Can't Complain Wednesday
Dec. 19th, 2018 11:20 pmAnother fairly quiet day in the office -- not many phone calls, kept just busy enough that the day didn't drag particularly but I didn't feel overwhelmed. And we had a nice lunch out -- back at the usual restaurant, Coal Fire Pizza. Had another platter of the delicious wings, and I tried their tomato soup, which -- okay, it wasn't horrible, but I didn't understand my coworkers raving about it. To me, it looked kinda oily and while it was suitably tomatoey -- well, I couldn't help but wonder if it was just thinned out tomato sauce. I saw someone opening up a giant can of the stuff while going to the restroom. . . *shrug* Still, tasted fine, and the wings were wonderful, so I won't complain. And it led to a very pleasant surprise -- my own boss encouraging me to take my birthday off! I wasn't planning on doing so because, well, everyone else is out for medical reasons, but if he's okay with me doing so. . . I guess it's been calm enough that he figures the office will survive one day. Fingers crossed.
Afternoon's been pretty solid too:
-->Did editing passes on two of my gift fics, getting them ready for posting and making up for the panicked mess that was yesterday's research/writing. Back on track, more or less. Though I may skip writing on "The Technicolor Phase" this weekend in favor of doing more with the gift fics -- I could use the extra time.
-->Watched Helloween's latest Doom 2016 set (despite Doom Guy's best efforts, the portal to Hell has been opened, and our brave Marine has landed in the culmination of all human suffering. He is now proceeding to shoot all the inhabitants and loot every secret he can find. XD Hells may sometimes be a Failoween, but he's clearly having a blast nicknaming and slaughtering all thes demon hordes), and OXBox's latest OXMas Challenge (Jane's turn again -- she had to play Santa in Call of Duty: Black Ops in multiplayer by finding an ATV, going to five houses, and dropping random loot from her inventory in each without being seen by another player. Managed to do so and score her point -- even if she was killed by another player as she was leaving her last house. XD). Also developing a backlog of OXTra OXMas Challenges. . .need to get on those this weekend! Can't neglect my OXMas. XD
-->Managed to use my family's current love of watching baking shows to my advantage for my tumblr queue -- mostly because I HAVE thought about how interesting it would be for Victor and Alice (along with their friends) to compete on a baking show. And I can do baking headcanons for Forgotten Vows Friday! Score~ (Yeah, I know, not the most Christmassy of posts, but I do tend to associate baking with the holidays, so. . .)
So that's good. Now it's time to go and empty out my inbox before heading to bed. Just two more days to get through. . .hopefully tomorrow they'll have stopped digging up the road on my exit. Meh. Night all!
