me up in the truck tonight after I told them what happened via text, and we took the long way home through the city because the highway was still all snarled up. Not that traffic in the city was any better -- people running red lights, blocking intersections, the works. Very glad I got a small break from driving tonight. Yeeps.

I'm feeling better now, though -- being at home, listening to some music, watching a couple of videos, and getting my tumblr queues done helped a bit. Wrote more on "Secundus 2" as well -- thinking I'll be able to wrap up Chapter 1 soon, and move onto Chapter 2. Get Victor that much closer to reuniting with Doc and Marty. :) I also posted another chapter of "Imagine Me And You" -- Can I Keep It?, the story of how Bayard found Splatter. A dose of cute I badly needed today.

All right -- answered everything that needs answering, so I need to get to bed now. Here's hoping Friday is a better day. Or at least a less stressful one. Night all!
