Somewhat Disappointing Sunday
Sep. 2nd, 2018 11:35 pmIn regards to mini-golf, anyway -- we went to Mulligan's Island, since we hadn't been there since I was a little kid, and it was -- underwhelming. Their big draw is having a volcano on the premises that occasionally spits out fire, but it never did anything while we were there. It did have a nice waterfall running down the side, but that was about it. The rest of the decorations were kind of lackluster. And the whole course was in a state of disrepair -- there were greens that had been ripped and patched with green duct tape, one that was coming up right where you stepped on to putt (and it had a metal bit sticking out too!), holes under the decorative rocks on at least one green (so if you got your ball stuck there, you were screwed), and one multi-layer green with a chute that wasn't put together right, so Dad's ball got stuck at one of the joins. We managed to get it out after some effort, but only after Mom had gone back to the shack where you got the putters and balls and gotten a new one (two new ones, in fact, as we'd used my ball to try and knock it through, and it got stuck for a while as well). And the courses were difficult for all the wrong reasons -- basically, the cups weren't set quite right into the holes, so it was SUPER easy for the ball to hit the lip and roll around, instead of into the cup. AND it was more expensive than your average round of mini-golf. Bottom line, we weren't impressed, and we'll probably continue to go to Massachusetts for our mini golf needs.
I can't complain about the rest of the day though:
-->Got another chunk done on Chapter 6 of "Fixing You" -- some new content about William needing to be knocked out of his delusions that Victor will EVER be accepted again by Burtonsville. Mainly because he was suggesting they could buy the Everglot mansion for Victor and Alice to live in. MULTIPLE reasons for Victor, Alice, and Fixxler to shoot THAT idea down!
-->Watched some silly videos, such as a RabbidLuigi list of the worst open-world video games; a Kubz Scouts quick LP of a mobile game where you have to solve puzzles to find your phone in various strange domestic scenes; and a Call Me Kevin video on Two Point Hospital, where he naturally set out to create the most annoying hospital known to humankind XD
-->Got myself a frozen hot chocolate, because it was slowly but surely getting hotter out today, and I wanted one after the mini golf (I think I've come to associate that activity with getting ice cream thanks to so many of them having an ice cream shop on the premises). Simple but tasty!
-->Played some BioShock Infinite -- the brutal murder continues! I've already earned an achievement for killing people with the pistol. Columbia continues to be a very pretty but very racist and xenophobic hellhole -- well, except when you enter the Fraternal Order of the Raven, which is SOMEHOW continually shadowed in fog. As if the fuckers torturing anyone who isn't the right kind of white wasn't bad enough. . . On the plus side, I now have the Murder of Crows Vigor, and it is already proving delightfully useful. :D Get pecked, Columbia's finest! I mean, the resultant corpses are a bit bloody and creepy to look at, but -- uh -- I do MUCH WORSE with my hats. Mostly because my hats allow me to electrocute people or -- with the one I'm currently wearing -- set them on fire. Both of which reduce the enemy to a skeleton, then ash.
BioShock Infinite is, uh, kind of dark, y'all. Again, I know this isn't THAT much of a surprise, given the injuries you could inflict upon the Splicers, but -- well, the graphics are even better in this game, so. . . I'm quite enjoying myself, but I am a bit creeped out too.
-->And I'm currently catching up on comments and getting my Valice Multiverse queue ready -- LOT more activity there tonight. Nice to know I can stay up a little while longer and get a few more things done -- ah, long weekends. Gotta love 'em. :) Of course, this is the only one I get "naturally" in September -- I'll have to plan out a day off or two to take later in the month. But that's to worry about in the future. For now, clearing out the inbox. Night all!
