crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)
-->Driving to work, going up to the final light before I make my turn toward the diocese -- and suddenly, looming up in front of me, I see this GIANT pothole. I immediately slow down as much as I'm able, but the BANG the car made when I had to go through it! I was terrified for a second I'd broken something. I was able to make it to work okay, and the car made it back home all right too, but -- yikes. I have NO idea where it even came from! As if it isn't bad enough they tore up a different section of road a little further back and then did a piss-poor job of patching it. . .

-->Started off the work day having to interpret a bank statement from Fiscal to try and find a certain bank return that they couldn't. Fortunately my guess as to what it was bore out, so yay there.

-->After having the GL happily balance perfectly (small mercies), I start trying to get caught up on the phone messages -- when I get another call from one of the people on my list. She was wondering why one of her payments wasn't showing up on the website. I pull up her record and assure her that we do have it, and that she's probably looking at the old website that wouldn't have updated since we recently switched online giving providers. . .

And it turns out she made her latest payment through that old website. The one that ISN'T SUPPOSED TO WORK ANYMORE.

And THEN it turns out SHE'S NOT THE ONLY ONE. Apparently nothing was shut off when it was supposed to -- which actually worked in my favor, because it meant I could get on the old database system and see where these gifts were supposed to end up -- but DAMN. Suddenly my whole day is thrown off course as I'm trying to figure out what's going on with this as well as answering the phone and trying to keep up on other issues.

-->Also we had a PILE of mail and I didn't get to any of it, and the people in the back kept giving me stuff to put on -- at least they also recognized "Okay, she's up here alone and already dealing with a mess, maybe this should just go in the safe for tomorrow. . ."

-->Came home and decided, it's the last full day of the Steam Winter Sale, I'm getting that Fallout 4 DLC (Season Pass bundle that has all of it). Load up the Steam Wallet with my gift card, then purchase the DLC. I fiddle around a bit and FINALLY get the game to start updating and actually installing it all. So I figure, while that's going, I'll load up Origin and take advantage of THEIR winter sale to get Get Famous, Toddler Stuff, Fitness Stuff, and Luxury Party Stuff for discounted prices! (No, I'm not buying My First Pet Stuff, even on sale. I'm not supporting the cash grab they didn't even make an EFFORT to disguise.)

Nope -- Origin, as it turns out, is EXTREMELY fussy tonight and simply won't open if Steam, or indeed the internet or LibreOffice Writer, is open. Fine then, I decide, I'll go ahead and renew my McAfee subscription.

The payment form keeps insisting I don't have my credit card security number despite it being FILLED IN.

Fortunately, I eventually discover that this is because of NoScript (which I reactivated recently, after going on some wikis that tried to hijack my browser/possibly tried to give me a virus, which McAfee deleted thankfully) blocking something on the form -- I fiddle, discover the field is not ACTUALLY filled in, and manage to get the order to go through.

By this time, Steam is done updating Fallout 4 as well, so I close that out, log out of McAfee, close Firefox and Writer, and FINALLY get Origin to open. A little fussing later, I manage to get all the Sims 4 packs I was looking for (all in one order, no less), and pay for those too. And then let them download because I don't dare open my browser again until this is all completed.

-->I discover nobody from my subscriptions has updated -- though, given how long it took me to actually get to my writing after all the above, that's probably a good thing. And I did have some things to watch -- a Yandere Simulator video from Jay showing off the new memorial service for deceased students, and another try (or four) at the "Alphabet Killer" challenge (killing off students in alphabetical order), and a Sims 4 building video from Deligracy showing off a really neat basement house hidden underneath a stereotypical sciencey bunker. She made living underground look good. So that was more all right than not.

-->I also got my Valice Multiverse queue done with little fuss, happily -- though I just realized I almost forgot to do my VictorLuvsAlice queue. Fortunately getting Thursday settled is just a matter of some copy and paste. . .

-->One surprisingly good thing -- I got Chapter 11 of "Fixing You" done! O.o I just -- I was on a roll, and I realized there was less than a page left once I got to what I thought was going to be my stopping point, so. . .just pushed on. However, I'm still going to wait until next Friday to actually upload the chapter, since that'll give me some time to get a head start on Chapter 12.

. . .also next Friday is 1/11 and I really want Chapter 11's announcement on my tumblr to coincide. :p

So yeah, it's been kind of a draining day, for the most part. And I still have to empty out the inbox. . .maybe tomorrow will be a little better. Fingers crossed. . .night all!
