Been a pretty solid one, all things considered:

-->Parents' big present to me? A new winter coat! My old one has served me well over the years, and I liked it a lot, but -- well, I've had it a decade. My mom's been pretty insistent that it's time for a new one. And said new one does have deep enough pockets to hold my winter gear (hat, scarf, gloves), so I can't complain. Certainly kept me warm enough when the window in my Mom's car malfunctioned while we were getting out of the Providence Place parking garage and wouldn't close!

-->As usual, we headed to Dave & Buster's to start the celebration. Did the rounds of a bunch of racing games (Mario Kart, my Mom's favorite, and Dirty Driving, one of mine), some shooting games (Dad and I did surprisingly well in the Jurassic Park one!), virtual bowling (Dad blew Mom and I out of the water), skee-ball, even some Rock-Em-Sock-Em Robots (they have a giant version you control with special handles -- I managed to win with two knockouts :D). And of course a round on the two "virtual reality" machines that basically simulate a scenario and bounce you around like a virtual roller coaster. REALLY bumpy, but still fun!

-->Also went to Newbury Comics and Hot Topic to look at stuff -- we all ended up getting some new pins from the former. Mine is a Robin Williams quote I liked: "You're only given one little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." Surprised I found anything in there, honestly -- the store's become largely a place for Funko Pops. Which, fine, they're far from horrible toys, but still. I kind of miss the greater variety of stuff I used to find there. Plus all the minimates. *sigh*

-->After that, we hit Gregg's for lunch -- got a little worried when the person who seated us was a bit bitchy about putting us in an unoccupied booth, but then our actual waitress showed up and was really nice and good at her job. :) Lunch itself was good -- I got Tim's Wild Wrap, which was grilled chicken, veggies, wild rice, cheese, and ranch in a wrap with french fries, and it was quite tasty! And Mom and Dad enjoyed their entrees as well. We also got cake, because birthday ;) Dad ordered a piece of chocolate mousse cake, which he said was delicious -- I got the Hasbro Giving Cake, which was a rich chocolate cake with layers of peanut butter chips inside. A portion of the proceeds goes to Hasbro Children's Hospital. I mentioned it was my birthday to the waitress, and she actually had them write "happy birthday" on the plate with frosting and led a couple of other waitresses in singing "Happy Birthday" to me. :D We all thought that was very sweet, and it earned her a hefty tip. The cake was delicious, too -- iiiif a bit too big to eat all in one sitting. XD I got about halfway through, then had them box up the remains and finished it off after dinner tonight. Still a bit in sugar shock. :p

-->After that was a stop at the library for some movies -- namely, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Frankenweenie. I mentioned watching the former for Christmas this year, as Mom has apparently never seen it, but it wasn't on Netflix, to my surprise! So we decided to get it for New Year's, and it sort of morphed into a Tim Burton Stop Motion marathon. Eh, I can dig it. :p

-->Then we got home, and I checked my e-mail -- and lo and behold, my friend Gigs had sent me a nice voice clip of Helloween4545 wishing me a happy birthday! :D And hoping I don't get scammed out of presents XD (Don't worry, Hells, I usually don't!) So that was very nice to come home to. :)

-->Read some stuff on TV Tropes for a while (Outside XBox page -- I love that crew), and then booted up Sims 4 and worked a bit more on my Bowling Alley/Skating Rink/Restaurant. Slowly but surely everything is coming together -- I've got the "shoe rental" set up (actually the podium where you go to get seated by the host, along with some half walls), a bar area in front of the kitchen, and the seating in front of each bowling alley (there's three, as that's all I could fit next to the roller skating rink). I've also gotten down flooring and wallpapered the place. Now I just have to add some more decorations, and hopefully we'll be set!

-->Hopped on YouTube and found both my favorite LPers had done sets for today: The Sim Supply had another "Adventures of Thorne Bailey," focusing mainly on Thorne regaining his old fame (with Olivia picking up some extra fame from her writing on the side) -- also focused on the annoyance of songs taking so long to write and only being able to be licensed once a week (a pain I can TOTALLY SYMPATHIZE WITH). Helloween4545 had more Doom 2016 shenanigans, with our Doom Slayer slaughtering the demon armies of Hell and working his way back to Mars. Which is infested with Hell demons too, so not much change there. It's a delight to see him getting all excited about using his extensive and awesome armory to just take the monsters apart. Also a delight to see him get so into it using a certain powerup that he accidentally falls off the world. Twice. XD Good times, good times. . .

-->And I just completed my Valice Multiverse queue, and I'm about to go clear out my remaining comments from the inbox before hitting the sheets. Very solid birthday indeed. :) Would have been a bit nicer if I didn't have work tomorrow, but eh. Couldn't take both days off. And I do have another four-day weekend right after tomorrow's grind, so I think I'll survive. XD Night all!
