Not My Best Sunday
Mar. 4th, 2018 11:37 pmAnd it's all to do with my parents installing a new light in the hallway. You see, my parents got a new fancy light from an antiques store, and wanted to put it up in the hallway. This necessitated a lot of fiddling, which meant Dad got his big tool box out. However, midway through the project, it transpired they needed a new plate to go over the hole in the ceiling (I think, I wasn't paying that much attention). So off they went to Home Depot. Before they left, Mom asked me to get the load of laundry she had in the dryer, then move the load in the washer to the dryer. So I dutifully went downstairs at the right time, grabbed my sheets from the dyer, moved the wet clothes over -- and noticed there were a pile of clothes in front of the washer. Figuring they needed washing, but unsure why Mom hadn't mentioned them, I put them in the washer without turning it on. I brought my sheets and stuff upstairs, wondering if I should text Mom and ask her if I should start the next load --
And I walked right into the tool box Dad had left in the middle of the entrance to the living room.
Okay, I know this one's at least partly my fault, since I knew it was there and should have been paying more attention, but I think it also would have been nice of him to move it out of the way temporarily while they were out. I hit the ground HARD, and spent the next few minutes assessing the damage (fortunately mainly just some scrapes on one leg that had caught the toolbox), cursing, and crying. I managed to get myself calmed down by the time they got back, but the incident -- coupled with having to listen to them argue about how to get the light up there just outside my door -- completely threw off the rest of my day. It's hard to concentrate on the stuff you meant to do when you're A) in pain and B) still upset about the damn incident. Fortunately, I'd gotten most of my writing on "Secundus 2" done (Clara basically encouraging the Touched boys to brag about their Inventions, because she's into that) before that, but I didn't buy any of the stuff I was going to buy. I didn't even play the McFlys in Sims 4 -- I got into the game later in the day than normal, and decided instead I'd do a renovation project: turning a hotel/spa/movie theater lot I'd downloaded that gave me intense slowdown the last time I visited it into something I could actually send my Sims to on a night out. This entailed getting rid of all the hotel and spa elements and rezoning the lot as "generic" so I could just do the movie theater bits. Deleting all those rooms was kind of cathartic -- I'll have to come back to it later and clean up what remains.
Other things I managed to accomplish include:
-->Finding out what was going on with the laundry situation (turns out Mom wanted to add the bathroom rugs to the last load, which is why she didn't want me to do anything about it)
-->Setting up my account on my health insurance website so I can see about finding a doctor and getting a check-up (Mom's been on my butt about it)
-->Making my muffins (did this in the afternoon while Mom and Dad were out again looking for contact paper Mom can use as temporary "wallpaper" in the bathroom)
-->Watching a bit of RabbidLuigi countdown videos (including at least one repeat that I didn't realize I'd already seen until midway through it -- still, he's entertaining enough to warrant that)
-->Watching the next two episodes of the "Jungle Adventures" LP James is doing (he's managed to get through the temple twice, and found a BOATLOAD of artifacts -- Kat really has great luck finding stuff! Although she also managed to curse herself for a while thanks to activating an evil relic. Poor girl got followed by a shocky cloud for an episode until James learned out to get rid of it. At any rate, he's sold all the duplicate items, making her a lot richer and bringing her one step closer to her goal of buying the Bigwallet Emporium and having her own museum)
-->Getting my ValiceMultiverse queue done and emptying out my inbox (gotta keep up on the comments)
And now it is time to go to bed -- work again tomorrow. We'll see if it's any improvement on today. Night all!
